MSNPC Lieutenant JG Lavin L’Tang - Almost Exploded

The lights in the room flickered.

Zheng: They have the engine at 10% power. 

Lavin looked over to see that Zheng was looking over the shoulder of one of the other people in EV suits. The one with five eyes.

Aurdax: [IS THERE ANY REASON WE SHOULD NOT TRY TO RESTORE POWER TO YOUR SHIP?]

L'Tang: They want to restore power to more of the ship.

Atwi: Even if they are spies, if they are trying to restore power we should let them.

L'Tang: That would give them access to our systems.

Atwi: If they are Starfleet, it will be fine. If they are spies, well, it'll be easier to figure out a solution with the ship lit up.

L'Tang: [BE CAREFUL. OUR DILITHIUM CRYSTALS ARE BROKEN; WE NEEDED TO JURY-RIG OUR SYSTEMS TO ESCAPE THE LAST RIFT.]

Aurdax: [WE MAY BE ABLE TO BRING NEW DILITHIUM FROM OUR SHIP]

A thought occurred to him.

L'Tang: [WHERE IS YOUR SHIP? IS IT NEARBY?]

Aurdax: [IN THE GAMMA CANARIS REGION]

Is that where the Icarus was too? He wished to see their ship. It would be more proof that they were telling the truth.

Aurdax: [WE ARE WORKING TO RESTORE POWER TO THE ICARUS BRIDGE]

L’Tang: [THAT SHOULD BE ACHIEVABLE.]

L'Tang: They are trying to restore power to the bridge now.

Lavin watched as they messed with the controls bringing power back online. It was several minutes before she typed anything again.

Aurdax: [IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD BE CAREFUL ABOUT?]

Lavin wasn't sure how to respond to that. He wasn't sure what they did or didn't know about. 

L’Tang: [NO.]

Aurdax: [YOU SAID YOU MADE SEVERAL JUMPS. CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED?]

L’Tang: [CLASSIFIED.]

When Lavin looked up again he saw that Zheng had moved over to the one with the spots. 

Zheng: He keeps increasing the power... I guess they are trying to activate the drive.

L'Tang: They said that they could bring dilithium from their ship. Why would they not replace the broken dilithium first?

Atwi: Unless they don't realize that we switched it to automatically activate when we were trying to escape the rift.

Lavin noticed that the Denobulan was typing again.

Aurdax: [OUR COMMANDER WANTS TO HELP SAVE YOUR CREW. CAN YOU TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT THEM SO WE KNOW WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR?]

L’Tang: [I AM A VIOLACEAN. THERE ARE MANY HUMANS. A CAITIAN]--

Zheng: Hyperwarp is activating. 

Lavin looked up from the PADD as Zheng spoke. 

Aurdax: [IS YOUR SHIP SET TO AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGE THE HYPERWARP DRIVE?]

L’Tang [YES. WE CHANGED IT TO HELP ESCAPE THE LAST RIFT.]

Aurdax: [HOW DO WE SHUT DOWN THE HYPERWARP DRIVE?]

L’Tang: [I ASSUMED YOU WANTED IT ON.]

That was what they were here for wasn't it?

Aurdax: [IF WE DON’T GET THE HYPERWARP DRIVE OFFLINE IT WILL SEND MATTER AND ANTIMATTER INTO THE INTERMIX CHAMBER, AND WITH THE BROKEN DILITHIUM CRYSTALS, THIS SHIP WILL EXPLODE.]

They were getting nowhere like this. Spies or not these people would get them all killed before the Icarus crew could do anything.

L’Tang: [I INFORMED YOU THAT THEY WERE BROKEN. THEY ARE NOT DE-CRYSTALLIZED, BUT THE ENERGY FLOW IS UNSTABLE. IN ORDER TO USE THEM WE HAD TO REROUTE POWER THROUGHOUT THE SHIP.]

Aurdax: [response]

After a moment he continued. 

L'Tang: [AFTER WE BECAME STUCK IN THE RIFT ALL WE CARED ABOUT WAS LEAVING THE RIFT. WE REALIGNED WHAT DILITHIUM WE HAD SO THAT WE COULD CREATE A WORMHOLE EFFECT IN TANDEM WITH USING THE HYPERWARP DRIVE TO ESCAPE.]

Zheng: The one with the many eyes has decreased power.

Aurdax: [response]
