(( Engineering ))
It was fascinating to her how different people looked now that she
had her new eye. It wasn't per say different, just additional
information or spectrums. But still something to get used to. Even
if it was very close to what she knew.
Rajel: They are going in blind. From what I could see from the
shuttle hangar hatch there is some electro storms or heavy
discharges going on in the atmosphere, but I couldn't see if it is
only in the sky or on the planet too.
Shimisi: Meanwhile I'm working on a similar problem with our tractor
beams. I've discovered they destabilize shortly after being
activated. We can use them for a moment, but can't rely on it for
continuous use. Since the beam is able to hold for a few moments, I
felt that if I can sort out its problem, it should help with the
scanners too.
Rajel: Anything we can do from the bridge to help out?
Shimisi: I guess not much. Maybe Ops will have a hand in
coordinating the info and power usage from both, science and
engineering teams working on that. It should improve our efficiency.
Rajel: That sounds good. Coordinate what you need to do. We'll never
know if or when we need the tractor beam. Any idea on how long it
may take to get better sensor images?
Shimisi: I can't promise nothing right now, this environment seems
to be more random than other nebulas we've been through. Even using
probes will give marginal improvement to our readings.
Rajel: ::With a sigh Jalana nodded, rubbing her forehead.:: I wsa
afraid you'd say that. It looked rather bad from the bridge too.
Shimisi: When we reconstructed the lower computer core on deck 37,
we managed to make the different parts working coordinated and as
backups to each other. We can get the information we get through it
so it can be processed and reprocessed by the different segments of
it looking for either errors or recurrent patterns that we might be
missing.
Rajel: Good thinking. I would never have considered that, which
means it is a good thing I'm not in engineering. ::She grinned.::
It'll be good to have backups and several processing stations.
Shimisi: I hope so. :: He rested his back on the console looking at
the captain who seemed to be good with the way things were
progressing on their side. :: How are you doing, by the way?
The question surprised her, but then she realized that since he had
helped create the eye he would be curious. With a smile she nodded
slightly.
Rajel: I'm doing alright. Still getting used to the new way of
seeing things, but it is heaps better than with one eye.
Shimisi: Any problem with it? Any loose of focus or disruption on
the interface?
Rajel: No, I just have to get used to the triggers of the eye to
move to different views. I sometimes accidentally change it.
::chuckling::
Shimisi: Response
Rajel: :waves her hand:: No I'll get used to it. There is always
something when you start out with something new.
Shimisi: Response
Rajel: Other than that it works really great. Thanks to the mix of
biological tissue and tech it doesn't feel like a foreign body in my
eye socket either.
Shimisi: Response
Rajel: Back to now. Would it help to send scanner enhancers into the
nebula to extend the range?
