After helping to get their injured security officer and mission specialist squared away in sick bay it was time for Jacob to make a few last minute preparations before heading off to meet Saveron, Lystra, and Cade in the shuttle bay to begin the next phase of their mission.  The ride down to the lower decks had taken longer than usual.  With power levels being diminished the lifts ran at a lower speed.

The place was bustling with activity.  The battle had left the ship in a bad way.  Systems offline.  Circuits fried.  Hull breaches.  Death and injuries throughout the ship.  Nacelles floating about - well not anymore.

Jacob wanted to jump in and get his hands dirty but Saveron had given him other orders.  He needed to make this quick.

First things first, he put in an order to have the undamaged type 11 shuttles prepped for immediate launch.  One was damaged and that meant they had five usable shuttles.  He requested that materials from engineering, security, ops, and medical be loaded on to the shuttle.  He figured the others would provide more specific items but he wanted to at least make sure they had some general search and rescue materials to work with once they were at the mine.  Jacob wasn't aware of any kind of status reports being filed by the away team so there was no way to know what they were running into.

Checking reports on some of the engineering support craft showed that both sphinx workpods were ok but only a single workbee had survived the battle without any damage.  They could probably get a second workbee going with a few hours of effort but Jacob wanted to focus on immediate results.  It wasn't as much vehicle support as Jacob would like to see but it was something and right now they just needed to start making some progress.

Both workpod craft were immediately assigned operators and began to make repairs to the ship hull.  The workbee was assigned an operator to essentially shuttle materials to the workpods and the swap out operators as needed.  It was not easy to be cooped up inside of these support craft for long periods of time and Jacob didn't want to waste the time of bringing the vessels back inside the stardrive section to swap out personnel.  Speed and efficiency was the name of the game.

For the interior his main priority was to get the shields back online.  Even just the main deflector dish would be a big win as it would protect them from dust and rock and other space debris traveling at high speeds.  Without any kind of shielding they were sitting ducks.

It was a complicated system of energy generators, relays, power conduits, emitters, resisters, phase modulators, and more.  It was going to take a little time to completely diagnose and repair.  And with lower power levels he couldn't brute force his way through by running several diagnostics at once.  He had to remind himself to slow down and remember that the simplest explanation was more likely to be true than the most complicated one, so he made some notes with a few ideas and sent it off to the team handling the shields.

Jacob looked around for the Chief, wanting to let them know that Jacob would be part of the away team but it would have to wait.  The Chief was right in the middle of a huddle to discuss repairs to the engines and Jacob didn't want to interrupt.  It was difficult to leave all of this work to someone else but Jacob shot a note to the Chief's PADD and headed to the shuttle bay.

((Shuttle Bay 2))

He took a little longer in engineering than he had planned on but he should have known better.  He wanted to be in the shuttle bay first to oversee shuttle preparations but got carried away with helping to organize the repair efforts.

As Jacob strode into the shuttle bay the teams were still loading the final materials for the mission to the mine.  Lystra had rounded up a solid contingent of security personnel who, with weapons in hand and stoic faces on display, looked rather intimidating as far as Jacob was concerned.  He felt like they would be able to handle whatever problems they were about to run into at the dilithium mine.

Jacob found the logistics lead and asked to read over their PADD.  With a quick glance Jacob could see that everything was in order, the shuttles looked ready, and they were almost fully loaded.  He expected nothing less from this crew.  Jalana was fair but she also expected a lot out of her people and that expectation was something that Jacob knew each department took seriously.  Nobody wanted to let Jalana down.

Jacob turned to Saveron to give the update.

Horne: Shuttles are just about ready for launch.  Final materials being loaded now.

Saveron/Any: ?

Horne: Teams have been deployed to work on damaged systems.  I have two sphinx workpods working on closing up the hull breaches and I put an emphasis on shields in case the Syndicate have any friends in the area.  The Chief is heading up engine repairs.

Saveron/Any: ?
