( USS ICARUS – Deck 5 – Engineering )

They're finally getting some stable communication with the others, that seemed to have proven they're the original crew of the Icarus. That helped since there are many things they ignored and with them they could have enough information to get things working properly.

At a certain point they asked some question he feared they'll ask and given they're from more than a century ago, they should consider their reaction.

Perax: We should be careful when answering this question. First of all, we don’t know if they can see the Aleek Om, and second, if they can, a Nova Class while maintaining a Starfleet aesthetic, looks very different from the Starfleet ships of their day. They might conclude we are not who we say we are.

Shimisi: If we want them to be true to us and help us, we can't lie to them :: thinking and seeing their faces :: That doesn't mean we have to tell them everything right now.

Aurdax: Alright, I’ll tell them the Gamma Canaris region.  I’m not sure if they are even aware where they are right now.

Aurdax: [IN THE GAMMA CANARIS REGION]

L’Tang [ ? ]

Aurdax: Should I see if they have any other engineering insights?

Shimisi: Good thought. We could get information and our … friends there can read what we're doing. Now that we have a stable power, get some to the bridge, I'm sure they'

Aurdax: [WE ARE WORKING TO RESTORE POWER TO THE ICARUS BRIDGE]

L’Tang [ ? ]

Leran: Yes sir, restoring power to the Bridge. :: They waited a few minutes to see that everything was going smoothly :: bridge should have full power, life support, and computer library access.

Shimisi: Let's see if our friends have anything for us that we must be cautious, aside from the lack of dilithium crystals

Aurdax: [IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD BE CAREFUL ABOUT?]

L’Tang [ ? ]

Shimisi: I believe we can set this monitor to act as our comm line with them, it's bigger, it has more power than the padd and it should allow them to check the status monitor next to this.

Perax: I’m bringing main power online for sickbay, the shuttle bay, internal sensors, and ship wide life support. I’m increasing the reactor output to forty percent to cover the load.

Shimisi: If they can keep telling us what they did and what happened, we'll have better chances to repair the systems, help them to get back with us and bring this hip home.

Aurdax: [YOU SAID YOU MADE SEVERAL JUMPS. CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED?]

L’Tang [ ? ]

Shimisi: Let's see if we can get internal sensors working. They'll be more powerful than our tricorders and might be useful to check the whole ship.:: To dr. Aurdas :: Doctor, see if you can get any info from them that we can check with their database now that they're operative.

Aurdax: I will try.

Shimisi: It'll allow us to know if they're who they say they are, or at least, if they know things from the crew. Personal information will be better.

Aurdax: [OUR COMMANDER WANTS TO HELP SAVE YOUR CREW. CAN YOU TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT THEM SO WE KNOW WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR?]

L’Tang [ ? ]

Perax: The Hyperwarp drive is trying to come online.

He was surprised by that and instantly began checking the readouts.

Aurdax: Without us trying to bring it online? How?

Shimisi: Maybe there's a faulty relay that brought energy to the system

He followed the energy lines through the monitor to see if there's a jnction or conduit connected to the drive that might be faulty.

L'Tang: [ ? ]

Perax: I didn’t touch that system! It’s like it is hard coded to turn on when the ship reaches a certain power supply level.

While Aurdax tried to get an answer from the other people, he helped to locate what went wrong.

Shimisi: If the problem is in software, it might be difficult to stop it quickly. We should avoid it coming online through other means.

Perax: I wish we had Hexa and Peta right now. I don’t really want to, but I’m going to have to bring command functions online to override the default startup. ::he turned to Aurdax:: Ask L’Tang if he knows which command functions shut down the hyperwarp drive.

Shimisi: We can also lower the energy input from the nuclear reactor.

Aurdax: [HOW DO WE SHUT DOWN THE HYPERWARP DRIVE?]

L’Tang [ ?

Perax: I know I said to take what he said skeptically, but if we don’t get that hyperwarp drive offline before it sends matter and antimatter into the intermix chamber, we’ll blow to subatomic pieces because we have broken pieces of dilithium. There isn’t enough intact to run a regular warp drive this old.

