(( Bridge - Constitution ))
It took a moment before there was another series of crackles and
fizzes, hisses and pops. But this time Jalana couldn't even make
up single sounds. She swore in Trill under her breath, of course.
T'Seva: Sorry...I'm...
T'Aven: ::inclining her head.:: The interference must be too
strong for one enhancer. I suggest to place out one or two from
our side.
T'Seva: We can do that. Do you have a plan?
T'Aven: We send an enhancer out and when the signal gets weaker
hold it in that position and send out another to serve as a
piggyback between the enhancer near us and the one on the surface.
It may be possible to lengthen the signal like that to enable
communications.
T'Seva: It seems worth a try.
Rajel: Hearing how distorted it is we still would not be able to
beam the teams in an emergency but we could at least communicate
basic messages.
T'Seva: I wasn't expecting we'd get transporters.
Rajel: Alright let's do that. T'Seva focus on the bees, what is
their status? T'Aven, get on the enchancers.
The Vulcan nodded and turned around once more to access the
inventory and the location of where they were stored, before she
got up from her seat and left the bridge.
T'Seva: I would assume at least one person down there knows morse
code, for example. It might pierce the interference better than
spoken communication. Once we have the enhancers out, if its still
bad, I'll send a message in that.
Jalana was confused for a moment since this was not the status she
had been asking for but could understand the focus on the pressing
issue and nodded.
Rajel: Worth a try if the other idea fails. Backups are never
wrong. ::She smiled::
T'Seva: I hope they're doing okay down there.
Rajel: ::A long exhale:: Me too. But whatever they are facing,
they'll excel. They are ...
T'Seva: Best crew in the fleet, Commodore.
Jalana looked to T'Seve adn returned her smile.
Rajel: That they are. ::She paused before speaking again.::
Speaking of best crew. How are our bees doing?
T'Seva: Response
Rajel: ::Nodding:: Good, we should -
Shimisi: =/\= Shimisi to the bridge =/\=
Jalana tapped on the comm badge instead of the button on the arm
rest because she would have to get up from the beanbag chair
first.
Rajel: =/\= Bridge her, what do you have for me, Mingxing. =/\=
Shimisi: =/\= We've determined that the Stellar Cartography lab
would be the best place to examine the sample you get. So'Mior is
compiling data and will examine the sample once we get it. =/\=
Rajel: =/\= Great news. Dizzy and Ba'el have gone out with our
worker bees to get you some samples for analyzing. =/\=
Shimisi: =/\= I'll help him to set up the lab, just give us a
warning when you have the sample.
Rajel: =/\= Alright. I'll contact them to make sure they beam the
samples right to Stellar Cartography when they are done. =/\=
Shimisi/So'Mior/T'Seva: Response
Rajel: =/\= Got it, good work you two. Bridge out. =/\=
T'Seva: Response
Rajel: Yes, with the preliminary scans and the samples we should
find out what is making our life so difficult here. Can you inform
Dizzy and Ba'el where to beam their samples?
T'Seva: Response
With a smile Jalana pulled herself out of the bean bag chair,
wanting to stretch her legs a little. While T'Seva checked with
the worker bees she moved to the center chair.
Rajel: Computer load chair configuration Rajel 5.
The center chair briefly disappeared and a new version appeared in
its place. That one had a more loose arm that she now could pull
towards herself to check the controls and screens without having
to sit down in it. Just when she activated the screen she was
shown an incoming signal. With a button click it showed as coming
from the planet again. But this was different. She looked up to
T'Seva seeing that she was still talking with their guys out there
she checked herself what it was about and played the audio.
It was difficult to make out, just random syllables and ..
numbers? She furrowed her brows and was about to rewind the
message when she realized it was a repeated message. And the
second time she heard different syllables. Now with her interest
piqued she sat down and pulled up another screen on the other arm
and wrote down what she heard.
T'Seva: Response
Rajel: We received an automated repeating message from one of the
teams. It's defragged like a Sehlat got its claws on it, but with
the repetition different parts of the same message are
decipherable.
T'Seva: Response
Rajel: So far I put together a part of a coordinate, waiting for
another repetition to put it together. They also have geothermal
heat, some lifeform with lightning rod ..something, bad weather
and something about a beach. To get all this I had to listen to it
four times.
T'Seva: Response
Rajel: Yes, hope with the signal enhancers we can get something
better back to them. Check with T'Aven. Once I have the full
coordinate we may have something to aim our signal at.
T'Seva: Response
