(( USS Icarus - Deck 3))
She reached down to her boots and pressed a button before walking
over to the Security Terminal. Her own code was of no use here,
according to the ship's computer she didn't even exist yet. Well
not in Starfleet under this name anyway. But Admiral Hayes had
give her the override code.
McCray/Montanari: Response
Yirah: If Frank is here, I wonder where the captain is?
Rajel: They might be here too and not able to communicate, or
anywhere else on the ship trying to find out what happened. In the
best case there is. ::She offered Indrid a brief nod and smile as
the console unlocked.:: There you go all yours.
Indrid smiled at her and she returned it before turning to head
back to her console. She briefly sent a message to Mingxing that
the power on the bridge worked well, so he knew he could continue
with the rest of the ship.
McCray: Apparently, the Captain hasn’t been seen since right
before the last jump. That’s the one they said went haywire.
Rajel: Well worst case.. we don't know yet where they have been
and what they experienced. But coming back with an immediate power
failure could be that they were attacked. That's why we have to
check the logs.
Yirah: I don't see any logs that show that they were attacked.
Although it could be that the data was corrupted.
Rajel: Do you think those tribbles got anything to do with it?
::She asked with a little grin. Wouldn't be the first time
Tribbled had caused chaos on a ship.:: Or is that just an
unrelated incident?
Yirah: From the looks of this security log, they seem to have
caught the infestation in its early stages.
That still could mean they were a problem that lead to ..whatever
this was.
Rajel: Anything from Frank about what he remembers?
McCray: He said before the last jump, everything was nominal, but
it’s a blur after that.
Jalana furrowed her brows. So if everything was normal until then
what exactly happened?
Yirah: Maybe if we--
He stopped speaking and then Jalana heard it, a sound coming from
the other door she hadn't checked out yet. A heat trail was
visible and then the door started melting.
Yirah: Spots! What is going on!?
Rajel: What in the caves... This can't be one of ours. Blaine...
::She hoped he had his phaser ready just in case, but also hoped
it wasn't needed::
As she door was melted away someone entered. Large and dark and
vaguely a person. Jalana's eyes widened slightly. Sheliak? What
was a Sheliak doing here? She had never met one in person but she
had read enough reports to know when she saw one... two. There was
another but then her eyes fell on the third and her stomach
plummeted into the lowest point of her body. While there was some
kind of protection around them, clearly like an EVA suit to
provide them with the atmosphere they needed, the symbol on it
-much like the starfleet symbol on theirs- identified them clearly
as Tholian. That and their unique physique. Well sh-
Snlpkg: Organic infestations, you have been found in violation of
the Treaty of Algeron article III, Section 5, subsection 13,
paragraph 4. Your metaweapon will be confiscated as evidence.
Those last words pulled her out of her shock. Jalana opened her
mouth and closed it again. Metaweapon what? She knew the Treaty,
of course, and she was quite aware that it had been expanded to
not only include cloaking devices but also metaweapons, but... Is
the metaweapon with us in the room?
She was too baffled to speak up in that moment. And then the
Tholian spoke up.
McCray: Response
Lesatine: There are four of them.
Four. That one could see Frank. How? Not like she could just ask
them, without a doubt they had no reason to share this information
with her.
Snlpkg: Organic pests, hiding is useless we will find you. You
will all be arrested.
The Trill furrowed her brows and took a step forward, about to
bring her between the intruders and her team members when Indrid
suddenly stepepd forward and spoke up.
Yirah: A more accurate designation for myself is Indrid Yirah.
What should I address you as, Sheliak closest to me?
Jalana's head turned to her Assistant Chief of Science. What was
he doing? And when did he have become to gutsy? Was it Frontier
day? Or just time?
McCray/Snlpkg: response
Yirah: Procurator, we can not be arrested on suspicion alone. What
investigation has led you to hypothesize that this ship carries a
metaweapon?
Jalana really believed that she should be the one to talk with
them, but fussing over this in front of the introders might cause
problems. Indrid was the Scientist in the team, so if anyone could
understand how this ship was suddenly a weapon, maybe it was him.
She really hoped this wouldn't come back bite her in the ass. She
exchanged a brief look with Blaine. For now shooting would be a
bad idea, but they needed to be careful.
McCray/Snlpkg: response
Yirah: This ship was launched in the Federation year of 2267. The
Treaty of Algeron was signed in the Federation year of 2311. That
makes this ship older than the Treaty of Alergon by 44 standard
Federation years. The Federation has not had access nor contact
with this ship in 130 years. Therefore, this ship has not been
able to be assessed by the Federation for any violations of the
Treaty of Algeron until this day.
Jalana smiled slightly hearing Indrid. This more confident
attitude suited him well.
McCray/Snlpkg: response
Yirah: Procurator, the Federation remains committed to the Treaty
of Algeron.
Jalana turned to the intruders and nodded.
Rajel: He is correct. The treaty was not violated and we are as
committed as ever.
McCray/Snlpkg/Yirah: response
If Indrid's idea had been to protect her, she didn't know about
that but she also didn't like to hide behind him. After all she
was responsible for the people on this ship. Or he just really had
been passionate about correcting the misunderstanding. Either way
no hiding.
Rajel: I am Commodore Jalana Rajel. Commanding Officer of the USS
Con- no wait we are currently using the Aleek-Om.
McCray/Snlpkg/Yirah: response
Right. That would possibly look suspicious. She glanced to
Blaine's PADD noting that a new message had arrived but she
couldn't see what it read from here. Had the Sheliak be here
before? Did Frank know anything about that?
Rajel: Our usual ship is undergoing repairs. Anyway. Indrid here
was correct, the ship is older than that.
McCray/Snlpkg/Yirah: response
Rajel: Right the fourth. I can assure you that we did not cause
his invisibility. It is not cloaking technology and we are
currently working on finding out what caused it.
Jalana wished for once that she had paid better attention when her
father had tried to teach her about diplomacy. She could talk back
to a Tellarite and speak with pompous colony leaders but she had
absolutely no idea how to talk with Sheliak. She hadn't taken
diplomacy courses that were part of counseling during the Academy
because she went into pure medical not counseling. And then that
started biting her in the rear because for some reason she had to
get herself into becoming a Commanding officer.
McCray/Snlpkg/Yirah: response
Rajel: I do hope that cleared up any misunderstanding. Will be
acceptable that we continue trying to find out the cause of all
this?
She hoped that being out of Federation space did not cause another
issue. This clearly was a Federation ship though, so they still
should be allowed to retrieve it. Where was Ba'el when you needed
her. Hopefully not in another space jump.
McCray/Snlpkg/Yirah: response
