T'Seva: Working on it.
...and the ship shook slightly.
T'Seva: Unfortunately, they shot us. Damage to the aft sensor arrays.
Rajel: Can you bring them on screen? Computer red alert, silent on bridge.
The bridge shifted to red alert right as a Vulcan looking man entered.
T'Seva: Working...best I can do. Not a familiar design.
McCray: Response
T'Seva/McCray: Response
Rajel: Grab a station. ::She called out and looked to T'Seva:: Throw out some warning shots.. We can't lock onto them anyway but maybe they realize we are trying not to hit them on purpose.
If McCray followed Rajel's gaze, he would see an elegant woman at the tactical console who might, at first glance, appear to be Vulcan, but with long hair, practically tied back, and a Bajoran earring glinting in one ear. She was frowning.
T'Seva: I'll do my best. My fear is hitting them by accident, but with the way our phasers are attenuating...
She moved her slender hands quickly over the console. The screen showed a hazy image of something ship-like and...
/McCray: Response
Rajel: Ba'el and Diz'mim are still out there. ::A Trill cuss tumbled over their lisp that would make her mother blush brighter than her hair.:: Get them inside!
T'Seva: Holding fire...I don't want to hit them. Opening the aft shuttle bay, but...tractor beam is not functional.
McCray: Response
Rajel: Damn. I forgot about the tracto-
And then the ship was hit again. Much more thoroughly. T'Seva steadied herself against her console, practiced, but was still unsteady for a moment. One got used to it when the inertial dampeners lagged like that, but...
Rajel: You two okay?
T'Seva: Fine, but our aft shuttlebay is gone.
McCray: Response
Rajel: What do you mean gone? ::She turned around seeing the indicator on the screen and another string of cusswords left her lip that the computer knew better than to translate.:: You.. sorry.. i don't recall your name right now, grab the helm and try evasion.
McCray: Response
As the strange Vulcan or hybrid sat down, T'Seva gathered her breath.
T'Seva: The worker bees are designed for use in extreme damage situations. They can attach to maintenance airlocks and come in that way.
The shaking of the ship stopped. After several attacks the other ship had stopped. The view on the screen still did not tell her who they actually were because the white noise was just too much to make out a lot at once.
Rajel: I think we really need to send out that repeating message. T'Seva, make it 'Don't attack, peaceful.' it's short enough maybe it will take only a few runs to get through to them.. IF they can understand us.
T'Seva nodded.
T'Seva: Message sent, on repeat. I suspect we are dealing with partial understanding, which is worse than none at all.
T'Seva/McCray: Response

She studied the young man, one of the new crew, no doubt. Poor kid, first bridge shift was *this*.
Rajel/McCray: Response
T'Seva: They're still not firing. I suggest giving them time to process our message and getting Ch'Nilmani and Ba'el back inside.
The teams on the planet could, if needed, get clear back to Federation space; they weren't the primary concern right now.
Rajel/McCray: Response
T'Seva: I'm scanning for any attempts at a return communication. Until we get one, there's nothing for the universal translator to chew on.
They might have to hope whoever these were had their own.
