(( Saloon, Deck 10, USS Constitution-B ))
Getting into the more personal things wasn't something she use to do, but she felt comfortable enough to do so with him.
Terpes: I ocassionally enjoy activities that are exciting, but I prefer calmer ones, like hiking or swimming. Unfortunately hiking is not something you can do in a starship.
Perax: Facsimiles could be made in the arboretum, and there is always the holodeck.
Terpes: Yes, there's always holodecks, but somehow the air doesn't feel the same, the wind or the... feeling.
Perax: There’s a feeling that something isn’t quite right, that it’s not quite real.
Terpes: It works for an ocasional hiking, to stretch out, to relax the body, but the mind knows it's not real.
Perax: There were some experiments with ultra immersive holodecks; they ended up banned. The testers had problems recognising when the programs were turned off and when they were running. In a way, it’s better that the holodeck has that hollow feel to it. There’s not much scarier than not being able to tell fiction from reality.
Terpes: :: She nodded :: That's true. :: She thought it'd be better to leave it like that, not wishing to enter in details about her abilites. :: So, when do you want to go to the station?
Perax: Right, a date and time. How about two days so I can finish a few things for engineering and you can finish with your current patient list before shore leave is officially announced? How about ten o’ clock at the umbilical port?
Terpes: Good for me. I thought you might say a transporter room...
Perax: I’ve always liked walking through the umbilical port into the starbase. It’s like being outside the ship without the need for a suit.
Somehow that brought back the memory of Ba'el and Ch'Nilmani on the cargo bay after their... trip.
Terpes: A curious analogy... but I understand what you mean. I guess as an engineer that gives you the chance to both, see the ship from the outside and the station. Okay, the unbilical port, two days from now, ten o'clock.
She moved from the chair to stand and looked at Perax, touching his shoulder with one hand.
Terpes: Thanks for this. It's been nice.
With a smile she moved of to the entrance of the Saloon and left, noticing Perax sight over her. It was nice, it felt good, but she'd learned to walk the line of being cautious so she'll need time to fully trust anyone in general and him in particular, but for the moment, it was going well.
