(( Main Armory - Deck 28 - USS Constitution-B ))
Maybe it was his old Andorian habits or maybe he just liked weapons but
Diz'mim Ch'Nilimani felt the importance of accounting for every weapon
aboard ship. Just in case things went bad. Though it didn't appear to be
a problem aboard the Federation vessel but in the Andorian fleet,
everyone tried to keep a personal weapon when they weren't supposed to.
Re-racking the forty third Type 3-2400 phaser rifle after reading out
it's serial number to the security officer following him, he reached for
the next.
Ch'Nilmani: What are the weights on these new 2400s?
Turner (NPC): three kilograms. Shaved off one and a half kilogram in
weight with the shortened barrel and simpler compression chamber.
Ch'Nilmani: Meaning?
Turner (NPC): Easier to use in close quarters combat and only has a stun
and lethal setting. Also a single and full automatic?
Ch'Nilmani: No sustained?
Turner (NPC): No, sir. Starfleet Designs felt that the sustained burst
was to hard on the compression chamber and splitting lens. Higher
failure rate.
Ch'Nilmani: :: chuckling :: Sounds like someone who hasn't tried to take
down a Breen shock troop.
Turner (NPC): Sir?
Ch'Nilmani: Nothing, Ensign. Serial number AKF-1193483-B.
Turner (NPC): Check.
Before he could reach for the next one, the Andorian's commbadge chirped.
Rajel: =/\= Rajel to Diz’mim. Come to the bridge, we found a...
surprise. =/\=
Ch'Nilmani: =/\= I'm always up for a good surprise. I'll be right there.
=/\=
The channel closed and he handed the PADD over to the ensign. Jalana's
voice didn't sound concerned but curious. That was refreshing. Didn't
mean they were getting shot at yet.
Ch'Nilmani: Finish this count, get your chief to sign off, and send it
to me.
Turner (NPC): Yes, sir.
(( Bridge - USS Constitution-B ))
The trip to the bridge was brisk and when the door hissed opened,
Diz'mim found the bridge filled and busy.
Rajel: T’Aven pull us back a bit, maybe we can see it better then.
See it better?
Ch'Nilmani: What do we have, O' Captain, my Captain.
Rajel: It takes a moment to see, but have a look.
Diz plopped down in his First Officer chair and leaned forward staring
at the screen. The swirl of the nebula was confusing and made him blink
a few times but then he spotted it. A solid object.
Ch'Nilmani: Is that what I think it is?
Rajel: What do you think, Dizzy. Do we have time to check it out? ::She
grinned cheekily::
Ch'Nilmani: :: laughing :: I think you already made that decision. When
can Starfleet turn down a good scientific mystery?
T'Seva: There's a lot of energy in this nebula. Just...pointing that out.
Lystra: You say that, but it’s still maybe a planet. A tiny one…or a
moon. Which are only slightly less as bad as a planet.
Ba'el: ::Looking up from her display:: This reminded me of an excerpt
from a reported incident in the Klingon Empire.
Ch'Nilmani: Which one?
Rajel: response
Ba'el: Apparently, on a previously unknown world located in a nebula
known as the Klach D'kel Bracht to the Klingon Empire, also known as the
"Briar patch" to the Federation, a previously unknown colony of
discommendated Klingons was discovered. So, it is possible that this
might be the location of another such hidden colony.
Huh. There sounded like there was more to that story than the Klingon
woman was saying. Where were the salacious details?
Lystra: We should be careful though, I recommend that we launch a class
three probe to see if we can get a clearer view of that thing. Right now
the sensors are having a hard time. One moment it shows as having a weak
atmosphere, then a thick one, then it doesn't have one at all. A probe
or two might help us compensate for the nebula. A class three and a
class four probe would cover the stellar and planetary possibilities.
Ch'Nilmani: Probe is standard procedure but I sincerely doubt we're
going to get a better reading. That nebula looks really charged.
Rajel: response
Lystra: I know not many have come through here before but you’d think
Starfleet’s initial stellar cartographers would’ve noticed signs of
Peekaboo here.
Ba'el: The previously undiscovered colony world Ba'ku had gone
undiscovered by the Federation and the Empire for nearly a century
before finally being found. So it isn't impossible for this to happen
again I would think?
Ch'Nilmani: Nope.
Rajel: response
Diz sat back steepling his hands in front of him but then grinned
turning to Jalana.
Ch'Nilmani: I think this is a great opportunity to add more to what we
know about the sector. Not to mention :: gesturing to screen ::
mysterious planet.
Rajel: response
Anyone: response
Ch'Nilmani: ::winking:: I'm also willing to consider letting you go
down. Regulations and all.
Anyone: response
Diz'mim stood stretching and walked to the center while studying the
screen.
Ch'Nilmani: Is there even a safe way through that soup to... ::to
Lystra:: What did you call it?
Lystra: response
Ch'Nilmani: Ah. Peekaboo. Anyway we can get safely to Peekaboo?
T’Seva: Response
T'Aven: response, if any.
Ch'Nilmani: :: To bridge :: Anyone else have anything they want to input?
Anyone: response
