((Sickbay, Deck 5 - USS Icarus))
She heard the huff from Charlotte but looked around Sickbay for any signs of further paranormal activity.
Brexis: I can feel something.
Lystra: Like what? The willies? Creeps? Heebie-jeebies? Cause I’m right there with you.
Charlotte waved her hand around.
Brexis: I don’t know what it is. I’ve… I’ve never felt anything like this before.
Lystra: Is it something alive?
She wasn’t well versed in Betaoid abilities beyond the fact some were only empathic and some telepathic and could sense things others couldn't. She honestly didn’t know if they could sense ghosts or not too. Which was equal parts unnerving and cool at the same time.
Foster: Sentient?
A static of emotions slammed into her. Terror, confusion, incoherent yelling and pain. She shook her head trying to push it away without losing the connection.
Brexis: Whatever is– or was here it’s not very happy…
Lystra: Yep, the phaser’s staying out this time.
Her protective side kicked in and she started scrutinizing the room more closely. Yet she maintained her Security discipline. Just because she had her phaser out didn’t mean she was going to start shooting up the place.
Foster: Another floating mess in here…
This is outrageous. I can not believe the audacity.
Lystra: If you want me to holster the phaser I can, there’s no need to be upset with me.
She looked back at the other two with a slight frown a moment before the hairs on her neck stood up and she shivered a little as she realized whatever she’d just heard was not either of the two of them.
Brexis: No one said anything…
Foster: Did you hear a voice?
Lystra: Cade…I think you may be right.. Charlotte, you said you can sense something right? Are you able to communicate telepathically or are you just empathic? Can Betazoids talk with ghosts? ::she asked wryly:: Oooh, looks like someone had some non-regulation medicine in their drawers. ::she giggled::
Trying to stay on task she opened another drawer in the same cabinet that now had dead tribbles floating away from it and found two PADDs inside, along with what looked like a half full bottle of what appeared to be three hundred year old Scotch. She let it and the PADDs float out of the drawer and then poked the bottle so it would slowly drift towards Cade. Floating end over end.
Brexis: Well, ::her eyes following the bottle as it floated:: I am full Betazoid. Telepathic and empathic. I have some pretty heavy mental walls I keep up, but whatever I’m feeling is… different. I’ve never felt this. It’s like some kind of static and a lot of confusion. I’m sorry, I can’t really explain it better than that.
Lystra: It’s alright. I can’t imagine how that must feel and protecting yourself takes priority, so try not to lower those walls too much.
Charlotte pointed to the bottle.
Foster: Tribbles and scotch. An odd combination. Neither regulation. Though the bottle hasn’t been opened.
She nodded in agreement.
Brexis: Are we going to celebrate after this is all over? ::Rubbing the back of her neck as best as she could through the suit:: This is making my head hurt.
Foster: I’m game if you are. I’ll put it in a sample case just in case we have any more… gravity issues.
Lystra: Good call. That would be a waste.
She was about to open the next drawer in front of her when she heard Charlotte’s startled cry and spun around to see her jump back a bit. Lystra’s phaser whipped up and held at the ready while she looked for a potential threat and found none.
Brexis: What in the Four Hells was that?!
Seeing Charlotte struggling to keep herself upright Lystra moved over to place a hand on the back of her suit to help steady the other woman.
Foster: What happened? Are you OK?
Brexis: I felt someone standing right in front of me!
Lystra: I’ve got you. You said felt, did you hear anything when you sensed them?
She caught Cade using his tricorder just then but the look on his face suggested it wasn’t good.
Foster: No… not nothing. There are no lifesigns, true. But there’s a decaying amount of Teleron radiation, as if there was a burst right at the time that Lieutenant Brexis felt the presence.
A groan escaped Lystra at the mention of teleron radiation.
Lystra: Great.
Brexis: ?
Foster: Teleron radiation has been connected to time displacement and subspace rifts. Problematically it’s a by product, not a cause. So it’s more useful in tracking rather than controlling.
Lystra: I suppose finding teleron radiation is better than finding chronitons. But, if we can track it then that’s useful.
Brexis: ?
Foster: If they did enter a subspace rift and something went wrong it’s possible that some of the crew survived. Though I hesitate to define some. It could be some of the fifty that were originally on the Icarus, or it could be some of each individual crew remained like an imprint without a whole body.
She made sure Charlotte was alright before she lowered her supporting hand and glanced around the room with her own tricorder, still ready with that phaser if needed but so far there was nothing that screamed actual threat, so it was lowered for now.
Lystra: There are fainter telerons near that door you opened Cade. I wonder if the interference hadn’t been obstructing our tricorders earlier if we would have detected telerons with the moving PADD?
Brexis/Foster: ?
She looked at Cade for a moment. If some of the crew of the Icarus might be alive, and possibly displaced they should let the other teams know to track teleron radiation.
Lystra: I suppose we don’t have enough information for it to be more than a theory, but if there’s a chance some of the Icarus crew survived…displaced somehow or even if just their imprinted memories do, we should let the other teams know to look for teleron radiation. If they detect any in their areas of the ship it might lend more credence. Or, could rule out this merely being localized to Sickbay.
She looked up at the ceiling where the facial imprint of one of the Icarus’ crew remained. She truly hoped not all of the crew had met that fate. That was a horrible way to go.
Brexis/Foster: ?
She snatched one of the two PADDs still floating in the air out of it and held it out for Charlotte or Cade to scan.
Lystra: Any chance one of these has enough juice to link to a tricorder?
Brexis/Foster: ?
