(( Gangway - Tucker Station ))
Ba'el: I mean....::gestures to her self:: Don't let the uniform fool
you. I can be just as red of fang and Mek'leth as any Klingon warrior.
It's just...not the path I walk.
If anything, the Gorn had learned not to judge a person from outward
appearances. He'd seen traitors dressed as heroes and criminals with a
moral code. Nugra would not have assumed anything different with the
Klingon beside him.
Nugra: I can understand that. I just found it interesting.
Ba'el: ::Stops and turns to look at Nugra:: During my time on Boreth, I
could have followed the steps of many other Klingons. With my Houses
connections, I could have easily joined the Klingon Fleet as a junior
officer. With my training and focus, I would have been well on my way to
captaining a ship from my house in service to the empire.
Nugra: I see.
Ba'el: But I didn't. As I said, I walk another path. A path that was
shown to me on Boreth.
The Gorn Senior Command had never been to Boreth for obvious reasons.
Very few ever went among the Klingons themselves but the Gorn, though
not enemies, were not on good terms with the Klingons.
Nugra: Path?
Ba'el: ::looking unsure:: It's hard to explain. ::Looks at Nugra:: Do
your people have a belief in something beyond yourselves?
Ba'el did not know it but that question was a loaded one among his
people. In his travels, Nugra had noted that many people did not realize
there were actually three type of Gorn. There was worship of Suraka, a
violent primordial god which later became the religion of the Pale
Goddess fighting to stop the Dark goddess from opening the Gate of Ashes.
Nugra: We do and we do not. My people had a violent religion which
fueled a lot of animosity against others. The Federations initially
contact with us was due to Suraka worshipers. The other religion in our
Hegemony is that of the Pale Goddess but in actuality, most due not
believe anymore.
Ba'el: response
Nugra: I do believe in the pale goddess, so I am familiar with the
concepts of religion and paths laid out for us by a higher power.
The Gorn wasn't going to go into detail about the fact that he had died
at one point for awhile and was sure he had joined the Pale Goddess in
the defense of the gates as every great Gorn would.
Ba'el: response
Nugra: What did you find in this belief of something beyond oneself? If
I may ask.
