Commodore Jalana Rajel - Preparations while you wait

As she walked through the tunnels surrounded by water, Jalana let
her eyes drift over the fishes, mammals, the plan life, corals
bubbles as they rose up... The caustic effect dancing over the
floor when the lights from above broke through the water gave
everything a dreamy atmosphere. A smile washed over her face
remembering days about a hundred years ago when Waelyn worked with
the marine biologists on Trill. Despite knowing it had been that
long ago, it still felt like yesterday sometimes.
As Sarek came inview, floating in the currents of his tank, Jalana
smiled and stepped to the transparent aluminum wall to press the
console, opening the two way comm system.
Rajel: You look peaceful.
Sarek's maw opened to a big smile and bopped his head vigorously
as he swam towards her.
Sarek: Sarek is now! Sarek sorry for pulling podmother away from
fun things.
Rajel: Don't worry about it, I always have time for my crew. So
what can I do for you, Sarek?
The click, whistles and pops filled the space, a sign of joy from
Sarek as Jalana had learned, excitement especially paired with
ethe loop and the boop against the transparent aluminum.
Sarek: Boop! Sarek wanted to ask podmother about that! Meaning,
Sarek would like to be like other dolphins and get shiny pips!
Sarek was told that Sarek might be able to be more part of the
crew? With shinies and a uniform?
Jalana leaned forward to boop her nose against the tank wall with
a grin before straightening to listen and cock her head. A smile
washed over her face at the request
Rajel: You already are part of the crew. But from what I hear, you
would like to become part of the Officers?
Sarek: ::his head bobbed quickly:: Yes! Sarek help crew already,
but Sarek would like to do more if possible. Though, Sarek not as
helpful as bipedals since Sarek can’t go anywhere else on the ship
without being pushed in little tank, but Sarek want to help more!
Rajel: Oh you are very helpful within your field of work. ::She
smiled and then nodded.:: We can arrange that. Several Cetaceans
have gone to Starfleet before so we know it's not a limitation.
Sarek: Would Sarek have to leave the Cawnee? Sarek doesn’t want to
leave home or podmother!!
Jalana considered. While this could complicate things, it was not
impossible. She would have to do some changes, but already had an
idea, she'd want to talk with Leran about. Because, naturally
Sarek would have to have access to lectures and simulations and
other hands on training. She shook her head.
Rajel: You know Oz, Siance and Shedet right? They have been part
of the On Board Cadet Trainings program, the Conny is facilitator
of. So you would be able to do your training on the ship.
Sarek: Response
Rajel: We will have to make some adjustments but you can start
preparing already. I'll send you the forms you'll need to apply.
Sarek: Response
Rajel: The next step will be a preliminary test and the Starfleet
Academy entrance exam. I'll send you material on what to expect in
those, which areas are part of it so you can prepare yourself in
your free time.
Sarek: Response
Rajel: The material will let you know how high you have to score
to pass the exam. I will also talk with The Academy head if your
work so far can be used towards the credits in your field to
shorten your Academy training. They do allow that at times.
