Shimisi: if it's not isolated we need to divert energy from there... Wait... I'm reading energy build up,... 39%... 41%, no, how's that happening?
Perax: It’s like Jurassic Park, but instead of trying to keep things running, we’re trying to keep them powered down to avoid catastrophe.
Aurdax: What Park?
Shimisi: I'm getting readings from deck two, wasn't that supposed to be offline??
Perax: Somebody must have reconnected and powered up the main deflector control station. Which is not good to say the least.
He tried to sound calmer than he felt, but the situation was serious, possibly critical.
Aurdax: Could it be the Sheliak?
Shimisi: Anyway, it's getting energy into the deflector and I'm reading a powerup of the hyperwarp... Doctor…
Aurdax: I’m doing everything possible to shut it down, but it looks like I can only slow it down.
Shimisi: =/\= Shimisi to Foster, we have a problem =/\=
Foster: =/\= What kind of problem? =/\=
Shimisi: =/\= Something has activated the hyperwarp drive. We're trying to contain it, but you need to speed up the process. We might have issues sending you additional power, so don't count on it fully =/\=
Foster: =/\= So we have to get as many as possible as fast as possible before we all end up stuck in another subspace rift.=/\=
Aurdax: =/\= Or more likely the whole ship blows up. =/\=
Perax: =/\= I can slow down the hyperwarp startup by bleeding its power to the empty phaser banks. It will cause arcing along the empty ports where the main phasers should be. I might even be able to fire a couple auxiliary phasers. Ultimately discharging the energy in those systems will burn them out, but it will keep the hyperdrive from finalizing its startup for a little while longer. =/\=
Aurdax: I can help with that process.
Shimisi: Do it!
Leran started to make the necessary changes to power flows, diverting power away from the hyperwarp drive.
Perax: ::he turned to Aurdax:: I won’t be able to help regulate the power supply to the transporter system using the phaser capacitors if those systems are keeping the drive from coming to full power.
Aurdax: Just tell me where you’re focused and I’ll help keep things shut down.
Shimisi: I'll take care of that, you focus on keeping us in one piece, let me worry about power distribution!
He finalized the changes and hit the confirmation switch knowing that the main phaser ports would become a sparking mess that might be seen on the hull. He aimed the auxiliary phasers in a direction that didn’t have anything along its vector and fired a continuous beam into space.
Perax: Now, I have to think of a more permanent solution before the phasers burn out.
It was all he could do, and the time was ticking down to destruction.
Aurdax: I don’t think there is a more permanent solution. I think we buy the time we can, and then we have to watch it burn.
Leran’s shoulders slumped. He knew she was probably right, but he didn’t like to lose. He had worked hard to get the ship functioning again, they all had, and now it didn’t matter. oO It’s not fair! Oo
Perax: Then let’s do what we can. ::he sighed::
Foster: =/\= Ok, we got them – all of them. S’jenes is over on the Aleek-Om spearheading the evacuation. Get everyone ready for beam out. =/\=
Aurdax: We should do whatever we can to delay the breach to give the Aleek-Om time to get out of the shockwave radius.
Perax: We need to get away, but the ship nor its explosion can enter the subspace rift if the Icarus manages to open one.
Shimisi: Okay, since the ship is doomed, I'll input a navigational course away and divert enegy to impulse!
Rajel: =/\= Rajel to anyone on the ship. The hyperdrive has been activated for reasons unknown to us. We are unable to stop its destruction. Grab what you could find and evacuate immediately. Rajel out. =/\=
Shimisi: You hear her, grab your things, collect all the data from their logs and get out of here!
Perax: I’ve got my tools. ::he picked up his toolkit::
Aurdax: Response
Shimisi: I'll go in a moment, get back and make sure the Aleek-Om transporters don't overload before I'm back!
Perax: I’ve got an idea! ::Leran hobbled as quickly as he could to the nuclear reactor.:: he released an access hatch and pulled out a couple duotronic circuit fuses, then flipped a handful of switches.:: I hate to do this.
With a pained expression he pushed a red button, and hobbled back to Aurdax as a doleful warbling alarm sounded.
Aurdax: response
Perax: I thought of a backup plan in case Lieutenant Shimisi’s plan doesn’t work or takes too long. I pulled all the control rods from the reactor core, and disabled the safeties.
Aurdax: response
Perax: One way or another we’ll scuttle the ship, hopefully before it can cause any damage. =/\= Perax to Aleek Om, two for emergency beam out. =/\=
((Transporter Room, Deck 3, USS Aleek Om))
Aurdax: Response
The blue shimmer receded from Leran’s vision, and he hopped down from the transporter pads, nearly falling as he landed on his feet and jarred his injured ankle. oO I really need to have that looked at. Oo Taking out his tricorder he quickly scanned the system and determined that it was working correctly. Someone had fixed the issue with the system. oO Motha did good work while we were gone. Oo
Shimisi: =/\= Shimisi to Aleek-Om, emergency transport!!! =/\=
Perax nodded to the transporter chief, and watched as Shimisi materialized on the transporter pad.
Perax: welcome back! =/\= Perax to Commodore Rajel, engineering team is back on board =/\=
Rajel: response
Shimisi/Aurdax: response.
Perax: =/\= If it isn’t too much trouble, could I have a medic meet me in engineering? I sprained my ankle and it’s making it difficult to move around. =/\=
Anyone: response
