Leran needed food. He had forgotten temporarily about the Mystery book he was reading because now he had a puzzle of his own to solve. How to create a holodeck under water. He had a few people he needed to talk to to bounce ideas off.

One person, or perhaps a pair of people, were Georgio, whom the commodore specifically mentioned, and perhaps Doctor Mark Foster. Both of these people would know what it was like to live in a holographic state around the ship and outside of it.

The second or third person, depending on how many of the holograms he talked to, was the ship’s veterinarian. He was surprised, though he probably shouldn’t have been, that the Constitution had a veterinarian; it had simply never occurred to him. But Doctor Sh'Prelleon would be the the person to ask about how a dolphin’s physiology and psychology would be influenced by holographic environments.

Lastly, he would need to talk with Sarek himself. What did the dolphin want from the project, if he had thought through the project? Sarek needed to be comfortable and happy with the arrangements too.

Leran’s stomach growled, but first food. He wouldn’t think well or conduct the interviews well on an empty stomach. He was walking through when he saw the large Romulan bird over an entrance to a shop that Leran didn’t recall from when he mapped out the ship on his arrival.

He stepped in and breathed the sweet smells that wafted through the air. He stepped to the counter when a Romulan stepped out of the back with a tray of some fruit wrapped in a glazed flaky bread.

T’vnek: Hello! Welcome! What can I get for you?

Perax: I uh, what are those? ::he pointed to a a number of puffy looking bread that were coated in what looked like a sheet of hardened sugar.::

T’vnek: Those are synonym rolls. A funny name, but I’m sure the humans had a reason for it.

Perax: I think I’ll take a couple of them.

As the Romulan set his tray down and picked up the tongs, the comm system activated.

Ch'Nilmani: =/\= Ch'Nilmani to Crew. This is a yellow alert recall. All selected crew on this transmission are activated and need to arrive at Docking Port 22-B Section 3. Once you have boarded, find your departments, prepare it and report your status. More details will be provided once everyone is on board. We'll be undocking ASAP. =/\=

Leran sighed. At least he was already aboard the ship. Then it struck him that the docking pot was not the same as the one at which the Constitution was currently moored.

T’vnek: ::he handed over the synonym rolls in a small bag.

Perax: Thanks!

He paid for his synonym rolls and rushed out the door with them to search for the docking port.

Looking around the main engineering room, Leran was surprised to find it wasn’t that much smaller than the one on the Constitution. Well, sort of. Engineering as a whole was a lot smaller, but the central room called Main Engineering had a more open floor plan leading to the impression of more space. Once you got used to the fact that there was no immediately accessible second floor, it seemed spacious enough to suit the Trill.

Perax: Containment fields, online. Antimatter injectors, online. Main power is approaching nominal levels. Warp core is fully engaged. I think we’re ready.

PNPC: response if any

Perax: There is a ton packed tightly in this small ship. That’s going to make engineering both simpler and more difficult.

Ch'Nilmani: =/= Ch'Nilmani to Senior Staff. If you haven't, sound off. We're preparing to get underway. =/=

Perax wasn’t sure if he was supposed to respond.

oO I’m not senior staff. “Junior” is even in my rank. I had better let someone with more seniority respond. Shimisi can add me if he thinks my name needs to be mentioned. Oo
