(( Starbase 104 - Gorkon's Meatatorium ))
Not so many humans in Gorkon's. Some humans thought it was macho to drink bloodwine and eat Klingon food. They didn't like it, it just made them look tough.
Silly humans. They had their own ways to look tough. For example, polar bear swims. Which...brrr....now THAT was being tough in a particularly human matter.
Of course, Kvash liked some human beverages, including at least one that was viewed in much the same way.
Kvash saw the human out of the corner of her eye and turned slightly.
It was the new human engineer, Kimberly Stapledon. Cheerfully ordering bloodwine and gladst.
Kim Stapledon did *not* strike Kvash as the kind of human who aspired to Klingon ideals of machisma. She grinned and raised a hand.
Kvash: Hey!
Stapledon: ::Sipping her bloodwine:: Hi!
Kvash: Finding your way around the starbase I see.
Kvash grinned a toothy Klingon grin.
Stapledon: How are you?
Kvash: Glad to take a break. I'm writing a book and it's a lot of work.
Stapledon: Wow
Kvash: I have nobody to blame for myself.
Stapledon: Response
Kvash: It's probably not what you would expect. I'm writing a book on the anthropology of resort worlds and so-called sin worlds.
Stapledon: Response
Kvash: Risa is an interesting case. Endaasi, in this sector, is a similar example.
Stapledon: Response
Kvash: It is an interesting phenomenon, the devotion of entire islands or even entire planets solely to play. So...not so many humans *like* bloodwine.
Stapledon: Response
Kvash: :: grinning :: Well, I will remember that.
She did have a small stash and seldom had anyone to share it with.
Stapledon: Response
Kvash: By the way, the vryk is very good here.
Stapledon: Response
Kvash: Also, the cobbler next door is quite, quite competent.
Klingon footwear was an aspect of Klingon culture quite a few offworlders found an interest in; given Klingon culture, they tended to need tough, comfortable, durable boots with built-in protection, which were then popular with miners, laborers, and heavy metal fans of all species.
Stapledon: Response
Kvash decided she liked this young woman.
Kvash: You will do just fine on the Connie.
Stapledon: Response