Aurdax: [IF WE DON’T GET THE HYPERWARP DRIVE OFFLINE IT WILL SEND MATTER AND ANTIMATTER INTO THE INTERMIX CHAMBER, AND WITH THE BROKEN DILITHIUM CRYSTALS, THIS SHIP WILL EXPLODE.]

L’Tang [ ?

Once again she called out exactly what the PADD stated.

Shimisi: Getting into the power system, I'll decrease the energy input...

Perax: ?

Aurdax: I would have to assume that whoever or whatever is speaking to us they have an interest in self preservation, even if they don’t care about us – or even the Icarus – the Icarus is critical to the survival of any life forms onboard.

L’Tang [ ? ]

Shimisi: I'm sure they will. I'm decreasing the energy output,... to thirty five percent.

Since the problem started with the energy output raising above forty percent it seemed logical to bring it down fo the system to stop activating.

Perax: ?

Aurdax: Theoretically? Yes, I know exactly how hyperwarp works. Physically in an engineering sense? Hyperwarp functions with a massive infusion of power from the dilithium crystals poured into the subspace interference deflectors that creates the rifts. Cutting power at either end should tell the system to stop the process.

L’Tang [ ? ]

Shimisi: Just what I was thinking... lowering input. I'm also trying to shutdown the deflectors, if we disconnect them, we might be able to increase the input without risk of hyperwarp activation.

Perax: ?

As they're working on the problem, the comm activated bringing the voice of S'Jenes.

S’jenes: =/\= All away teams, this is S’jenes, We have made contact with one of the apparitions. The entity identified herself as Lieutenant Junior Grade Barb Byrnes, communications officer of the Icarus. Based upon the information obtained during the exchange, we currently assess that the apparitions are phase-shifted survivors rather than residual energy phenomena. We established communication using tricorders as a localized dampening field and electromagnetic carrier waves to temporarily synchronize phases which has allowed for 32 seconds of direct communication. We are investigating ways of extending said communication and have identified a repeating pattern within the phase variance which may be key to further communication. If your teams have any relevant findings or suggestions, please advise. S'Jenes out.

Lystra: =/\= That’s great! We’ve been able to establish fairly reliable contact through PADDs and now with a Neural Interface Unit. We’ve located the Icarus’ Chief Medical Officer. We’ll try to get more information as soon as we can. Lystra out. =/\=

Shimisi: Seems they're making progress too. Doctor, see if you can talk with the sickbay teams, if they're in contact like we are, maybe we can share information. You can tell our friends we're checking with their friends in sickbay.

Aurdax: Response

Shimisi: Seems I'm keeping the power stable at thirty five. How's the hyperwarp? It has deactivated?

Perax: Response

Shimisi: We have to make the power stable for our friends on the bridge, sickbay and general life support. We'll deactivate the energy to the cargo bay and divert that to the other areas.

Aurdax/Perax: Response

Shimisi: =/\= Shimisi to S'Jenes =/\=

S’jenes: ::Tapped his combadge:: =/\= S’jenes here =/\=

Shimisi: =/\= We're talking with other survivors through a padd and we're trying to use a monitor to improve contact. =/\=

S'Jenes: If they are observing the same pattern elsewhere aboard the ship, that would support the hypothesis of a shipwide phenomenon.

Ba'el: ::Considers the new information:: How quickly could we put this into practical use?

T'Seva: Fairly quickly.

Shimisi: =/\= It seems so, from what I've heard, we have interactions on the bridge, sickbay, here... so it seems ship wide. =/\=

S'Jenes: If enough data points are collected, prediction becomes possible. Once prediction becomes possible, synchronization becomes possible.

Ba'el met his eyes when S'Jenes glanced up to her.

S'Jenes: And synchronization may be the first step toward reintegration.

Ba'el: Well, sounds like we have a plan. What's out next step?

T'Seva: Collect the data points, ideally with the help of others.

Shimisi: =/\= We have a problem with the energy. If we go over 40%, the hyperwarp tries to activate. We're working to deactivate it, but we need some time.=/\=

S'jenes/T'Seva/Ba'el: Respones

Shimisi: =/\= Tell us what you need, we'll see if we can provide it. =/=

Aurdax/Perax: Response
