T'Seva: =/\= We are seeing evidence of potential phase-shifted survivors. Please tell everyone to be careful interacting with any images or apparitions. We don't want to... =/\=

Rajel: =/\= I know. I mentioned in a call earlier that we also saw something on the bridge. Please don't tell me that the comms hadn't gone through to you. =/\=

T'Seva: =/\= It doesn't seem to have, but you're clear now. =/\=

With all the energy, transient interference with comms was definitely going to be a thing. And maybe the chronitons they'd detected were connected to it.

Rajel: ::sighing:: =/\= Okay, it would have been something if we had to worry about taht too. We had an area earlier where my scanner didn't work, maybe there are pockets of interference in the ship. Anyway we found a connection to Teleron particles where ever what we saw appeared or interacted with the environment. We also have the theory of overlapping timelines in addition to your phase shifting, so if we just aimlessly throw particles at them trying to stabilize them, without knowing what it actually is, we may be risking that both ships and the people on it blow up. Especially in counter reactions with the Hyperdrive. So don't experiment until we know more. =/\=

S'Jenes: What does that mean?

Ba'el: There are others? Could the entire crew be present and we just cannot see them?

S'Jenes: Theoretically it is possible. And considering how long they have been stuck here, disgruntled would be a light word to describe how they’re feeling.

T'Seva: Let's hope they haven't been experiencing time the same way we have.

Ba'el: ::Looks back quickly to S'Jenes:: Is there anyway we can stabilize her condition?

S'Jenes: Most require items that we don’t have with us. But there may be one way… our tricorders…By matching the specific phase variance of the apparition, the tricorder acts as a temporary anchor, briefly "locking" them into their phase.

T'Seva: Let's do it.

Ba'el: ::Glances at T'Seva:: Are there any risks if we try this?

T'Seva: High risk of frying lthe tricorders. We may need to request more.

S’jenes: Yes that’s the only downside… It is an option that we can try, but it may be only temporary. I will defer to the senior officer on this. ::looks at T’Seva::

T’Seva: I think it's the best idea we have.

Ba’el: Response

S’jenes: That, too would be a possible solution. Phase variances play a big factor and we may need to adjust manually, on the fly, to compensate. I think we should run this idea by the commodore, we may be able to use the anchor idea from the tricorders without disturbing the telerons.

T’Seva: I'm used to doing that kind of thing with the bridge sensors.

It would be fast, but...

Ba’el: Response

S’jenes: There was a small experiment I ran at the Vulcan science academy that allowed tricorders to create a localized harmonic dampening field, inside of the field, teleron particles could be suppressed while other tricorders were used to create high frequency electromagnetic carrier waves to stabilize phases while ignoring the telerons. This could bring the apparition into our phase. The downside is that this overloaded the tricorders involved where each one was only useful for about 90 seconds.

T’Seva: Are three tricorders enough? We're going to need more anyway.

Ba’el: Response

S'Jenes: Response

T'Seva: =/\= T'Seva to Jalana Rajel =/\=

Jalana: Response

T'Seva: =/\= We're thinking we may be able to use our tricorders to temporarily stabilize the phase-shifted individual with us. The downside is we'll need new tricorders afterwards. S'Jenes would be more comfortable with a go ahead from you...a second opinion, as it were. =/\=

Jalana: Response

T'Seva: =/\= Thank you. =/\=

She turned to the others.

T'Seva: =/\= Let's give this a try.

Ba'el/S'Jenes: Response

Was the apparition waving. She lifted a hand in what she hoped would be recognized as the universal signal for "Give me a moment here" as S'Jenes started to set out the tricorders. Then he activated the field and the person came into clearer view.

T'Seva: Can you hear us now?

Brynes: Response

Ba'el/S'Jenes: Response

T'Seva: We don't have much time. How many of you are there?

She was starting to get an idea, but it would need their best engineering people to *maybe* pull off.

Byrnes/Ba'el/S'Jenes: Response

S'Jenes: Signal is holding steady, switch tricorders in thirty seconds.

T'Seva: Got it.

It seemed to be working.

T'Seva: I see her.

S'Jenes: Respond

Ba'el: Can you understand me Lt. Byrnes?

