((Deck 1, Bridge, USS Icarus))
As they spoke Indrid worked on trying to access the security console.
Yirah: The security terminal requires clearances to access. You wouldn't by chance have those Jalana?
Rajel: Ah yes right. I do.
She walked over to the security terminal that Indrid was at.
Rajel: There, all yours now.
McCray: He’s the helmsman, Ensign Montanari.
Yirah: If Frank is here, I wonder where the captain is?
He typed in the override code and waited as the terminal loaded.
Rajel: They might be here too and not able to communicate, or anywhere else on the ship trying to find out what happened. In the best case there is. ::She offered Indrid a brief nod and smile as the console unlocked.:: There you go all yours.
Indrid smiled as he got access to the console. At the helm Blaine was typing with the invisible Frank.
McCray: Apparently, the Captain hasn’t been seen since right before the last jump. That’s the one they said went haywire.
Rajel: Well worst case.. we don't know yet where they have been and what they experienced. But coming back with an immediate power failure could be that they were attacked. That's why we have to check the logs.
Indrid checked the security logs, starting with the most recent entries and working his way back.
Yirah: I don't see any logs that show that they were attacked. Although it could be that the data was corrupted.
Rajel: Do you think those tribbles got anything to do with it? ::She asked with a little grin. Wouldn't be the first time Tribbled had caused chaos on a ship.:: Or is that just an unrelated incident?
Indrid found a log file labeled Jefferies Tube No. 4 and opened it, quickly skimming its contents.
Yirah: From the looks of this security log, they seem to have caught the infestation in its early stages.
Which wasn't to say that the Tribbles couldn't have caused a problem.
Rajel: Anything from Frank about what he remembers?
There was a pause as Blaine typed.
McCray: He said before the last jump, everything was nominal, but it’s a blur after that.
Indrid looked up from the security console.
Yirah: Maybe if we--
He cut off as he noticed one of the doors off the side of the bridge melting.
Yirah: Spots! What is going on!?
As he spoke he took out his tricorder and pointed it towards the door. Its readings skyrocketed with silicon just as a large Sheliak entered through where the door had just been.
oO Is that large for a Sheliak? I guess I don't actually know. Oo
Behind the Sheliak that had spoken there was another Sheliak and a Tholian.
Snlpkg: Organic infestations, you have been found in violation of the Treaty of Algeron article III, Section 5, subsection 13, paragraph 4. Your metaweapon will be confiscated as evidence.
oO Metaweapon!? What metaweapon? Oo
If Indrid remembered his Federation law correctly the Treaty of Algeron mostly dealt with the use and development of cloaking technologies and reinforced the Romulan neutral zone.
oO And with the destruction of Algeron III metaweapons were included as well. It's just that cloaking technologies are contested more often because not many are willing to take the risk of creating a metaweapon. Oo
McCray/Rajel: response
Lesatine: There are four of them.
Snlpkg: Organic pests, hiding is useless we will find you. You will all be arrested.
oO Oh spots, if they can detect Frank then they'll think we're breaking the ban on cloaking development too! Okay, think. Think. The treaty was signed in 2311 which makes the ship older than the treaty. Oo
He stepped closer to the Sheliak that had spoken, putting away his tricorder.
Yirah: A more accurate designation for myself is Indrid Yirah. What should I address you as, Sheliak closest to me?
He tried to be as direct and specific as possible.
McCray/Rajel/Snlpkg: response
Yirah: Procurator, we can not be arrested on suspicion alone. What investigation has led you to hypothesize that this ship carries a metaweapon?
He hoped that he had been specific enough. As far as he knew the ship did not have a metaweapon.
McCray/Rajel/Snlpkg: response
As they spoke Indrid did the math in his head. It wasn't nearly as specific as the Sheliak would probably like it to be but it was as best as he could get.
Yirah: This ship was launched in the Federation year of 2267. The Treaty of Algeron was signed in the Federation year of 2311. That makes this ship older than the Treaty of Alergon by 44 standard Federation years. The Federation has not had access nor contact with this ship in 130 years. Therefore, this ship has not been able to be assessed by the Federation for any violations of the Treaty of Algeron until this day.
It felt strange to speak in such terms. He really had to think about how to be as specific as possible and even then he was sure that there were gaps in his phrasing.
McCray/Rajel/Snlpkg: response
Yirah: Procurator, the Federation remains committed to the Treaty of Algeron.
