(OOC- I attempted to clean this up a bit with all the comms chatter and to limit it to what Ellie would be aware of. If I inadvertently missed something, please let me know! -Mel)

((Paoike Colony, Drever IV))

Despite hearing the continued chatter on the line- was that the Cap?- Ellie stopped listening as she realized that just running wasn’t going to cut it. Everytime she put weight on her right leg a pain shot up from her ankle- no doubt a sign that she had landed poorly from that root. She saw the treeline a ways ahead of her and made a split second decision. If she could get the creature in the forest, maybe she could get it into the security perimeter. It had the benefit of leading the creature away from the colonist, but it also ran the risk of her getting knocked out as she likely wouldn’t have time to make sure she was avoiding it herself. Still- it beat having no plan or worse, the colonists getting hurt.

With a sigh, she altered her course and watched as the creature followed. She had half hoped it wouldn’t.

Park: =/\= I am ::breath::  attempting to lead the creature to the forest.. =/\=

Stapledon:  =/\=  I am ready!  =/\=

It felt like an eternity, her lungs yearned for more oxygen, her legs burned with fatigue, and her heart was pounding so hard she thought it would break out of her chest. Eventually, however, she knew help must be near. She wasn’t sure how much time had passed, but surely it was enough.

Park: =/\= Please… tell me.. someone has a plan? =/\=

Vernon: Don’t worry, ma’am. The cavalry has arrived.

Ellie was surprised when the voice she heard wasn’t only coming through the commbadge and very nearly let herself collapse in the joy of seeing reinforcements. For whatever reason, this creature had honed in on her and she wouldn’t be able to outrun it for long. Getting accidentally traq’d had been starting to sound better and better.

Park: Wha? ::she huffed as she approached, then pointed towards the danger:: The creature.. Not far behind…

Porter: It’s alright, Doc. We will take it from here!

D'Sena: Get behind us, Ma'am. Try to not move to one of the sides until we have clear aim of the creature.

Ellie nodded and pushed herself to keep running until she would be in the clear. As if the creature knew she was going to escape, she heard the roar and shivered.

Creature: REEEEEEEEEE-AAAAAAAAA!

Porter: I can’t get a clear shot from here without risking hitting the others.

D'Sena: They are trying to gain the creatures attention to stop it from going after Park.

Vernon: response

Ellie vaguely processed the security officers chatter even as she was continuing to stumble away from them and wondered who the aforementioned “they” were. Who all had answered her distressed call again? Realizing that she wasn’t sure if her comm had shut off the line yet or not she risked a look down to back sure it was no longer broadcasting and was caught offguard when someone called for her.

Evria: Ellie!

Even though it was the florist who called her, Ellie was more focused on Indrid- flooded with relief that he wasn’t hurt coming to her rescue.

Park: My.. heroes.. ::She managed with a weak smile as she slowed and tried to catch her breath::

Evria: Let's get you out of here.

Porter: We have reinforcements to watch Doctor Park here. I suggest we leave her in their care so we can take down the creature before it hurts the others.

D'Sena: Agreed. Park seems wounded, she'll need assistance.

Even as Ellie nodded to Evria who was approaching behind Indrid, she heard the security officers chatter to make a plan. She knew she was injured, but she had no idea the extent yet- realizing the adrenaline could be masking the pain. Even so she knew she couldn’t delay. There was more chatter, but she focused on the scientists. She was mildly amused seeing Indrid using his tricorder to try to see her state. She would need to scan herself with her own tricorder soon.

Park: Thanks.. For coming..

Yirah: Are you ok?

D’Sena: =/\= D'Sena here. We have tranquilizers to pacify the creature but need a clear shot. Minxing and... the other in yellow. Stay clear of the creature but continue to make noise, make it louder than the rain. Draw the creatures attention, to keep it from following after Park. Yirah and... colleague ::She really had to learn names of faces of more people on the ship.:: Stabilize Park, get her ready. Once the creature is not honed in on her any more, get her out of here. =/\=

Evria: :: to Park :: How are you?

Ellie closed her eyes even as the pair looked her over. She still had adrenaline pumping through her but she did a quick mental check.

Park: Heh.. well I’m standing ::she paused and tilted her head:: sort of.

Yirah: No hidden injuries? Nothing we need to be worried about making worse?

Indrid’s concern immediately bumped him up to her full bestie status, even if he didn’t know it. She already owed him after getting them lost in those caverns, now she REALLY owed him.

Park: Just my leg and ankle I think. Possible stress fracture- can’t be certain quite yet.

D'Sena: ::calling over the rain:: Porter left, Vernon right. I take the middle. Get the creature as soon as you have a free shot. Highest dose of ammunition. Ready a second shot as soon as the first is done.

Vernon/Porter: response

Evria: They're on it with tranq guns.

Indrid moved to one side of her and she held out an arm in anticipation of their escape. Oh goodie.. More running.

Yirah: Ready?

Park: As I can be. ::another weak smile::

Evria: Let's get you out of here.

D'Sena: =/\= In position. Make some noise! =/\=

That appeared to be their cue and Ellie focused all her energy on running- well more like hobbling at this point- as fast as she could with the scientists assisting her. There was noise alright. Even from their distance, Ellie could hear the loud racket that her other rescuers were putting on. She couldn’t look back though, trusting that security had it handled and the most important thing for her to do was to put as much distance between her and that creature as possible.

Her leg throbbed, the pain quickly starting to override the effects of the adrenaline. At some point they slowed to a stop and although as a runner, she knew better, Ellie could no longer hold herself up anymore and let herself fall to the ground as gracefully as she could manage- which wasn’t very. She immediately grabbed her medical tricorder and started scanning herself. She was grateful that the hail didn’t seem quite as bad, but then again short of getting pelted in the face by it now she no longer cared. She was wet, she was in pain, and she was trying very hard not to be grumpy about it.

Park: They should put that on the colony tour guide… ::she huffed, not specifically to the pair, but loud enough for them to hear:: Please tell me that’s over?

Evria/Yirah: Response

She grimaced as she felt her muscles tensing up. No doubt from the strain and from the sudden stop. She reviewed her own scans and nodded without surprise. A small hairline fracture in her tibia and tendonitis in her ankle area. No tears thankfully, she had been concerned about that, but no- just inflammation and a lot of it. Nothing a little anti-inflammatories and a quick use of the protoplaser in her kit wouldn’t fix.

Park: It’s not too bad, really. All things considered.

Evria/Yirah: Response

She pulled out the protoplaser first, and looked up at them somewhat sheepishly. Her leg was trembling from her angry muscles.

Park: I need to heal the fracture. Can someone hold my leg steady while I do this?

Evria/Yirah: Response

Anyone: Response
