G'Renn: We could go to T’Keck’s. I know some of the more flavorful options of Vulcan cuisine. Not all of it is as bland as people think.

Kvash: I'd imagine not, as not ALL Klingon food involves raw meat and/or live insects.

A lot did, but it was amazing how many offworlders thought all Klingons pretty much lived entirely on gagh' and bloodwine. With the possible addition of raw targh. Of course, they didn't quite understand the history of gagh'.

The hybrid picked up her mat, tucked it under her arm and headed for the turbolift. Kvash fell in next to her.

G'Renn: Well, you know that I was born and raised on Vulcan. What about you? Did you grow up in the Federation, the Empire, or somewhere else entirely? ::Beat:: If you’re comfortable sharing, that is.

Kvash: I was born on a planet called Tev, about twenty light years from Qo'noS.

She paused for a moment.

Kvash: My uncle's in the diplomatic corps, though, and I spent some time with him on the homeworld.

For which she was grateful. Many colony children struggled to find advancement simply because of the cultural drift.

Kvash: Have you visited Q'onoS?

G'Renn: A few times. My dad had already moved to the Federation by the time I was born so Qo’noS was never really home, per se. But we took semi-regular family trips to Qo’noS to visit family. Our house owns a pretty large winery in the Mekro’vak region. Visits were fun, but… being a vegetarian hybrid who acts more Vulcan than Klingon doesn’t make you the most popular member of the family with some Klingons. ::Anath paused for a moment when they entered a turbolift.:: Promenade-07.

Kvash: Mekro'vak? Some very fine vintages from there.

G'Renn: ?

The turbolift hummed a little bit as it took them to the promenade.

Kvash: I have a suspicion that, like many hybrids, you joined StarFleet because it felt more comfortable than either birth culture?

It seemed almost every hybrid she talked to had some version of that story.

G'Renn: ?

Kvash: Oh, quite simple. I went to university on Earth. Hence the accent.

Kvash spoke her Standard with a decidedly British accent, thanks to several years in London.

G'Renn: ?

Kvash: It was my uncle's suggestion. He thought I would be a good addition to the diplomatic corps and that studying in another culture, amongst another species would help. But then I decided I wanted to spend some time in StarFleet instead. I haven't ruled out the corps, though.

G'Renn: ?

Kvash: So...what made you go into medicine?

G'Renn: ?
