(( Bridge - Constitution ))
The Constitution had received a hail however the communication was
so garbled that the computer couldn't make out anything that was
said.
Rajel: Looks like the computer doesn't know the signature. So it's
not the planet. But they are clearly hailing us. I assume it may
be the vessel Dizzy mentioned... ::However whatever they were
saying couldn't be deciphered by the computer. Was it a language
they didn't know yet? Were the interferences a problem with the
universal translator?:: Open a channel and hope that they can hear
us.
T'Seva: Channel open.
Rajel: =/\= This is Commodore Jalana Rajel of the USS
Constitution. We are on a peaceful mission of exploration, we mean
no harm. =/\=
T'Seva: There's no response.
No reply. That could mean anything. They already were on yellow
alert so she couldn't call for that. She had a weird feeling.
Rajel: Raise shields and tell Ba'el and Dizzy to get back inside.
I'll let shuttlebay know to lower the barrier for faster entry.
T'Seva: Shields...
Hearing that sound she stepped to the back of the bridge bringing
up the Engineering console. She was no engineer but the message
was clear. The shield had raised up, however they had failed less
than a minuet later because of the interferences. She pressed her
comm badge.
Rajel: =/\= Rajel to Mingxing, please tell me you made progress,
we got visitors and our shields keep failing as soon as we bring
them up. =/\=
Shimisi: =/\= We've made some. So'Mior and SydT tell me that the
shields might add energy to the Chrodrite particles, making them
more energetic and adhering to our hull. If you have to use them,
try a lower energy level and as tight to the ship as possible.
=/\=
Chrodite particles. Chrodite she had heard that earlier, just had
not thought about it becoming such a big problem.
Rajel: =/\= Lower energy level. Got it. We don't know yet if we
need them, but it would be good having our tactical systems ready
just in case. =/\=
Shimisi: =/\= I'll move to engineering to provide you what I can
in terms of shields and tactical systems. If science get anything
to get rid of the particles, I'll see to be implemented
inmediately. =/\=
Rajel: =/\= Thank you, good work. Bridge out. =/\=
Jalana called up the shield screen and had to admit that she did
not have too much tactical and engingeering knowledge, whoever she
did find out how to change the energy levels of the shields and
their distance from the hull, just in case they needed them. She
did not know if that would work, but they could try.
T'Seva: I have a suggestion that may not sound like it comes from
me.
Standing up straight she turned to T'Seva.
Rajel: Let's hear it.
T'Seva: Keep our shields down. Phasers will not work well in this
in any case; any attack would have to come from photon torpedoes.
But given everything, I...feel that making a hostile stance will
endanger *both* teams on the planet. Ours and theirs.
Furrowing her brows she nodded slightly.
Rajel: If any of the lifesigns down there are from their people,
then you are right. What do you suggest we do?
T'Seva: What I suggest instead is that we broadcast a repeating,
simple message. Just as our team did earlier, so that the
repetition makes it clear. Maybe even just the word "friend" over
again. This could be anything from another Federation ship we
didn't know was in the area... possibly even civilians... to
Romulans... to first contact. If our shields aren't going to do us
much good anyway... and in the mean time, we may be able to do old
fashioned point defense or even prepare for separation.
Rajel: ::nodding slightly.:: I don't think it's a Federation
ship.
T'Seva: Logic says that, but its the Bajoran part of me talking
right now.
Rajel: Alright, then let us prepare the repeated- ::Jalana was
interrupted mid-sentence as the ship was shaken. Not enough to
make her stumble but she still held onto the railing:: Report.
((OOC Sorry this is a bit more tags than usual, because so much is
happening lol I am also tagging in our newest member here, to join
us in the action!))
T'Seva: Response
Jalana frowned, as if they didn't have enough sensor issues now
someone shot their aft-sensor arrays?
Rajel: Can you bring them on screen? Computer red alert, silent on
bridge.
She bridge was immediately bathed in a subtle red light, the red
aleart began to show up all over the ship.
T'Seva/McCray: Response
Interferences made it difficult to see anything and she shook her
head never having seen something like that before in those bits
she could see. The ship shook again as they were hit once more.
Not having shields was going to make this difficult. The lift
doors behind them opened revealing what looked to be a Vulcan
joining the bridge. Jalana tried to keep her focus on what was
happening.
Rajel: Grab a station. ::She called out and looked to T'Seva::
Throw out some warning shots.. We can't lock onto them anyway but
maybe they realize we are trying not to hit them on purpose.
T'Seva/McCray: Response
Jalana saw something flit by on the screen and her eyes widen.
Rajel: Ba'el and Diz'mim are still out there. ::A Trill cuss
tumbled over their lisp that would make her mother blush brighter
than her hair.:: Get them inside!
T'Seva/McCray: Response
Right Mingxing had said something like that. Not more than a few
seconds. That wouldn't be enough to bring the worker bees in.
Rajel: Damn. I forgot about the tracto-
A much more violent shake went through the ship, throwing Jalana
off balance. It felt like several tremors one after the other. She
bumped into a back console that jumped too life. The screen
flashed in an angry red showing a bright red indicator flashing
where main shuttlebay had been. Jalana was with her back to it as
she looked to T'Seva and the other guy, she could not recall
having seen before.
Rajel: You two okay?
T'Seva/McCray: Response
Rajel: What do you mean gone? ::She turned around seeing the
indicator on the screen and another string of cusswords left her
lip that the computer knew better than to translate.:: You..
sorry.. i don't recall your name right now, grab the helm and try
evasion.
She knew it would be slow and sluggish they had to manually
navigate thanks to the nebula and its impact on the ship as a
whole, but at least they could hopefully avoid more damage to
their rear.
T'Seva/McCray: Response
The shaking of the ship stopped. After several attacks the other
ship had stopped. The view on the screen still did not tell her
who they actually were because the white noise was just too much
to make out a lot at once.
Rajel: I think we really need to send out that repeating message.
T'Seva, make it 'Don't attack, peaceful.' it's short enough maybe
it will take only a few runs to get through to them.. IF they can
understand us.
The danger with meeting someone new always was that there was a
chance they didn't speak the same language.
T'Seva/McCray: Response
Rajel: ::pressing her comm badge.:: =/\= Rajel to Diz'mim, now
would be a good time to make your way inside. =/\=
Ch'Nilmani: =/\= Response =/\=
Rajel: =/\= She got hit? Damn.. Can you tow her? Our tractor beams
are not reliably functional right now. =/\=
Ch'Nilmani: =/\= Response =/\=
Rajel: =/\= Do what you can we don't know when or if they start
shooting again. Rajel out. =/\=
Then the small woman turned to the other man one of her green eyes
looked a bit too green, an artificial eye that otherwise looked
just like the other. Her red hair framing her face as she blew her
bangs out of her spotted forehead. A smile washed over her lips.
Rajel: Hi, I'm Jalana and you are?
McCray: Response
T'Seva: Response
