(( USS Constitution-B – Engineering ))
Young for a human and very young for a Vulcan, Ensign So’Mior was a quiet young man who enjoyed spending long hours in a science lab. He had been onboard the USS Constitution for a few years now, and felt safe here, even if he almost always declined away mission opportunities.
He had been through some traumatically dangerous things in his first few months of Starfleet service, and requested time to step back, recuperate, and recalibrate. Now he was good with being called upon when needed, slowly feeling more at ease with his decision to join Starfleet while knowing all the dangers associated with the role.
Shimisi: =/\= Shimisi to So'Mior =/\=
So'Mior: =/\= So’Mior here, go ahead, Lieutenant. =/\=
His tone was professional and polite, a softspoken academic.
Shimisi: =/\= I hope I don't get you in the middle of something important, but I need your help =/\=
He blinked and considered. He was cataloguing mineral samples, which was a thing he very much enjoyed, and very few other people found enjoyable or particularly high priority.
Well, the minerals would not spoil. Or as Lieutenant Drake liked to say ‘your rocks will wait.’
So'Mior: =/\= I am able to divert my attention, what is the query?=/\=
Shimisi: =/\= Some of my staff is out in the shuttles as some of science ranking officers, so I was wondering if I can count on you to try and sort out the problems we're having with the sensors =/\=
Sensor errors had not been his specialty when he was in the academy, but since he was posted to the Constitution-B he had become quite familiar with her sensors, not only for missions but for his own duties.
Funny enough, he had also become increasingly familiar with how to resolve sensor issues. Having a solid science background helped with that. He lightly wondered if this was become his reputation? If so it was not a bad one.
So'Mior: =/\=Certainly, Sir. Where would you like to work on the sensor issues?=/\=
Shimisi: =/\= I can get to you, if you're in a science lab or in any other place where we can analyze what we've go so far, I can uplink engineering data to see how we can improve our data gathering =/\=
So'Mior: =/\=I am currently on Deck 9, Research lab 17.=/\= ::He considered a moment and then added. =/\=The Research labs are customizable, or Stellar Cartography is on this deck and has the best sensor access.=/\=
Shimisi: =/\= ?
The assent was quick and focused. So’Mior was happy to go wherever he needed to in order to get a job done properly.
So’Mior: =/\= Yes, Sir. That is amenable.=/\=
Shimisi: =/\= ?
So’Mior: =/\= Before we meet is there any specific spacial interference from the nebula that we should focus on? =/\=
Shimisi: =/\= ?
Again, while it wasn’t his specific focus, he was fairly well versed in spacial phenomenon. They weren’t that different than xenogeology.
So’Mior: =/\= Yes, I am knowledgeable on the subject. I will ensure we can connect to the science databanks so we can correlate the possible effects that would hamper or damage our sensor readings.=/\=
Shimisi: =/\= ?
