(( USS Constitution-B, Bridge ))

Lystra stifled a slight yawn as she leaned back and stretched her arms above and behind her head. This was the third such flight they’d done in a row. Running errands from one place to another. Something some might think only ships like the California class had to do, but that just wasn’t true. Every ship and crew needed a break from the life threatening or galactic threatening goings on. And while it was soooooooo boring, she was actually okay with doing another ‘milk run’.

She’d heard a Human refer to these types of missions in that way but couldn’t imagine why anyone would want to run with milk. The Boslic glanced around the bridge from her seat at the Security console on the right side of the bridge. Everyone was diligently at work and the image of the nebula in front of them was quite soothing. She liked the mix of purples, blues and pinks as she looked at the viewscreen.

Rajel: Scanners?

T’Seva: Not getting anything, I'm afraid.

Jalana nodded and Lystra leaned back in the holographic chair she was in, looking at T’Seva at the tactical arch. There were few nebulae that didn’t play havoc on sensors to some degree.

Rajel: You heard it, you’ll have to fly manually.

T’Aven: Understood, Sir. Switching to manual controls.

Rajel: Indrid, use what little sensors we have to collect data about the nebula. Barely anyone has been down here far enough to get any information.

Yirah: Response

Rajel: =/\= Bridge to Engineering. I need you to try to improve our sensors. I know it’s difficult but I need to be able to see where we are flying. =/\=

Mingxing: =/\= Response =/\=

When Jalana stood up Lystra had a funny thought, considering how often she’d seen the Trill or really anyone who sat in the big chair get up and pace around the bridge over the years. If they remodeled the floors properly  they could supplement the ship’s power systems in emergencies just from the kinetic energy.

The alert snapped her out of the amusing thought real quick and she straightened in her seat.

Rajel: Full stop.

T’Aven: Engines disengaged.

Rajel: Can you make out anything on the screen?

T'Seva: I think there might be some kind of...clump? I'm seeing an opaque area.

Lystra: Right? It’s like one of those visual illusion pictures from Earth you have to cross your eyes slightly to see the hidden image.

Anyone on the bridge:  Response

Curious, Lystra faced her console and accessed the sensors since it was set up to act as both Security and Tactical in case she needed to support T’Seva.

Rajel: Anyone got an idea what we’re seeing?

T'Seva: I think it's a rogue planet.

Lystra: Sweet Stars….I think, she’s right.

Anyone on the bridge: Response

Rajel: What? There wasn’t anything mentioned on the charts when we prepared the flight path. ::She turned to the screen again.:: Can you scan it?

She looked back at Jalana and shrugged, equally surprised.

T'Seva: Negative. I still can't get the sensors calibrated for this mess.

Lystra: Same, ma’am. The nebula isn’t helping things but there’s definitely mass to it. I’m  able to discern a gravity well…I think.

Anyone on the bridge: Response

Rajel: =/\= Rajel to Diz’mim. Come to the bridge, we found a... surprise. =/\=

Ch'Nilmani: =/\= Response =/\=

Rajel: T’Aven pull us back a bit, maybe we can see it better then.

Lystra watched the viewscreen as their helmswoman backed them off from the object in front of them.

Rajel: It takes a moment to see, but have a look.

Ch'Nilmani: Response

With a better view farther away from it it did seem to have a spherical shape to it, and didn’t look Borg or anything artificial.

Rajel: What do you think, Dizzy. Do we have time to check it out? ::She grinned cheekily::

Ch'Nilmani: Response

T'Seva: There's a lot of energy in this nebula. Just...pointing that out.

Lystra: You say that, but it’s still maybe a planet. A tiny one…or a moon. Which are only slightly less as bad as a planet.

Despite her usual consternation and dislike for celestial bodies there was a slight excitement in her sparkling white eyes and posture. After having so much not happening she might not mind if that moon started shooting at them. No, being shot at still sucked. But this was likely going to be a nice break from monotony.

Also, T’Seva was right. This nebula had a fair amount of energy moving through it.

Anyone on the Bridge: Response

Rajel/Ch’Nilmani: Response

Lystra: We should be careful though, I recommend that we launch a class three probe to see if we can get a clearer view of that thing. Right now the sensors are having a hard time. One moment it shows as having a weak atmosphere, then a thick one, then it doesn't have one at all. A probe or two might help us compensate for the nebula. A class three and a class four probe would cover the stellar and planetary possibilities.

Anyone on the Bridge: Response

Rajel/Ch’Nilmani: Response

Lystra: I know not many have come through here before but you’d think Starfleet’s initial stellar cartographers would’ve noticed signs of Peekaboo here.

Did she just give a nickname to the moon, planet thing? Yes, yes she did. And in case this turned out to be like a giant egg or something it was a suitable name for any spaceborn lifeform that might pop out. Which wouldn't be the first time they'd run into one.
