(( Bridge - USS Constitution-B ))
As the conversation continued on the bridge, Diz leaned back to
listen to what the Klingon woman had come up with.
Ba'el: ::Looks to Diz'mim:: Sir, What if we deployed a couple of
the Type 9 shuttles to act as a screen?
Ch'Nilmani: There sensors are going to be as hampered as ours.
What purpose would that serve?
Out of the possible ideas, this one was not one that Diz had been
expecting. There had to be more to it.
Ba'el: They won't necessarily extend our own sensor range, but
they could provide an early warning if anything approaches before
we get our sensors adjusted properly.
Hmm. That was sound. Especially with the limited sensors if they
had to go into the nebula.
Ch'Nilmani: I see. That is an interesting idea.
Ba'el: It would also give us additional assets in place should we
need to send further craft down to the surface for a quicker
response time.
T'Seva: If we do do this, it would be a relatively easy flight,
but still one that required attention. It might be good practice
for people who don't fly shuttles all the time.
Not a lot of things to run into out here and since this was a
scientific mission, it would be a perfect time to get practice in
where one usually didn't.
T'Seva: All they have to do is station keeping, albeit in a
slightly tougher environment. It seems like another good teaching
opportunity.
Ba'el turned to him seemingly making up her mind.
Ba'el: I think it will work Sir.
Ch'NIlmani: I concur. What's your plan?
Ba'el: We could pair up an experienced pilot with a novice, to
help train them, and take over if any problems come up.
There we go. The Klingon woman was figuring it out. The Andorian
made a mental note to check the counselor's service record to see
if she had any experience in the Klingon Defense Force. He would
have to customize her training if so.
Ch'Nilmani: Excellent. I believe the human phrase is killing two
birds with one stone. :: To Ba'el:: Today's duty roster should be
available on that left console. Go ahead and draft up a roster.
T'Seva: response, if any.
Ba'el: This will cover several possible scenarios. The flight
crews have a good mix of skills and experience to handle most any
situation. And the shuttles will be in positions and ready to
respond to whatever situation may come up.
Ch'Nilmani: I think that list is decently balanced. Go ahead and
implement it, Lieutenant.
Ba'el: response
((OOC: To clarify, the type-9 shuttles are npcs and are just
out there. ))
With that plan in place, Diz straightened and drummed his hands on
the armrests of Jalana's chair. It was time to get things moving.
Ch'Nilmani: Alrighty then. Let's get this sucker ready for the
nebula. You all know we're gonna wind up going in there in the
long run.
Ba'el: response
T'Seva: response
Ch'Nilmani: T'Seva, bring us to silent yellow alert. Shields
only.
T'Seva: response
Ch'Nilmani: Ba'el, one of the jobs of an First Officer is to
anticipate the needs of the Commanding Officer based on the
commands being given. In this case, since we're dealing with a
nebula and I'm calling for only shields, what do you think would
be the best thing to check and do to support that order?
Ba'el: response
Ch'Nilmani: Yes, that's a good thought. I know my request was
rather subjective but that's because you and I are not that
familiar in command together. As you serve your CO, you'll learn
what they mean and what they expect. Does that make sense?
Ba'el: response
Oh, Diz wished he had a swivel chair. It would have been fun to
spin between both of them.
Ch'Nilmani: Anything more on your sensor preparations? I know you
haven't had a lot of chance to look at it just yet.
T'Seva: response
Ba'el: response, if any.
