((OOC: Sorry forgot Diz'mim's tags, here is a correction! ))
(( Bridge - Constitution ))
The Trill leaned against the console listening to T'Seva with a
little nod, her eyes on the console behind with a thoughtful look,
not actually looking at them just thinking.
Rajel: Yes I think it's not likely. I would expect natives if they
are fauna, but then who knows what natives to this kind of planet
look like. I don't know that we can't make out vital parts of the
messages becuase of this interference.
T'Seva: I don't know what we can do. We have atmospheric capable
probes, but they would have to be completely autonomous.
Rajel: That could become a whole problem on itself.
T'Seva: I'll keep working on improving comms. But at this point I
think I'd need to channel the spirit of the legendary Uhura.
Rajel: ::smirking:: Nothing wrong with that either. I hope that
So'Mior and Mingxing can make out what it is that makes this
nebula so difficult. Then we could try to filter it out or counter
it.
T'Seva: That would definitely help.
Rajel: Any news from your probe experiment? Has the connection
been stable?
T'Seva: Connection is stable, there is definitely something with
relative motion. We're in a stable orbit, though, so our relative
motion with the away team should be low.
Rajel: ::nodding:: I know that Starfleet is all about exploration
and seeing the new.. same with me being joined. But I do not like
that our teams are cut off like that. If something happens down
there we have no way to retrieve them.
T'Seva: All I can say on that is that we need to trust them.
Rajel: I know. It's the best crew I could ask for. I still prefer
to be able to lock the transporter on them. But.. we'll get there.
::With a deep breath she turned.:: Since we have the signal
enhancers even if still garbled.. can we get some better scans of
the surface?
T'Seva: Let's see what we can do.
Jalana leaned against the console next to T'Seva, letting her work
while she waited looking up to the viewscreen, once more wishing
she had a window on the bridge. She had one in her office but
couldn't see it form here. The screen however included a lot of
white noise.
T'Seva: I am getting life signs. Unfortunately, it isn't just the
away team.
She perked up at that, looking to the console.
Rajel: What do you mean? Who is it?
T'Seva: Meaning I can detect a lot of life on the planet, but not
exactly what it is. I would say that despite what one would
expect, there is a forest down there.
Rajel: ::hrmpfing:: Damn we need those sensors clear.
T'Seva: And the dynamic lifeforms could be wildlife, our teams, or
the other...wait.
Rajel: What? ::She looked at T'Seva::
T'Seva: If there are non-natives on the planet, how did they get
there?
Rajel: I would assume with a ship.
T'Seva: Exactly. If we can't see them, they probably can't see us,
but there's another ship in orbit somewhere.
Rajel: Hmm which is near impossible for us to find out with that
nebula disturbing us.
T'Seva: That is the challenge...but they will also be looking for
*us*. How can we use that...
Rajel: Another possibility is that they came in small crafts and
landed on the planet. Not everyone comes in a big ship and gets
dropped off. We've seen that numerous times.
T'Seva: Response
Rajel: I assume scanning for anything unusual or metallic on the
planet is not as easy as finding lifesigns, since we don't know
what's even down there.
T'Seva: Response
Jalana ran a face through her hair with a sigh. She was starting
to run out of idea. How could they use someone looking for them
for their advantage when their sensors couldn't even properly scan
the stationary planet under them?
Rajel: Is there-
Ch'Nilmani: =/\= Hey, Patches. We've got incoming. There is a
vessel approaching us at a good rate of speed. Not sure if your
scanners see it. Ba'el spotted it through visual outside the
cockpit. No clue who it is. =/\=
Jalana looked at T'Seva. A vessel approaching. She furrowed her
brow. They couldn't see it on the sensors, of course thanks to the
nebula so the theory now had some more facts on its side.
Rajel: =/\= We don't know anything about them yet, so keep at your
task but be on the lookout. =/\=
Ch'Nilmani: =/\= We're finishing our sweep quickly and heading for
the shuttle bay. Ba'el how you holding up? =/\=
Rajel: =/\= Alright, Bridge out. =/\=
The Trill looked to the screen, the purple blue mass with some
tiny specs she knew were the bees, and a few shuttles lined up in
the perimeter that didn't move. And the only way she knew they
were there was because they were static and the white noise and
interference always showed a different bit of them so her mind
'auto completed' the image.
Since T'Aven was still out to try and boost the signal enhancers -
and going by how long she had been working on it already it was
not very successful - the COMMs were rerouting to T'Seva's station
and now beeped.
T'Seva: Response
Rajel: Who is it from?
T'Seva: Response
The Trill turned to look at it with a focused frown.
Rajel: Looks like the computer doesn't know the signature. So it's
not the planet. But they are clearly hailing us. I assume it may
be the vessel Dizzy mentioned... ::However whatever they were
saying couldn't be deciphered by the computer. Was it a language
they didn't know yet? Were the interferences a problem with the
universal translator?:: Open a channel and hope that they can hear
us.
T'Seva: Response
Rajel: =/\= This is Commodore Jalana Rajel of the USS
Constitution. We are on a peaceful mission of exploration, we mean
no harm. =/\=
T'Seva: Response
No reply. That could mean anything. They already were on yellow
alert so she couldn't call for that. She had a weird feeling.
Rajel: Raise shields and tell Ba'el and Dizzy to get back inside.
I'll let shuttlebay know to lower the barrier for faster entry.
T'Seva: Response
Hearing that sound she stepped to the back of the bridge bringing
up the Engineering console. She was no engineer but the message
was clear. The shield had raised up, however they had failed less
than a minuet later because of the interferences. She pressed her
comm badge.
Rajel: =/\= Rajel to Mingxing, please tell me you made progress,
we got visitors and our shields keep failing as soon as we bring
them up. =/\=
Mingxing (Indirect So'Mior/SydT): Response
