((Holodeck 2, Starbase 104))

The party was going on in full swing, floating people, drink and food. It was quite a sight and Jalana enjoyed seeing her crew, her family enjoy themselves like this. After reaching for another bubble and drinking the juice inside she looked to Saveron with a little nod. It was time.

Catching the look and the nod that Jalana cast in his direction, Saveron nodded back, pushed away from the nearest, oddly stationary piece of furniture, and floated towards her.

Since they were in Zero G the whole ‘heading to the front’ was a little bit more complicated, there was no front when you just floated in space. So Jalana decided that where they were was just fine and she swam through the air towards that fixed table in the air and knocked on it, the sound of it hopefully heard by the others.

Rajel: May we have your attention please?

Catching the edge of the table, Saveron brought his trajectory to a reasonably dignified halt beside the Commodore.

Anyone: response

Rajel: Before we start. I would like to introduce to you our newest additions. Counseling Officer Cassiopeia Shanta and Comm/OPS Officer Taurik. They recently joined us and some of you may have met them already but if not, this is your chance to do so in a casual setting. ::IF they both were here that was.::

Anyone: response

Rajel: This last mission has been quite something, hasn’t it? Not only was it difficult to deal with at the time but the aftermath has been shaking some us up a lot as well. ::Her eyes wandered from person to person, that knot in her throat made itself known again and a little tingle tickled her nose.:: I am glad to see that you are all here, and well.

Anyone: response

It had been a very challenging mission, and not all those who had set out on it had come home. Saveron was well aware of how big an impact that had had on those who had returned. But this was meant to be a celebratory occasion. He made the tiniest cough in the back of his throat, hoping that only Jalana would hear it.

Jalana nodded and cleared her throat. Right, they were here for a party, so she shouldn’t bring it all down with getting all emotional. She looked to Saveron with a grateful little smile and nodded. Today she wanted to share the ceremony with him and she would let him start this one.

The Vulcan nodded slightly and looked out - and up - at those gathered around them.

Saveron: Our purpose here is to celebrate a successful mission. Two Orion Syndicate ships were destroyed, and the Deep South Dilithium Mine was liberated, it’s personnel rescued. This meets every definition of success, especially when we were unaware of the gravity of the situation on our arrival. Everyone’s actions were exemplary, their response to the challenge evident of both highly trained skill and personal ingenuity. You should all be proud.

And he meant it. They were an exceptional crew, collaborative, cohesive and committed to their duty. No one had hesitated to do what had been necessary.

The Trill nodded in agreement with Saveron. No matter how difficult it had been, no matter how taxing the aftermath was, those who were here were alive and had helped to improve the lives of the surviving miners by freeing them from the Syndicate’s occupation of the mine.

Anyone: Response

Saveron: We have multiple ribbons to award for your efforts. As we are all aware that the mission was not without its cost; thus these individuals are awarded the Purple Heart: Lieutenant Lystra and Senior Commander Nugra. ::He said gravely.:: Also, posthumously: Starfleet personnel Salvador Marcinko, Zilan, Sh'tran, Han Soo Mi, Q'Ren, Syanir Kol and Vok, and civilians S'Ral, Horm, Paden Runa, Kylie Williams, Chus'it Haihnan, Scrol Ar'el and Dhelvad. Please allow a moment’s silence in their memory.

Anyone: response

There was a pause, before the Vulcan glanced over at Jalan to announce the next, much happier, ribbon.

After paying her respects Jalana took a deep breath and smiled, not as bright as usual, but she was getting there. As the officers would see, there were no ribbons handed out here, floating in Zero G. They would wait for each officer in their quarters after the ceremony.

Rajel: The next ribbon is awarded for those who directly play a role in scientific breakthroughs. During this last mission the discovery of a Stellar Tempest in the middle of the Shahar Nebula earned this recognition for Lazarus Davis.

Anyone: response

Saveron: Next is the Innovation Ribbon. This is awarded to a team of Engineers and Scientists; Lieutenant Lazarus Davis, Lieutenant Jacob Horne, and Ensign Sirn, for both their innovative work on the sensor systems, and creativity in finding solutions to turn the tide of battle with the Orion Syndicate.

Anyone: response

Rajel: Speaking of the Orion Syndicate, Starfleet has been dealing with this nuisance for so long that they established a Service Ribbon especially for those that are dealing with conflicts against the organisation. With that everyone who was part of this mission is awarded with the Orion Syndicate Service Medal.

Anyone: response

Saveron: Additionally, the Operation Safe Harbour ribbon is awarded to any who engage in conflict with pirates of any type, and thus is hereby awarded to the entire crew.

Anyone: response

Rajel: Our next commendation is going to some of our crew that we don’t often get to award. The Silver star is an award for gallantry in action against an enemy of the Federation. Such gallantry can be shown in many ways and this time is the act of going beyond the hull of this ship, to save those injured by the attacks through the syndicate. An action taken by H'Rhaedrol Barr, Mark Two and Georgio.

Anyone: response

Saveron: The Distinguished Service Medal is awarded for an act of extraordinary heroism whilst engaged in enemy action, at significant risk to the person’s life. This ribbon is awarded to Senior Commander Nugra, for saving the lives of his comrades by throwing himself on a Syndicate grenade. ::Bravery or foolishness? The Gorn had barely survived, and given Jalana’s feelings on the subject, that might not have been the easy answer.:: I do not recommend that anyone who is not a Gorn attempt such a feat.

Don’t try this at home kids, dental record body identifications aren’t all they’re cracked up to be.

Anyone: response

Rajel: During this mission all of us have gone above and beyond, looking out for each other. And hence we award the following: Lystra, Cade Foster, Jacob Horne, Atan T’Seva, Mark Two, Georgio ::and herself though she did not mention it.:: receive the Lifesaving ribbon. Imas Heeka is recipient of the Silver Lifesaving Ribbon. H'Rhaedrol Barr, Saveron and Nugra receive the Gold Lifesaving Ribbon. Thanks to all of you we are able to be here together today. Thank you.

Anyone: response

Saveron: Like the Purple Heart, the Prisoner of War Ribbon is one which it is preferable not to require, but at the same time it is important to recognise the impact our missions can have on our crew. We hereby acknowledge Commander T’Mar, Ensign So’Mior and Ensign Sawyer Moore.

Anyone: response

Rajel: This concludes the official part of this party, now mingle and enjoy the food and drink. ::Her full bright smile had returned by now. Rewarding her crew had that positive effect on her. She loved that part of her job and was more than happy to share that with Saveron.:: What are you waiting for? Have fun!

Anyone: response
