(( USS Aleek-Om - Security Complex - little bit of a backsim))
After discovering the Lattice Alliance ship and reporting it to
Sinclair on the bridge Akeelah had returned to her console. She
had not been called to the bridge so naturally she assumed that
they had it under control. However while they had an eye on that
ship from here, a call came in from the bridge, after having hung
up with Victoria not too long ago.
Felbri: =/\= Commander D'Sena, this is Ensign Felbri. =/\=
D'Sena: =/\= D'Sena here. What can I do for you, Ensign. =/\=
Felbri: =/\= A Lattice Alliance ship has dropped out of warp and
ignored attempted hails. I attempted to contact the Commodore but
the other ship must have some sort of comms jammer. =/\=
D'Sena: =/\= Checking now. =/\=
She assumed that he had not realized she had spoken with Sinclair
to inform her about the ship and focused on the actual issue at
hand. She let her fingers glide over the console. Jammed comms,
that meant there would be a sign of how they had done that.
Bringing up the diagrams and list of frequencies her eyes
narrowed.
Felbri: =/\= They just activated their transporter. For rocks they
sure move quickly. =/\=
D'Sena: =/\= It means they intended to surprised the away teams,
making it impossible for us to warn the teams. =/\=
Felbri: =/\= Will you be able to unblock the comms between ships?
=/\=
D'Sena: =/\= Yes, I need a few minutes. D'Sena out. =/\=
Akeelah closed the line so she could focus on figuring out how
they jammed their signal and to counter it. She better got to it
quickly or the Icarus maybe overrun with these Lattice Alliance
members before long and the Away Teams had no way of knowing until
it was too late.
(( Timeskip ))
Akeelah had sat down after some time, as her knees had started to
hurt, and worked on the little puzzle. She may not be from the
COMM department, but with having decades of experience in Security
she knew how jamming worked. Once she found the frequency the
Lattice Alliance used she could counter it as well. She displayed
the waves of frequency of the jammer on her console and then
started to build her own counter, displaying the waves on the
graphic interface, moving them into the same position and adjusted
the wavelength to flip the wave, aka adjusting the frequency to by
on the opposite side of the spectrum. Once the waves were exactly
horizontally mirrored the wave evened out on the display. With a
smile she pressed a button and sent out the frequency on the same
channel as the jamming signal.
D'Sena: =/\= D'Sena to bridge. Comms should be working again.
=/\=
Felbri: =/\= Good work Commander, thank you. =/\=
D'Sena: =/\= With pleasure Ensign. D'Sena out. =/\=
Akeelah exhaled as she closed the channel and nodded to herself.
It may not be glorious but she didn't need that. Comms were back
up at an important time during their mission. That was all that
mattered. For now at least. Her eyes went back to keep her
attention on the Lattice Alliance ship. She didn't want to miss
any sign of possible attacks.
