((Operations Center - Hermes Station))
Ren couldn't help but let out the slightest sigh of relief when they materialized safely in the station and not out into the aether.
He noticed that Torrel already had her phaser in her hand.
Torrel: Shimisi, Bosko! Kapoor said you guys were in trouble! ::Looking around the OPS center and lowered her voice:: Something about changelings?
Shimisi: Yes, we have one, but we’re not sure there isn’t another one or more around.
oO They have one? How? Oo
If Ren had eyebrows one would be raised right about now.
Bosko: Ah! Yes, indeed. One absolutely never knows what sort of unpleasantness might be lurking around the corner or suddenly appearing in a flash of light, of course, but at present we have fully secured one of those indecorously deceptive invaders!
Torrel fully holstered her phaser and breathed a sigh of relief.
Torrel: Oh- well, that makes the first part of things easier.
Zeylinn: We are also here to look for the commodore. There is a shielded section of the station that sensors cannot penetrate. Intelligence believes that may be where the commodore is being held.
Ren nodded.
Shimisi: A shielded section? Where?
Bosko: How incredibly curious! I wonder if this was something built for some specific functional purpose as part of the outpost, or if it was intended to be some sort of clandestine prison? Still, one can't fault the efficacy! Interestingly, many of the ships I've worked on have had shielded sections meant to avoid sensor sweeps for the discreet storage of interesting trade goods!
Ren glanced at the man with the twisted mustache curiously. oO Smuggler? Oo
Torrel: What’s the plan, lieutenants?
Zeylinn motioned to Torrel, who showed the PADD with the scan results to the other two officers.
Zeylinn: If the space is in close proximity, I can attempt to telepathically contact the commodore. I am Aenar. The specific plan to access that section is best decided as a group effort.
Shimisi: Okay, I have not checked that zone particularly before, so if you let me I’ll check that zone, now that I know what to look for.
Bosko: Excellent choice, sir. Lieutenant Shimisi is absolutely unparalleled when it comes to checking zones, I would have to assume! While he makes those zonal checks, I myself shall wait nearby in a state of catlike readiness!
He picked up a PADD and began to twirl his moustache.
Bosko: Hmm, yes. I see ... perhaps if I ... no, no, that would only work if we had access to a powerful turbine and some trained moopsies ...
Torrel: Moopsies? No thank you.
Ren chuckled.
Felbri: I'm not sure if an Elaysian would taste good to a moopsie given the bone structure.
Shimisi spoke up.
Shimisi: I’ve found a power surge with a pattern. The computer identifies it as an old kind of signal that means… SOS, a call for help.
Zeylinn: That can’t be a coincidence.
Shimisi: It seems to coincide with the area you claim to be shielded. :: looking at the group :: I believe it’s quite clear what’s our next destination…
Bosko: I suppose somewhere scenic, sun-drenched, free of shapeshifting invaders and offering a tasteful selection of cocktails is out of the question? It probably is. I jest, of course! I myself cannot wait to be once again threatened with incineration by any number of shapeshifting terrorists! To the rescue it is! Cavalry sallying forth, and so forth!
Torrel: I like your attitude.
The group moved towards the place where the shielded section was located.
Shimisi: Can you sense anything yet?
Zeylinn: Malicious intent. Somewhere close.
Bosko: Assuming these hunches are in fact correct and there is an extremely antiquated rhythmic code being issued via power surges, do we have any sort of collective plan for how to get into said sealed and shielded area? They're often quite tricky to find, let alone open, at least with the ones my family used to store some of our more cherished keepsakes and questionably-legal trade goods.
Ren side-eyed Bosko.
Shimisi: You're right, but we have the location of those surges, we have the shielded readings they've brought to us :: signaling Torrel, Felbri and Zeylinn :: so we know were to look, just have to find out what kind of place it is and how difficult will be to access it.
Zeylinn: Hopefully I will have answers soon.
Felbri: Alright.
He didn't want to distract her from her task.
Bosko: If it helps, I did bring along a number of tools from the Constitution originally intended to help Lieutenant Shimisi, including some simply marvelous decouplers and a spatial resonance scanner useful for tracking conduits, maintenance access shafts, and so forth. Also a large prybar! I didn't actually bring that one from the ship, I just found it in one of the construction areas on the station, but it's very reassuringly hefty!
Torrel: That’s good. We were being told the ship was soon to be attacked by the pirates returning. If that has happened already then they can’t lower shields to beam us back up for more supplies.
Torrel looked upwards.
Shimisi: You're certainly a man of resources. All those will come handy when we get there. I believe we're just a few section away. Anything yet?
Ren nodded in agreement.
Lieutenant Torrel glanced at Lieutenant Zeylinn.
Zeylinn: We’re closer than a few sections away… I can sense someone I’ve met before. Lieutenant Commander Herren. She’s scared. In pain.
oO Not good. Oo
