(( Paoike Colony – Yasam's house ))

The old man seemed to not want the company, but it seemed that he considered their situation and that the storm could be strong enough to be a problem as he allowed them to stay.

Shimisi: Just to know if your studies could be related in some way with what’s going on.

Stapledon: And there's always the possibility that you know more about the local ecosystem than--

Yasam: I’m a palaeoarchaeologist.

Stapledon: Oh, interesting.

Yasam: Yes, at least for me and those who like history and not just to turn the planet to fit our needs.

Stapledon:  ::sensing the man was quite interested in such things::  Have you discovered anything about the distant past of this planet?

Yasam:  :: Thinking for a moment he made a gesture showing his grumpy mood :: Well, if you must know...

Just then there was another combadge chirp.

Lystra: =/\= Lystra to all away teams. Be advised we've learned of a fungus that creates lethal spore clouds during rainstorms. It’s not native to this area, but given the current conditions we thought it prudent to send out a warning just in case. Data on the fungus has been sent to everyone’s PADDs. Lystra out. =/\=

Minxing thought about the fact that they're fortunate to have been allowed inside. The chances to get that fungus in its lethal state were minimal, given the report Lystra gave them, but better be on the safe side.

Yasam: … there are many fungus that could do that, but I've not registered a particular one around here.

Stapledon:  Hm..  Do you recall any recent changes in weather activity, climate, that might make it easier for something like that to begin moving around more freely?

Yasam: No, that's impossible. We've been here for years, we've had many storms and never get a dead from that kind of thing.

Shimisi: Then I take your word for it. Sorry for the interruption,... you're saying...

The old man looked at the multi-eyed fellow, at least he's been polite to let him continue.

Yasam: As I was saying, the planet didn't seem to have any kind of civilization per se, but there's been life on this planet for at least two million years. That's as fas as I could go with the equipment we had here.

Shimisi: I understand your difficulties. Anything particular of those lifes that picked your attention?

Yasam: Not specifically, only that it seems that everytime a particular development should have happened to allow humanoid life as we know it, it didn't happen. I'm not sure if it was, lost, blocked, didn't make it to other predators,...

Stapledon: Response

Yasam: What I'm saying, is that we're foreigners to this environment, it seems this planet don't want humanoid life and now we're forcing it into it.

Stapledon: Response
