((USS Constitution B - Astrometrics Lab))

It was done.  The Chrondite was off the hull and So’Mior felt like they could not only relax but logically it would be sounds to tend to both of their wellbeing.

Worry was not a Vulcan trait, but the quarter of him that was Human worried quite a bit. It took all of his Vulcan discipline to remain calm. Practice had taught him that remaining calm often ended up with the best outcomes.

So’Mior: We should find a cooler location to monitor the hull.

SydT: I couldn't agree more. ::She attempted to stand and felt her knees go weak.:: I might need a hand.

He offered her a steady heand to get up.

So’Mior: It is not a trouble, I will help however you need.

SydT: I'm not sure where the best place to go is. But I could use a nice cool Chai Tea. ::She knew it was an odd choice for her, but she had gotten a taste for it at the Academy. Her human roommate was always drinking it.::

He knew of the beverage, though he only ever remember tasting it once – while at the academy. It had been too sweet for him. But later he learned that the sweetness was options and he regretted not trying it again without the sweetness.

So’Mior: You did well.  Thank you for your assistance, Ensign.

SydT: Thank you. ::She took the Vulcans hand and allowed him to help her walk.:: Where to?

He headed out of the lab. The air was notably cooler in the hallway, which meant the heat was a localized phenomenon likely connected directly to the work they had been doing. So’Mior checked before the left that all systems were powered down.  And then he did not last scan just to make sure.

Once he was satisfied, he looked towards the hallway ahead.

So’Mior: There is a research lounge down this hallway with replicators and places for the researchers to rest during long shifts, I suggest we head there.

As they walked they could hear the natural thrumming of the Constitution’s drive. One of his colleagues likened it to a kitten purring. A fanciful, but not entirely inaccurate simile.

SydT: I don't know the engine well, but I would say she sounds better.

So'Mior: I believe you are right. Hopefully the ship can now protect itself.

They reached the lounge and found the inside was nicely dim and cool.  There were chairs, tables and two couches.

So'Mior: This is a good place to rest. We can monitor the hull from here and get refreshments.  ::he went to the replicators and requested an iced chai tea for SydT and a water for himself, deciding that after he was rested he might try the tea as well.:: How has your first mission on the Constitution been?

SydT: I do like it here so far. It's my first posting. And what about you?

He offered her the glass.

So'Mior: I have been here for over two years, but this was also my first posting. I have settled here and I find it a good place to learn and grow. It has been interesting growing up among the stars.

If he thought back he knew he had been on the ship for about four years. That might seem like it was a awfully long time to be an Ensign, but So’Mior was young for a human – he had not expected to get accepted into Starfleet academy on his first try.

But he was mostly Vulcan.  Meaning he was exceedingly young for a Vulcan.  His first Pon Farr would likely be well over a decade in the future – more likely two decades. He had a conversation early on with Commander Saveron to not move forward too fast. Some day, when So’Mior was more mature, more settled, more experienced in managing the combination of Human emotions and Vulcan stoicism, he would likely progress through the rank very fast.

But for now he remained where he was, learning as much about how to be an adult, a hybrid Vulcan, and his own person as he learned about Starfleet and science.

SydT: Yeah, the stars called to me as well. But I've spent most of my life being shuttled from one homeworld to another. :: She shrugged.::  This trip has been an adventure. I can't wait to see what happens next. ::She grinned as the cool air was beginning to work its magic.::

So'Mior: I believe there are many more adventures in our future.

SydT: ?

As they were drinking cool beverages the commline rang one more time.

Rajel: =/\= So'Mior, in exchange for their help, I promised to send down some Scientists and Medical to help with their research. It appears that the Kameryans have found flora on the planet that has medical applications they need on their homeworld. Can you prepare some scientists and botanist to send them down with medical officers to help their research? I'll inform medical to provide people as well. =/\=

So'Mior: =/\= Yes, Commodore, I would be pleased to do that for you. =/\=

Rajel: =/\= Fantastic, thank you. Rajel out. =/\=

Well, that was the benefit of being the Constitution’s longest ensign – you knew everybody and the Commodore herself trusted your administration of matters in medicine and science.  So’Mior recognized and appreciated the trust Commodore Rajel placed in him.

Even if he did have a hard time thinking of her as “Jalana.”

He turned back to SydT

So’Mior: Did you want to be on one of the teams, Ensign SydT?

SydT: ?

So’Mior: I admit I am highly curious about the rocks on the new planetoid. I would like to see the geological samples.

Rock nerd was always gonna nerd out about rocks.

SydT: ?

So’Mior: I expect we will not send teams until we all have a chance to rest.

SydT: ?

He offered the lightest smile. Just a soft expression on his still slightly soft features.

So’Mior: It was good working with you, Ensign.

SydT: ?