Byrnes: I do! Who are you? I know you are Starfleet. ::She gestured to the emblem on the suits.:: But your names...

Ba'el: I am Lt. Ba'el ::Gestures to the others:: These are Lt. Commander T'Seva, and Ensign S'Jenes. We are here to try and help you.

Byrnes: Then you know what happened to us?

S'Jenes: Imagine two communicators operating on different frequencies. Both are functioning normally, but neither can hear the other because they are no longer transmitting on the same channel. We believe something similar occurred during the final hyperjump.

Ba’el: What he said ::thumbs towards S'Jenes::

T’Seva: Do you have any idea what happened?

Byrnes: I don't know, I'm no engineer. I was on the bridge, did my usual work you know communicating between the departments, informing HQ of our next jump and such. When we the jump and red alert went off only seconds before the power failed all over the ship.

S’jenes: That makes sense.

T'Seva: So, it was definitely the jump that caused it.

Ba'el: What happened after that? Were you aware of anything?

Byrnes: We could still breathe. We didn't float.. but I got the new superpower of walking through walls. But now I have a feeling that wasn't a super power. You said phasing earlier.. what does that mean? What's happening to us?

S’jenes: The crew of the Icarus did not disappear. You were displaced into a different phase state. For the most part, your phase and ours do not overlap. As a result, we cannot normally see, hear, or interact with one another. However, the displacement is not entirely stable. We have detected a repeating variance in the phase differential. Periodically, your "channel" drifts closer to ours. Those brief moments of alignment are what allowed us to establish contact. Our current objective is to determine whether we can predict those periods of alignment and eventually maintain them long enough to restore you to our phase permanently. In short, Lieutenant, we do not believe you are gone. We believe you are simply transmitting on the wrong frequency.

T'Seva: And we believe we can get you back.

Ba'el: We hope to restore you quickly and get you home.

Byrnes: Does that mean you can he-

Ch'Nilmani: =/\= Diz to Teams 2, 3, and 5. We got a problem. Patches and her team have been way laid by what appears to be Sheliak. I think the Icarus is being boarded. =/\=

Ba'el: ::groans in frustration:: Well that's going to complicate things more than they already are!

T'Seva: Great.

She had planned for this, because it was in her bailiwick, but it was something she had hoped to avoid.

Foster/Shimisi/Anyone: response

Ch'Nilmani: =/\= Right now it looks like there just talking but you know that's only a prelude to shooting. =/\=

T'Seva: =/\= Not always, but...yeah =/\=

Foster/Shimisi/Anyone: response

Byrnes: They can't get the ship whoever they are! This tech isn't meant to go to someone else. What can I do to help?

S’jenes: I’ve found it, oscillations at 4.73 terahertz with a secondary harmonic at 9.46 terahertz. My recommendation, let as many of your crew know that we’re working on a permanent solution. I think we can create a larger field to get everyone at once.

And at that point the tricorders overloaded and Byrne flickered out.

T'Seva: Well, that was a usefully long time, at least.

Ba'el: ::Looking back to where Byrnes was:: And she's gone again.

S’jenes: =/\= Ensign S’jenes to engineering away team, we have found the frequencies at which these phase variations are occurring, an oscillating 4.73 terahertz with a secondary harmonic at 9.46 terahertz. I believe we can user these numbers to institute a shipwide permanent stabilization. Please respond with ideas. =/\=

Shimisi/Perax: =/\= Respond =/\=

T’Seva nodded, letting them talk for now.

S’jenes: =/\= Understood, I’ll bring my results and be there shortly. =/\=

Ba'el watched S'Jenes jog away down the corridor and swiftly out of sight. She wasn't sure what was going to happen next.

Ba'el: ::looks at T'Seva:: So what do we do now?

T’Seva: I think we can safely assume that the crew phased and we aren't going to find bodies or other survivors. I also suspect we will need to stabilize the crew from a location with significant power. Like engineering.

Ba'el: Response

T'Seva: The risk is triggering something with the hyperwarp drive. And I don't want to disable it completely.

Ba'el: Response

T'Seva: It could be what's keeping them out of phase. Or it could be what's keeping them alive.

Ba'el: Response
