(( Holodeck 2 ))
The Cardassian standing with the group took a small step back.
Akeelah did not have to read her mind to know that she would not
agree to have her mind read for this cause. Luckily they didn't
have to.
Applegate/Kvash: Response
((OOC I checked with Jon beforehand))
Akeelah gestured her to come closer and held out her hand to
Applegate.
D'Sena: While physical contact is not necessary it will make it
easier to focus on your thoughts and emotions for the projection.
Please stand or sit in a comfortable position to not offer a
distraction. Then focus on your regret and your apology and I will
translate for the creature.
Applegate/Kvash: Response
((OOC Since Jonathan is unable to write I checked this with him so
we can continue ))
The Rodulan closed her eyes and held Applegate's hand in hers. The
other she lowered on the stone artifact, even though as she said
that was not necessary it helped her to focus.
D'Sena: You will experience some headaches as I try to read you, I
assure it is not on purpose. Just a side effect. But try to relax
and focus on what you would like to convey.
Applegate: Response
((OOC: The following depiction is only visible in the minds of
Applegate, the Artifact and Akeelah. They are blending out any
talking or what the others do. It will be very quiet for Kvash,
Leran and Tejan for a little while otherwise :) ))
Akeelah blocked out any possible talking or whisper beyond their
own bodies to focus on the task at hand. She carefully slipped
into Applegate's mind, not wishing to hurt her more than was
needed to find what she needed for this. She felt that slight
resistance that happened when the headache set in, she gave it a
moment before gently moving further, breaking through that
barrier. There would be so much to see, to find, but she focused
on the vital parts now. She felt it pulsing in Applegate's mind as
the woman tried to focus on it.
Carefully wrapping her own mind around this pulse Akeelah began to
transmit, to translate for the artifact, putting it into images it
would understand. Applegate would find herself in a mental image,
standing in these ruins with her colleagues. Surrounded by their
equipment with Sueth Rem scanning an area a few steps away, Mirei
Zaddatt updating data in their database hunching over items they
had dug out. Dr. Osbert Corriveau lamented over the possible
function of a piece of metal he held in his hand and Sidney
herself stood over the artifact before crouching down to pick it
up, carefully wiping a over its rough surface with a hand brush to
wipe off dirt and soil.
The artifact reacted to the scene with a pull, that pang of fear
resurfacing causing a gust of wind in the scene, the stormclouds
rolling in to bend the high grass to its ground. The Rodulan went
onto the next stage and carried the sense of regret - the sorrow
of having caused pain and fear by moving it away from its home -
from Sidney to the artifact's conscience, gently moving that
feeling to cover the fear, soothe it. It took a moment in which
the wind picked up, before it suddenly died down, leaving their
hair tousled, their faces reddened. Another moment later the
clouds in the sky broke apart and rays of sunlight shone down on
them. Akeelah let Sidney feel this for another brief period of
time but then carefully retreated from her mind and then let go of
her hand.
D'Sena: It accepted the apology.
Applegate/Kvash/Leran: Response
Akeelah kept her eyes closed and once more projected the images of
those that had been deaged to the artifact, requesting help to
turn them back to their old selevs. The silence that followed was
concerning for a moment but then the Rodulan felt that pulse, an
answer.
D'Sena: It wants to help us.
Applegate/Kvash/Leran: Response
Opening her eyes Akeelah moved back to her feet, picking the
artifact up to carry it in her arms.
D'Sena: Inform the First Officer and Medical. We need everyone
affected in one location for this to work. Like it started.
Applegate/Kvash/Leran: Response
D'Sena: Once the artifact is with our affected, we will have to
leave it alone with them to not be aged alongside them. This might
be our only chance so we have to hope it works.
Applegate/Kvash/Leran: Response
