((Asst. Chief of Operations’ Office, Deck 4 - USS Constitution-B))

The Main Operations Office was on Deck 4, in amongst most of the shuttle facilities and cargo bays, and, interestingly, an armory, phaser array, and practice ranges. The whole deck was a busy hub of transport and mostly staffed with operations officers, which was perhaps why the main office was there. Though Operations had a seemingly limitless number of rooms and offices all over the ship, including a costuming department, so T’Ama rather suspected the positioning of the main office was due more to proximity to the bridge than this truly being a centralized place for Ops.

Her quarters on Deck 19 was quite a hike from the main office on Deck 4, requiring two separate turbolift rides since Deck 19 was in the stardrive section, and Deck 4 was in the saucer. She hadn’t minded it, since 19 was actually a very central deck out of the Constitution’s 42, and as an ensign she had been sent all over the ship to various ops assignments. But as assistant chief her job would be mostly in the main office. She was entitled to private quarters as senior staff and there were a number of them on Deck 4, but it seemed busy. Maybe she would assign herself some on Deck 8 where it was quieter instead. Closer to some of the amenities. She could do that since Ops was in charge of room assignments, and she was in charge of Ops (mostly, anyway). She’d go tour the available vacant quarters later.

For now she was going to set up her new office. Main Operations was nestled right up against the main shuttle bay - in fact the whole back wall of the office was a large window onto the main flight deck. There was even a door out onto it so you could walk through main operations and out onto the flight deck directly. Immediately through the entrance doors to the suite was a reception desk and small waiting area. To the left along the wall was an Operations Command Center with a number of consoles and large screens covering the wall showing detailed real time data about incoming and outgoing shuttles, cargo bay capacity, inventory, maintenance schedules, work orders, and innumerable other details about the ship. A door to the break room was tucked away in the corner. On the right hand side, along the exterior wall of the saucer, were the Assistant Chief’s office, the Chief’s office, and the Operations conference room.

She nodded at the crewman working reception and peeled off to the first office on the right. She tapped the code into the door panel to unlock it and the door slid open. She stepped in and the door closed after her, leaving her alone in her office. It had a distinct air of disuse to it. It wasn’t exactly dusty so much as it didn’t really feel alive or lived in. It had a basic, standard issue desk and chair and that was pretty much it. The right hand wall had built-in shelves that were bare. The back wall had a window onto space, though it was towards the back of the saucer and didn’t have a particularly great view unless you liked the port side nacelle.

She slowly walked around the desk and sat gingerly in the chair, already assembling a list of things to replicate for the office when the chime for reception went off.

Reception: =/\= Lieutenant T’Ama, there is a new ensign here to check in. Ensign Felbri. =/\=

That was fast. She hadn’t been in here five minutes before someone wanted to see her.

T’Ama: Send them in.

She stood, realizing she didn’t have any extra chairs for guests yet, only to watch as the door opened and Ensign Felbri rolled in on his own wheelchair. Years of discipline in schooling her expressions meant the eyepatched Vulcan didn’t actually appear to react to the sight of this.

T’Ama: ::dryly:: Well I was going to apologize for the lack of chairs, but I see you brought your own. Excellent.

She sat back down behind her desk.

Felbri: response

T’Ama: Oh right… the holographic chairs. ::wrinkling her nose:: I tend to prefer real ones. Less likely to dump you on your ass when the power cuts out.

Felbri: response

She leaned forward and took the PADD he offered, glancing at it before leaning back in her chair and fixing her one-eyed gaze on him.

T’Ama: Tell me about yourself, Ensign.

Felbri: response
