to IC Conny

((OOC: The Briefing will be a two parter. In this part we have shiny time as promised! In the second part we will begin the mission. That second part will happen tomorrow! (Sunday) ))

(( Observation Lounge - Constitution - About a week after the party ))

It had to happen sooner or later. Headquarters realised that the crew of the Constitution had been on a very extended shore leave. Well technically. After all, the crew had to go on an undercover mission to save their Commodore, but they decided it had been long enough to catch a break, breathe and now go back to work. So Jalana had called upon all Senior Officers to come to the Observation Lounge.

((OOC: Senior Officers means Player Characters, regardless of rank))

There she stood now in front of everyone, and it was difficult not to get emotional. Yes still. These people had risked their lives for her. It was overwhelming to think about. But they now had to focus on the present.

Rajel: Thank you all for coming. As you may have guessed, we have received a new mission. But before I get to that, I need to address a few things.

Anyone: response

Rajel: All of you have been incredible. While we all say that the needs of the many outweigh the need of the one, you have put your lives on the line to find me and bring me back home and I am forever grateful for that. ::She placed a hand on her heart:: Thank you.

Anyone: response

Rajel: We all know Starfleet has very much the stance of ‘ribbons or it didn’t happen’ so I have some for you for your hard work. ::With a little smile, she looked around.:: You didn’t think I forgot the favorite part of my job, did you?

No matter what had happened, this didn’t change. She enjoyed rewarding her crew and these service ribbons were part of that. Shiny time as she liked to call it.

((OOC: For the purposes of the shinies when I say ‘all’, ‘everyone’ or ‘those that joined the undercover mission’ I include the Player characters and PNPCs that were directly involved in this mission.))

Anyone: response

Rajel: We all know that we faced the Syndicate more than once and you’d think we get used to it but we don’t and maybe that is a good thing. Starfleet agreed to award you all the Syndicate Service Medal for your efforts, but not only this one, but also the Operation Safe Harbor Service Medal because this particular strand was a bunch of pirates.

Anyone: response

Rajel: I may be biased about this next one, but Starfleet HQ has agreed so maybe I am not. To those of you who joined the undercover rescue mission, I am proud to award you the Silver Star for bravery and gallantry in action against the Syndicate.

Anyone: response

Rajel: Not all important tasks happened on the front line though. A vital part that I could see from the reports was to put the Conny back into one piece so she would be ready in case she needed to go out to assist you all. Lazarus lead that effort but he was not alone. Our resident sentient Holograms Mark Two Foster and Georgio braved their worries and fears and worked hard on making this possible. They were part of the experimental approach of the ship repair, a lot of things could have gone wrong and they still did not hesitate. For that I award Mark, Georgio and Lazarus the Good Conduct Ribbon. Laz, I trust you will present the ribbon to them.

Anyone: response

Rajel: For the same approach, the innovative way to find a method to speed up these repairs considerably, I award Lazarus the Innovation ribbon. He is not the only one though. Cade, I have read reports of how you brought Akeelah back to her feet, which as a fellow doctor I have to say was a genius method I hope to hear more about. For that, you receive the Innovation ribbon as well, as well as the Recovery Ribbon and Trauma Support Advocate Service Ribbon for your constant hard work with her to regain her mobility.

Anyone: response

Rajel: Lives were saved, many lives were saved. So I have a bunch of ribbons for you guys. Edward, Talia, Shedet, Sherana are awarded the Silver Lifesaving ribbon. Cade, Lystra, Akeelah and Jacob, who is not here but still deserves it, receive the Gold Lifesaving ribbon. Thank you for all your hard work in keeping us alive through direct interference and medical knowledge.

Anyone: response

Rajel: You all know I am not the biggest fan of the Purple heart but we had a few rough injuries that deserve it, namely Edward and Lystra.

She got it herself as well but did not feel she should have, nor did she ever announce her own accolades. So she also did not announce her Prisoner of war ribbon.

Anyone: response

Rajel: A Captain’s Commentation goes out to Lazarus for taking command of getting the ship back into action and bringing her to us when we needed her the most. You pretty much saved our hides. Another goes to Akeelah D’Sena for taking command of the rescue mission and organising as well as leading the last push to storm Boss’ place.

Anyone: Response

Jalana took a deep breath and looked at the PADD with a little smile.

Rajel: You would think that was it but I am not done. We have an Intelligence Star for every member of the undercover operation, as they participated in a covert operation to protect the security and interest of the Federation.

Anyone: Response

Rajel: Cade. ::She looked to her friend.:: Since you joined us you have been working hard to provide not only medical but also physical health, promoting the importance of both as a well rounded healing process. You were the doctor and counsellor for many of us and showed us how important it is to not neglect either side and were our very own morale officer. For these efforts, I am proud to award you the Unity Ribbon.

Anyone: response

The Trill took a deep breath and clapped her hands to congratulate everyone with a smile.

Rajel: You will find your ribbons will be delivered to you by a yeoman, so you don’t have to carry them around with you now. ::She paused:: Now that the service ribbons are announced I have a couple more announcements before we can get to business. As you may have noticed Saveron has taken a leave of absence, together with Marine Captain T’Aven. But that means the Position of the First Officer was vacant. I am joyful to announce that Edward Spears has agreed to take the position as my right-hand man.

Anyone: Response

Rajel: In addition, Lazarus Davis has agreed to step up and in addition to being Chief Science Officer he is taking on the role of Second Officer. But that isn’t everything. ::She turned to Lazarus and smiled, this part he did not know about just yet.:: Would you please come to me, Laz?

Davis: response

Rajel: You have worked hard since you came aboard the Constitution and have been vital in various missions we have gone through together. During the time when the other Senior Officers headed out to The Rock you stayed back to take lead on further repairs and be the cavalry for your crewmates. You did a formidable job, one that I hope you are proud of. ::She smiled a little more and reached into her uniform skirt pocket to retrieve a small black box.:: Therefore it is not only a pleasure but an honour to me, to promote you into the Rank of Lieutenant Commander with all rights and privileges. ::She opened the box and retrieved the half pip before she reached up to Lazarus collar to add it to his already existing two full ones.:: Congratulations, Commander.

She held out her hand to Lazarus a grin of joy spreading all over her face.

Davis: Response

Anyone: Response

Rajel: There are two more announcements. Cade Foster. You will never know how much I appreciate it that you stepped up when it was needed most and took the position as Mission Specialist, stood by my side and were an invaluable source of advice. But you and I both know that your true calling is that of being a doctor, which was more than evident during the rescue mission. So I hope you don’t mind that I hereby transfer you back to Sick Bay into the position of Chief Medical Officer.

Foster: Response

Anyone: Response

Rajel: And one last thing. ::She takes a deep breath and her eyes wandered to Shedet.:: A while ago Shedet asked me to be admitted to take her officer’s qualification training, which would mean to go back to the Academy. The Paperwork took a while but I am proud to announce that Chief Petty Officer Shedet has been granted her request and her hard work so far has been accounted for so she is able to begin her training at the level of a third year. Congratulations Cadet 2nd Class Shedet.

Shedet: response
