(( Tucker Station, Promenade ))
Mark had never seen a shipyards before, therefore he had no idea what to expect. Then again, Mark generally underestimated his experience and felt that everything was going to be new and strange, perhaps even new and scary.
But he had been on StarBase 104 plenty of times, including many times with Georgio, and so he thought he had a reference to compare to.
Instead he listened to their simulated footfalls echo through wide corridors that were only softly dampened by conversation. It was not the loud, boisterous main walk of StarBase 104. It was bigger and yet emptier, which gave Tucker Station a timeless, ethereal and strangely elegant feeling.
Georgio: It's more quiet... less flashy advertisements and boards with offerings.
Mark: I kinda like it.
He smiled, as if he was embarrassed at liking such a comparatively boring place.
They turned around a corner and came to a main commerce area. Still busy, full of shops and entertainment, but again, subdued.
Georgio: That game room should be here somewhere. ::He meant Arcade, but had forgotten the term. All he remembered was games. As they kept walking a grin showed on their face.:: Oh look Karaoke! Can you sing, cupcake?
Mark blinked at the question.
His human memories remembered singing therefore sometimes he would hum to himself when he was alone. It was enough to please him.
Mark: I guess I can. How about you?
Georgio: I never tried, maybe I can... maybe I can't. ::he chuckled::
Mark: I mean anyone can sing if you try… doesn’t mean you’re good at it. But you can do it.
Georgio: ?
He drew in a long, slow breath that he didn’t need.
Mark: Well, my grandfather said that karaoke was a sport that was best suited for drunk people who had no shame and wanted to embarrass themselves.
But Grandfather Cade had opinions on a lot of things. Not all of them were rules to live by.
Georgio: ?
Mark: Well, I don’t think we can get drunk. But I don’t think there’s any rule against doing it sober.
Georgio: ?
Shrugging, Mark waffled. He generally didn’t like doing embarrassing things, but on the other hand any embarrassing things he did in the past didn’t really have any long term effect. So maybe he was blowing the whole thing out of proportion in his mind?
Mark: If we’re really bad they might heckle us offstage.
But would that matter? Two mismatched holograms on vacation against a random bunch of strangers? Worst case scenario they merely left and found the arcade.
Georgio: ?
Mark: Ok, if you lead I’ll follow.
That was the compromise. Mark would never be the social butterfly that Georgio was, but he was slowly learning to go with the flow.
Georgio: ?
