(( OOC: I know it's usually clear but anything Sherana says and
thinks is 100000% character, she is... uh... special lol ))
((Transporter Room One - Deck 6, USS Constitution-B))
Sherana had made sure that everything in the Arboretum was in
order and packed her own tools around her hip on a belt and into a
bad she carried hanging from the side, that too no the outside had
various gardening tools attached. She did not have a phaser, but
instead she had brought her trusted Mek'leth and her d'k tahg.
Since she didn't know what they would be run into she took two
weapons instead of just one. Either way a warrior would never
leave the house without. And because she was not only a botanist
but also security officer, she had two tricorders, one for each
department. You never knew.
She had changed from her working pants and sweater into a klingon
light leather armor. It was not the full war get up, but provided
enough protection in case of hostilities while leaving enough
mobility for her work. She saw no reason o be prepared just
because they went down in their civilian capacity.
(( OOC: This kind of armor

When she stepped inside the Scientist was already there and she
offered him a brief nod in greeting. She remained quiet though,
focused on her task and what she would have to do once beaming in,
until they were all there and Indrid spoke.
Yirah: Rather than starting in the middle of the village, I think
we might be able to get a better general idea if we start from the
edge of town and work our way to the center. What do you all
think?
Savok: A logical course of action. ::To the transporter chief::
Are there any clear beam-in sites near the edge of the settled
area?
Sherana: It will complicate the divide and conquer as some of us
will have to move to the other side of the colony first to from
from four directions. ::Since Yirah had not contradicted earlier
she assumed that was the plan.:: But I don't mind a brisk marsh to
get there.
Evria: Response
The Tellarite behind the console tapped around his console. It was
almost a disappointment that he did not begin hurling insults at
them.
Transporter Chief: I just did a scan for locations and found a
clearing in the woods off one of the furthest farms. Is that good
with you all or too far away.
Yirah: Sounds good to me.
Savok: No objections.
Sherana did not answer she had said her thing.
Evria: Response
Yirah: Now, I know that you are civilians and I can't technically
order you to do anything. But please, for your own safety. Do not
eat or drink. ANYTHING that was sourced on the planet.
Sherana raised her brow.
Yirah: Along with science equipment. I have plenty of snacks in
case you get hungry. And plenty of extra water bottles.
Savok: That seems a sensible precaution. Although one three
experienced scientists are well aware of. I think such an emphatic
reminder was superfluous.
Sherana: I do not plan on staying in the group the whole time. But
I also do not plan on having a meal while I have work to do.
Evria: Response
Yirah: Like I said. I can't order you to, but I will warn you. The
last time that I was on a colony world with plants dying due to
mysterious sources. I DIED.
Sherana raised her other brow.
Sherana: You might need survival training, Ensign. You may join me
in the holodeck anytime.
Evria: Response
Sherana spoke while stepping onto the transporter platform and
took position, flexing her fingers and balling them to a fist with
a creak of the leather. Only a moment later the room disappeared
around them.
((Baker’s Clearing - Paoike Colony, Drever IV))
As the blue sparkling lights faded a forest clearing came into
view. Tall grass, a grotto, a pool of water. It was peaceful and
quiet.
Savok: This looks, to employ a Human turn of phrase, picturesque.
Sherana: We may have to pick up slack in the Arboretum.
For a moment she forgot that it was not 'I' but 'we. She was too
drawn into the scenery to remember her animosity.
Yirah/Evria: Response
Savok took out a tricorder and began to scan the area while
Sherana noticed some sickly looking patches here and there. She
took a step towards it when she saw in the corner of her eye that
he raised his hand and she stopped immediately.
Savok: Wait a-
What was wrong?
Vulcan hearing was something that Klingons envied at times. It
would be the perfect addition to their instincts, watchful eye and
reflexes. But a real warrior trusted the abilities of their
comrades in this case that comrade was this annoying Vulcan. The
moment she saw his first movements she could anticipate him going
down and she dropped to the floor herself it was only a moment
before he falled out.
Savok: Down!
She stayed down but a moment later she saw it, something flitting
through the air, a glimpise of something pointy reflecting in the
hint of light coming through the tree cover. She frowned. A dart?
Her dark eyes followed its trajectory, somewhere by those trees.
She'd have to check it out once they were back up. She waited a
moment but nothing else happened.
Sherana: That was it.
With that she peeled herself off the ground.
Yirah/Evria: Response
Savok: I heard a slight mechanical hiss and the sound of a
projectile. Around fifteen meters ahead of us and to the right. It
seems like some kind of tranquilizer dart.
Sherana: Mechanical hiss would indicate that it was not a person
shooting it towards us.
Yirah/Evria: Response
Savok: I would deduce, given that we are at the edge of the
settlement, it is some kind of mechanism designed to prevent wild
animals from entering populated areas. Possibly non-lethal. But I
would suggest not getting hit regardless.
Sherana nodded slightly, her dark gaze on Savok.
Sherana: Agreed. While I would think differently if this was a
Klingon Colony, but assuming they have children and non warriors
in this colony having a lethal perimeter would be harming the
colony more than it would be useful.
Yirah/Evria: Response
Savok: This is outside of my area of study. Sherana is our
resident expert on weapons and other sharp implements.
Sherana: We need to thread careful. I assume that the triggers are
varied and we don't know what they are. ::She pulled the Security
Tricorder from her belt.:: Until we free the Forest, I will scan
the area for possible security risks.
Savok/Yirah/Evria: Response
She opened the display and turned in the firection that Savok had
indicated the sound had come from. The scanner took something in
that was not a plant but natural material. She furrowed her brows.
Sherana: I think I have it. ::Then turning around she scanned the
area and nodded:: There are more more in both directions, about
twenty meter apart, which indicates that each of them has a ten
meter diameter reach. They follow the outline of the forest around
the colony as far as I can see.
Savok/Yirah/Evria: Response
Sherana: I should assume that there are other mechanisms closer to
the colony. We'll have to keep an eye out for the triggers.
Savok/Yirah/Evria: Response
She looked back down to the scanner tapping some buttons and then
closed it with a frown. She crouched down, pulling the Mek'leth
from its sheath. With the elongated blade she reached out to some
leaves then let her eyes wander along the ground and finally
grunted.
Sherana: They have a Klingon in the colony. Whoever it is used
vonwI' 'uD'a'. It is a special kind of laser trigger that can be
connected to any mechanism. The laser is like a primitive trip
wire but invisible and you don't feel it when you step through it.
Get down. ::She instructed carefully reached out to push away the
leaves again.:: See that dark metallic pin there under the leaves?
That is one of the emitters. Now that I know what to look out for,
we can easily go around them.
She look of the 'pin' was quite specific which was why she
recognized it.
Savok/Yirah/Evria: Response
Getting back up she opened her Tricorder again and adjusted the
scan perimeters nodding slightly. Then she raised a foot and took
a far step forward, practically stepping over the laser barrier.
But as she continued to scanned she frowned and raised her eyes
and looked forward.
Sherana: There is a body ahead of us. Unconscious. Starfleet
Signature of a Comm badge. ::That was all the tricorder could make
out. Oh how much she wished to have an universal one, did those
even exist? She checked once more and nodded.:: No further
triggers of this kind on direct path to whoever that is.
Savok/Yirah/Evria: Response
