Stapledon:  Science sounds cool, like lots of exploration.

Yirah: Exactly! Something about the stars I think, just makes a person wonder what is out there.

Park: I thought about science like my dad, but medicine just feels… right.

Stapledon:  Are you finding science easy to...  ::She remembered he was a joined trill.  He had to have been a scientist in a past life.  She felt stupid even asking.::  Comes easy to you?

Indrid chuckled.

Yirah: If only. Half of the time I’m not sure what I’m doing.

Stapledon:  Oh really?

Park: That’s comforting.

She laughed.

Yirah: Ellie, just make sure to practice on the holodeck a few times before doing any surgery on my symbiont please. ::he joked with a smile.::

Stapledon:  Oh I mean I just thought that since...  You know...  You're a trill and like...

Yirah:  Oh! :: he realized what she meant, and shook his head:: I have some past lives but that doesn’t mean I have experienced everything.

Stapledon:  Oh...  I um...  I didn't um...

Yirah: It’s alright. :: Indrid said, smiling and trying to curb some of Stapledon’s embarrassment.:: Being joined for a Trill symbiont is, usually at least, all about experiencing new things. The Symbiosis Commission generally tries to get a variety of different candidates to host the symbionts. In my case, while one of Yirah’s hosts was a nurse, they weren’t in Starfleet. So for me, it’s not just being a scientist, it's the whole Starfleet experience that is new and unfamiliar and just so… exciting!

Shimisi: Hello. Is this a closed gathering?

Ellie turned and smiled at their newest arrival.

Park: Not at all!

Indrid gestured to the seat next to him, smiling.

Yirah: By all means.

Stapledon: Response

Shimisi: I was just having a drink and saw you here, so I thought about mingling in a non duty situation...

Park: Well you are welcome to join us- we were just swapping stories of how we ended up in Starfleet.

Shimisi: Really? That sounds like an interesting topic to get to know each other.

Stapledon/Any: Response

Park: It’s interesting to hear how different our backgrounds are and yet we all ended up here.

Shimisi: In my case it was a kind of rebellious action against what was stablished. For me it would have been easy to just follow my parents steps, but something called me to be innovative, a risker in a way... I was attracted to the new ideas and innovations that Starfleet meant.

Yirah: Starfleet is certainly a great place for that. Was it difficult to leave your family?

ndrid looked at each set of Shimisi’s eyes wondering which each set did. He wasn’t too familiar with the man’s species, he’d have to research more about it he supposed.

oO Maybe they have X-ray vision! No… probably not. Oo

Yirah: Well, I’m Indrid Yirah. I’m a Trill from a small town on Trill called Heran’zul. Oh! We raise these animals called Ghan for their fur to make textiles out of, like sheep on Earth. They are also very good climbers. How about you?
