( USS ICARUS – Deck 5 – Engineering )
( OOC: Putting together different sims, I hope I haven't missed anything. )
The pressure was building up and it wasn't the warp core he's feeling, but the responsibility of keeping giving their people what they need. However, the activation of different systems wasn't planned and it was derailing their efforts.
Shimisi: I'm getting readings from deck two, wasn't that supposed to be offline??
Perax: Somebody must have reconnected and powered up the main deflector control station. Which is not good to say the least.
Aurdax: Could it be the Sheliak?
He couldn't confirm it, but he's suspicious about it. Things don't reconnect alone... unless it's a Borg cube.
Shimisi: Anyway, it's getting energy into the deflector and I'm reading a powerup of the hyperwarp... Doctor…
Aurdax: I’m doing everything possible to shut it down, but it looks like I can only slow it down.
Mingxing looked at the doctor almost in disbelief, but he couldn't just stare or question what the doctor was saying. He needed to inform the crew trying to rescue the Icarus crew.
Shimisi: =/\= Shimisi to Foster, we have a problem =/\=
Foster: =/\= What kind of problem? =/\=
Shimisi: =/\= Something has activated the hyperwarp drive. We're trying to contain it, but you need to speed up the process. We might have issues sending you additional power, so don't count on it fully =/\=
Foster: =/\= So we have to get as many as possible as fast as possible before we all end up stuck in another subspace rift.=/\=
Aurdax: =/\= Or more likely the whole ship blows up. =/\=
Neither of those options was good and they'll need to leave before any materializes.
Perax: =/\= I can slow down the hyperwarp startup by bleeding its power to the empty phaser banks. It will cause arcing along the empty ports where the main phasers should be. I might even be able to fire a couple auxiliary phasers. Ultimately discharging the energy in those systems will burn them out, but it will keep the hyperdrive from finalizing its startup for a little while longer. =/\=
Aurdax: I can help with that process.
Shimisi: Do it!
Perax: ::he turned to Aurdax:: I won’t be able to help regulate the power supply to the transporter system using the phaser capacitors if those systems are keeping the drive from coming to full power.
Aurdax: Just tell me where you’re focused and I’ll help keep things shut down.
Shimisi: I'll take care of that, you focus on keeping us in one piece, let me worry about power distribution!
Servi and Perax worked together in quiet focus for a minute or two, buying sickbay all the time they were able to buy. Then the Commodore's voice came to his comm unit.
Rajel: =/\= Rajel to Mingxing. What's going on. We saw the hyperdrive turned on. =/\=
Mingxing: =/\= Someone reactivated the deflector that we disconnected. As a result, the system is receiving energy so the hyperwarp protocol activated. Doctor Aurdax says she can slow down the activation sequence, but not stop it. It seems the Icarus is on for a final show. =/\=
Rajel: =/\= Are you saying the ship is lost? How much time to we have? =/\=
Mingxing: =/\= Just a few minutes, we're holding up for Doctor Foster and the others to save the Icarus crew. But we'll need to leave asap. We'll give you every second we can. =/\=
Rajel: =/\= By the caves... Alright I'll make an announcement and inform the Aleek-Om. Do what you can do delay but get out of here. =/\=
Mingxing: =/\= Understood, we need to focus now. =/\=
Rajel: =/\= Alright. Rajel out. =/\=
Mingxing checked the sensors as they discharged excess energy through the phasers of the ship, making sure they fired into the void of space, away from the Lattice Alliance ships as he didn't want to add a new problem by having them firing at the Icarus. The energy was wild and it caused some overload on the phaser emitters.
And, finally, the voice from sickbay returned.
Foster: =/\= Alright we have a working theory that we can release the safeties on the Icarus’ emergency medical transporter, lock on to every remaining crew, transfer the pattern locks to the Aleek-Om and use the power from the Aleek-Om to initiate the transport of everyone at once into the cargo bay.
Shimisi: =/\= I'm redirecting the internal sensors to you so you can use everything we have to lock on them. =/\=
Foster: =/\= If you can give me two minutes I can confirm we got everyone – but we’re also going to need enough time to get our own butts off this ship. =/\=
Shimisi: =/\= We'll do everything we can. =/=
Perax: Now, I have to think of a more permanent solution before the phasers burn out.
Aurdax: I don’t think there is a more permanent solution. I think we buy the time we can, and then we have to watch it burn.
That wasn't the best scenario and he hated loosing the ship they're send to rescue. He felt as if they're failing Jalana to complete the mission.
Shimisi: Use the science labs, they're used to handle energy fields and experiments, so their systems could add a minute or two to our countdown...
Perax: ?
Through the comm system, the voice of Doctor Foster seemed optimistic.
Foster: =/\= Ok, we got them – all of them. S’jenes is over on the Aleek-Om spearheading the evacuation. Get everyone ready for beam out. =/\=
Perax: ?
Aurdax: We should do whatever we can to delay the breach to give the Aleek-Om time to get out of the shockwave radius.
Shimisi: Okay, since the ship is doomed, I'll input a navigational course away and divert enegy to impulse!
Rajel: =/\= Rajel to anyone on the ship. The hyperdrive has been activated for reasons unknown to us. We are unable to stop its destruction. Grab what you could find and evacuate immediately. Rajel out. =/\=
Shimisi: You hear her, grab your things, collect all the data from their logs and get out of here!
Perax/Aurdax: Response
Shimisi: I'll go in a moment, get back and make sure the Aleek-Om transporters don't overload before I'm back!
He stablished a link through his PADD to control the energy distribution and began a randomized selection of systems to divert the heat and excess power through different systems now that they know they won't be needed.
As the sickbay seemed to have finished the process, it was a few seconds from the hyperwarp to receive enough energy to activate or blow up, so he activated the impulse system away from the Aleek-Om, and had an idea. He'd learned from Aurdax and their own investigation of their systems how to designate the destination coordinates of the drive so instead of a random trajectory that could harm subspace on its way, he designated the same coordinates so the subspace field will not move. That, in theory will cause the subspace distortion to fold on itself, or at least, have the same starting and finishing point what could make the energy waves to hit each other. If he's right, it could minimize the affected area. If he's wrong, … well, better not to think of it.
As the energy was reaching critical levels, he took his things and pressed his comm badge.
Shimisi: =/\= Shimisi to Aleek-Om, emergency transport!!! =/\=
The
energy accumulation sound on the engineering room of the Icarus
became more acute by the second, indicating the buildup that will
either launch the ship or simply explode the warp system. He phased
out of the Icarus, hoping to end up on the Aleek-Om in one piece and
that they could leave fast enough to be safe.
