Holding her skirts and raising them slightly, Jalana took the
stairs up to the stage and headed to the center where the
microphone, decorated with fairy lights, was already waiting for
her. She smiled to the holographic band when she passed it and as
she took her place the music faded out. Standing there in her
bright lit up dress and the mask covering half her face she smiled
looking all over the attendees of the party. Not only her senior
officers, but also some juniors and she could even see some of the
Cardassian delegation. What a wonderful get together.
Rajel: Good evening, ladies, gentlemen, anyone in between or none
at all. Thank you all for joining our Masquerade ball. And a big
thank you to Georgio who organized the event for us today.
She clapped with a smile towards the hologram standing with Mark
and some other crew members.
Rajel: I also would like to thank our Cardassian guests for being
her today. While the way we have met may have been chaotic and
most definitely not how I would have liked our cooperation to go,
I am glad that we have managed to find our way back to ourselves,
by cooperating with the Archaeological Initiative and pooling all
our knowledge and experience together.
And she was proud of that. The relationship with the Union had not
always been easy, tense even and knowing her crew had pulled
together and worked with them, meant just as much as knowing that
the Archaeological team had worked on Vryshaan together for
several years. It was a feat.
Anyone: Response
Rajel: Before we come to the main part, I would also like to
welcome our newest senior officers and hope that you will welcome
thema as warmly as you always have. We have Maramox in Medical,
Jori Mec in Engineering, Savel in Security, and S'Jenes in
Science. Welcome to all of you.
Anyone: Response
Rajel: Now for those of you that are new let me tell you that the
next part is one of my favorite parts of being a Commanding
Officer. ::She smiled brightly, knowing that those who had been
around for longer knew that very well.:: I get to recognize your
hard work not only in person and with words as I usually do. But
it allows me to brag a bit about you all to Starfleet HQ and get
official recognition as well, as you all deserve.
She paused briefly before beginning her list, a list that she
enjoyed so very much. She wondered if she'd enjoy her job this
much if this was not part of it. Well she would still like it, but
maybe a little less.
Rajel: Much to our surprise we have discovered that the artifact
who caused our little de-aging problem was not an artifact at all.
Instead we found out through various tests and finally telepathic
communication that it is a silicone based lifeform native to
Vryshaan. This remarkable discovery leads to a few ribbons for our
crew. First of all I have the honor to reward everyone who was
part of this mission the Explorer's ribbon for the discovery of a
new species. As well as a First Contact ribbon for, you guessed
it, First contact.
The Trill clapped her trademark sealclap. She might as well have
been here without a mark there had not been a moment of doubt
about who she was for anyone really.
Anyone: Response
Rajel: This discovery was made a team of officers in cooperation
with Dr Sidney Applegate. That team consisted of Leran Perax,
K'Vash and Akeelah D'Sena, as well as Indrid Yirah until the
memory issues of the de-aging process pulled him away from the
project. It is my honor to reward the team with the Scientific
Discovery Ribbon for the Archaeological discovery of the still
existing species on Vryshaan.
Anyone: Response
Rajel: In addition to that Akeelah D'Sena is awarded with the
Diplomacy Ribbon for being the link between us and the Vryshaan
species throughout the whole endeavour thanks to her telepathic
ability. She is currently on the way to Vryshaan, with Doctor
Applegate, to bring the lifeform back home where it belongs.
This had been such an adventure, seeing her younger self,
re-experiencing some of that lightness, the bounciness that was
even more than now. Parts of her youth she had not been able to
experience the first time around. And to think it was all because
of a scared lifeform. Incredible.
Anyone: Response
Rajel: Several of you have stood out in those days. Leran has
guided the team that tried to find out more about the artifact and
then the lifeform. Minxing has been keeping everyone in the loop
by overseeing efforts and acting as the bridge between the team on
the bridge, the teams and the First Officer. Mark Foster has taken
the lead in finding solutions and guiding the medical team in the
efforts to work against the memory loss of those who had been
affected by the memory loss. For that I'm happy to award Leran,
Minxing and Mark the Leadership Excellence Ribbon.
She was proud of her people, she always was - well unless they
landed in the brig or did something really stupid that put
everyone at danger, which had happened several times. But
generally she was proud of them. Having see how some leaders had
emerged under those circumstances had just added to that.
Anyone: Response
Rajel: All of us know that time in our line of living can pass way
faster than we anticipate. It has already been more than a year
that Diz'mim has been our First officer, so I am awarding him the
First Officer Ribbon for his work so far. And I hope we will see
more of him for a long time.
Diz'mim, not Commander. Ever since they had cleared the air Jalana
had an easier time to include him in the illustrious circle of her
crew that existed in her mind on first name basis. It felt more
natural to her anyway.
Anyone: Response
Rajel: That was it for ribbons. However I am not done. ::She
smiled.:: Contrary to my usual times, I am not going to tell you
to show yourself, Masquerade balls are about the mystery after
all, at least I heard that. ::She paused briefly before speaking
again.:: Since she came on board she has been working hard on
making sure that you all are feeling better and worked with you
through difficulties or gave advice. She stayed calm in stressful
situations and jumped in without having to be prompted to keep
situations under control. It's my upmost pleasure to promote
Counselor Ba'el to the rank of a full Lieutenant. ::smiling
widely.:: Congratulations.
Her eyes moved to Ba'el having seen her at the party before it was
easy to recognize her. She received a big smile and her own
personal seal clap filled with pride.
Anyone: Response
Rajel: During the last events he has showed that his great skills
in out of the box thinking and improvisation are one of his strong
suits. I also saw some plans of developing some new equipment for
our OPS department that looks promising and I can't wait to see it
in action. For the great work we have seen so far, it's my
pleasure to promote Leran Perax to Lieutenant Junior Grade.
Congratulations!
Jalana had to admit she did not know who out there was Leran but
that did not mean she clapped or smiled any less proud for him.
Before we went on to her last bit she looked across the room to
meet Cade's gaze and nod to him as a sign that she was almost
done.
Anyone: Response
Rajel: I have one more announcement. After Laria left us to take
care of personal things, Starfleet has assigned us a new Second
Officer. We asked the candidate if he would agree to join our
triumvirate and he agreed. So allow me to announce the new Second
Officer, Assistant Chief Science Officer Indrid Yirah.
Congratulations!
She was aware that Indrid was nervous about the assignment, but
she had no doubt that he could grow into the position. Dizzy and
her would help him as well. He wasn't alone.
Anyone: Response
Rajel: ::smiling:: While that was it from my side.... Cade was
going to say a few words too. Come up here and join me.
She waved her hand ever so slightly and then stepped aside to let
him take the spot at the microphone, her smile possibly even more
dazzling with him next to her.
