(( Shuttle Bay -> In transit to Medical ))

Elias glanced at Cade and shrugged. He was a Starfleet Marine, it was in his blood.

Kincaid: I trust ya, pardner. But they’re all surprisingly well heeled fer a simple medical escort.

He nodded towards the armed security officers. Part of him knew it was normal for on duty security to have sidearms, right?

Rajel: If it's anything like in the TPS that's protocol.

Foster: I assume they’re going to try to fix us.

Kincaid: Well that’s good, cause I reckon we ain’t gonna be much use until they do.

Foster: Hey I’m still a medical genius.  I can help.

Rajel: Yep! I'm a doctor too! ::For once it was not something she said to impress Cade. She did remember being one.:: I also I got plenty lifetimes and can help too with ... stuff.

Foster: You are, and you can!

Elias glanced at Cade with a raised brow.

Kincaid: Careful pardner, don’t wanna get too big fer yer britches. We ain’t exactly at our best. And we need ta be if we wanna be able to push back against tha Dominion.

He said it so casually and then shook his head violently. Battle plans and tactical engagements were so clear in his mind but when he tried thinking about the name of the girl the Vulcan mentioned, it was like an uphill battle with wheels glued to his feet.

Rajel: What is it with you and the Dominion? Did they pee into your flakes?

Foster:  I lived through the Dominion war, too, and you don’t hear me whining about it. ::he sassed before he even had the opportunity to curb his tongue. That was one thing elder Cade had learned the hard way, but younger Cade had struggled with.:: As we said before, the Dominion isn’t here. It’s your memory that’s off.

Kincaid: Right..right. I hope you ain’t just blowin’ wind up our keisters pardner. I can tell ya how ta best take down a Jem’Hadar but fer tha life of me I can’t remember mah daughter’s name. ::For the first time since they took their joyride he looked panicked:: What kind of father can’t remember their own kids name?

Rajel: It's Ty... something.

Foster: Tymora. Tyrenna. Tylena?

Elias reached up and tugged his stetson on tighter as if it could trap the memories in place and keep any more from being lost to the aether.

Kincaid: Tylana…Tylana…Tylana. ::he murmured:: And mah wife’s name…mah wife? Am I even married?

One look down at his hand and the ring sitting in a well worn place on his finger showed he was. Or maybe he had been but he was widowed. The fact he couldn’t remember just made him want to shoot something. Or take a long draw from a tall bottle.

Rajel: Yes! Orion. You told me about her. But.. I don't remember her name.

Foster: I was gonna ask if you were married.  See, I learned something!

Kincaid: I could use a strong drink right about now.

Foster: I could mix you a drink.

Rajel: I ... don't think I like drinks. Something like a distant memory.. I don't know maybe I'm wrong.

Foster: You like drinks. You just don’t like alcohol in your drinks. Perhaps we’ll need to steal away to the Saloon and have Kincaid and I mix some drinks to see what you like.

Rajel: Maybe we can.

Medic: Commodore.

The voice of the medical officer caught them all off guard for a moment.

Foster: That’s you sweetheart!

There was a Capellan in Medical teal standing outside one of the isolation wards.

Rajel: Oh right, that's me. Thank you.

Hand in hand they walked into the isolation ward. Cade took a moment to look around and found they were surrounded by everyone else who had been in the saloon – everyone else who was now much younger.

Medic: We are getting everyone who was de-aged together into the same location. Once we know how to turn you back it'll be easier to find everyone. Mark is working on a way to turn the tide in the issue of memory loss.

Foster: You know, I think either people are lying to me, or my family is really weird.

Elias looked at his friend and nodded.

Kincaid: Weird, fer sure.

Rajel: So... we'll wait for now?

Medic: Yes. For now you'll wait. Please get comfortable. ::He gestured to the biobeds::

Rajel: Back to sitting in medical. Can we play a game? Do you know one? It's a bit boring to just wait.

Kincaid: Could probably come up with a few I reckon.

Foster: I’d rather get to work fixing this.  I feel like I should be fixing this.

Rajel: How do you think they are trying to fix this memory loss thing? Any idea, genius doctor? ::She looked at Cade as if he would naturally know everything.::

Foster: well, gimmie a moment. ::he leaned over to a workstation and grabbed a tricorder.:: From what everyone is saying there’s not discernable physical damage. It’s just that the connections between the parts of the brains are deteriorating because the brain has de-aged.

Kincaid: So, what does that mean exactly, pardner?

Jalana: ?

Foster: Memories can be stored in parts of your brain – but storage is meaningless unless you can access those memories, That’s where the connective pathways come in.

Kincaid: I don’t follow.

Jalana: ?

Elias was glad that Cade’s access to his medical knowledge storage hadn’t been cut off yet.

Foster: What I’m saying is – it’s unlikely that this will erase memories from our brains. Those memories are still there, but the ability to get them out of storage, that’s what’s crumbling.

Kincaid: So, basically yer sayin’ tha cables that connect the computers in our noggin’s are bein’ cut and we need ta patch them up?

Jalana: ?

Foster: Well, there’s a whole host of therapies, from therapeutic energy stimulation to telepathic memory recovery. But none of them will do much good if we can’t fix the aging issue.

Elias pondered that for a moment and made a quick silent thought to his ancestors, hoping they’d help guide the medical teams.

Kincaid: Cause this could just happen all over again? Or ‘cause Starfleet ships ain’t crewed by youngin’s?

For him and Cade it may not be much of an issue since they’re essentially the same age they would’ve been when they were earlier in their careers, but for folks like Jalana who were kids, he didn’t expect Starfleet would let them keep their positions on the Conny if they stayed stuck like that. Even Jalana.

Jalana/Foster: ?

Kincaid: True, but I reckon Starfleet ain’t in tha habit of lettin’ kids, or those that look like kids run their starships. If we can’t fix tha de-agin’ thing Command might recall ya and everyone else ta a research station until they can sort this all out.

Elias knew that would destroy Jalana, even though the memories were being cut off if that happened and things were reversed she’d be devastated to have lost the Conny.

Jalana/Foster: ?

Kincaid: Well, then it’s a good thing we got so many folks workin’ on fixin’ us. I’m sure we’ll be alright.

Jalana/Foster: ?
