((A Geyser Valley, Northern Hemisphere, Peekaboo))
She arrived about the same moment as Indrid and was surprised to see a Kameryan. Much less one of a group she was familiar with.
Yirah: An Ular Kameryan.
Lystra: Yeah, it’s been a while since we last saw an Ular. ::looking towards Indrid:: Two years, I think.
She lowered her rifle so it merely hung in front of her but was still accessible.
Yirah: We've met your people before. On a colony world inhabited by many species. We went to the naming ceremony of a child of the colony we helped.
Lystra: It was a lovely ceremony. We don’t mean any harm.
Utan: If it's true, why are you here now?
Perax: We were sent to survey the planet we stumbled across trying to take a shortcut through the nebula.
Yirah: Were you the one who threw the vines at my team member?
Utan: Yes, he was too close.
Lystra: They’ll live, but that was a nasty snare you used.
Yirah: Are you by yourself?
Lystra: Good question. Do we need to warn our other away team that they might be under threat?
Utan: Why would I give that information freely. I don't know your intentions. Nature doesn't give that away so easily. There's strength in numbers, and for the moment, you have them.
Perax: There are less than four of them. The words imply we are an even or greater match than them. Such small groups would tend to indicate less military reasons for being here. Unless of course, it’s a lie.
Yirah: response
Lystra: Exploration, just like us. We noticed this planet when we passed through the nebula. It’s not on the Federation’s star charts so we came to learn more about it. Rogue planets are easy to miss after all, even when they’re not hidden in a nebula.
Utan: I didn't... wounded your man. Just incapacitated him. I don't kill unless absolutely necessary. Do you hold by the same philosophy?
She nodded to that. They only killed when it was a last resort or their hand was forced. All of their weapons were set to stun, so barring an allergic reaction to nadion radiation they were almost impossible to kill with.
Yirah: response
Lystra: We had no way of knowing you had a claim to this place. This planet isn’t listed on any formal charts as I said. Which means no formal claim, so how could we have known?
The Boslic huffed defensively and shifted her stance to plant her hands on her hips. One of their people was unconscious, but she understood this seemed to be a misunderstanding.
Utan: You have sensors, I'm sure also on the ship. We're minding our own things.
Perax: Sensors are operating at reduced efficiency. The Chrondite in the nebula is interfering with them.
She gestured towards Leran.
Yirah: response
Lystra: I’m sure we’d be glad to help you with whatever you’re working on here, or give you space to do what you’re here to do while we study the planet if that’s what you’d prefer?
Utan: I'm not a leader, nor a politics expert, but I can guide you safely to meet them, but I can only take two of you with me, besides, I guess you won't leave your dormant one alone.
Lystra’s head tilted slightly at his comment. From a security standpoint she understood reducing potential threats and two people were easier to deal with than three. Also, leaving one behind would isolate that person from their group which could potentially be exploited.
She was getting a sense of mistrust from the Kameryan throughout the conversation and was apprehensive about splitting themselves up. It was around then that the Kameryan seemed to get a communication.
Ta'an: =\/= Fenix Ignus, Ta'an to ground teams. We have returned. What is your status? =\/=
Utan: =\/= We've just made contact with some aliens. They've been... exploring the place =\/=
Ta'an: =\/= Yes, we made contact... a ship in orbit. It appears the people on that ship have made contact with our kind before. Positive contact. =\/=
Kol’Mana: =\/= What kind of contact? =\/=
Ta'an: =\/= The latest contact was two years ago and ended in joining a naming ceremony for an Ular child. =\/=
Utan: =\/= One here told me the same... are we in good terms with them? =\/=
Ta’an: =\/= response =\/=
Lystra: Maybe you can share with us how you’re able to get your comms to work through all this Chrondite. ::she mused slightly:: But that was good news from your ship, I hope?
She glanced between Leran and Indrid ruefully because of how much they’d struggled to get even a garbled message out.
Yirah: response
Utan: As I said, I'm not the one to decide and I'm surprised that your tech didn't … work well.
Perax: ::he talks slightly awkwardly:: So, um, What now? Do you take us to your leader?
There was a crack of thunder that was most definitely a lot closer than the last one and she glanced back towards the Little Crow. They should all probably seek shelter for the moment.
Lystra: Or they can come here. Either way, I think it’s prudent if we seek shelter. Either within our perimeter rods or whenever your camp is.
Yirah/Utan: response
She saw Leran was scanning their surroundings as she was, trusting Indrid as the away team leader to handle the conversation. It was possible this Kameryan was alone at the moment, but she was sure there were others. Cade’s transmission about them finding signs of agricultural attempts suggested as much.
Lystra: The storm’s getting worse. ::she noted::
Yirah/Utan: response
Perax: Well, I still have lightning rods to work on. So, I don’t mind staying behind if you still insist on only bringing two of us.
A second rumble, far louder than before, a storm was brewing, and the already dark purple sky grew dim and flickered with light within.
Lystra caught the abrupt motion and sound of rapid movement as someone bounded down the hill from above them without making an attempt to conceal themselves. For her part, Lystra turned towards the incoming Kameryan with her hand merely resting on her phaser rifle, still angled towards the ground. Wary but not being threatening.
Kol’Mana: Why do you invite the wrath of Gador? Do you creature-people wish us all killed?
Lystra: Gador? We’re unfamiliar with that…being but we certainly don’t wish to invoke any wrath.
The way they phrased that made her think Gador must be some sort of deified entity.
Yirah/Utan/Perax: ?
The Kameryan pointed at the skies.
Kol’Mana: A storm comes. We would be fools to stand by your poles and wish destruction to the fertile soil and soft plans. Why do you come here to destroy?
Lystra: Those poles are meant to draw in the lightning to protect ourselves and our shuttle. Not to destroy. We’re explorers. ::she gestured to the away team:: We seek knowledge, we only made those to stay safe and to study the storms. Are you saying that the lightning harms the soil and plants when it strikes it?
Yirah/Utan/Perax/Kol’Mana: ?
The Boslic glanced up as another flash of purple brightened all of their faces for a moment before a count of three Constitutions resulted in another peel of thunder. One close enough to feel even through their suits.
Lystra: I assure you, we mean no harm. We have a way of doing things, when we explore. But the moment we understand that what we do causes harm or damage to nature or others, we stop and find a better, safer, non-invasive way. The only way to get rid of one’s own ignorance is through learning and understanding.
It was her father’s favorite mantra to quote whenever she or her brother did something that caused problems, or hurt themselves or others because they didn’t know better. Stars, how she missed him.
Yirah/Utan/Perax/Kol’Mana: ?
Lystra: Agreed. We have mere minutes to get to shelter. I don’t know if your shelter is closer than our ship, but you’re welcome to wait out the storm with us or we can go with you. Either way, I think we need to decide. Now.
The flash of lightning and accompanying thunder crash seemed to agree with her.
Yirah/Utan/Perax/Kol’Mana: ?
