Lystra nodded.

Lystra: I’ll check the cabinets over here then. Maybe we’ll get lucky and there’ll be a PADD that still has power.

Foster: I’m going to see if I can get into the Chief Medical Officer’s office. I have some experience in that area and what I find or don’t find might be telling.

She walked across the room and midway she felt the hairs on the back of her neck and arms and pretty much everywhere stood on end. Lystra whipped her torch back and forth and up towards the ceiling quickly but didn’t see anything.

Foster: You OK, Kid?

Lystra: Stars, I feel like someone just walked over my grave. I do not like this place.

Brexis: The faster we find what we need, the faster we can get out of here. ::To Lystra over her shoulder:: Eyes on the prize right?

She groaned and quickly got to the cabinet she had been heading towards. She slowly opened one of the drawers and was surprised to see balls of fluff floating out from inside. She blinked, then realized there were a good dozen of the things and they all looked familiar.

Lystra: Tribbles?! Wait…dead tribbles? Cade, you’re the tribble expert. I’m not seeing things right? Who the hell stuffs tribbles into a drawer?

She gestured as a small cloud of fur in various sizes, about a dozen, floated around her and out of the drawer she’d opened.

Foster: Nobody stuffs tribbles into a drawer. They leave food in a drawer and a tribble – one singular tribble – finds it and that’s what you get.

Brexis: Ew.

Lystra: Tribbles are herbivores right? ::she cautiously placed a hand on her phaser:: Please tell me they didn’t eat the crew.

She had seen tribbles before but honestly had never really known much about them other than that apparently the Klingon Empire declared war on them once. A funny thing to imagine, but then again not totally unusual. She recalled her roommate at the Academy telling her about the great Emu War of Earth’s ancient history. There was something amusing about ‘advanced’ civilizations being either afraid or or threatened by animals and also losing to them. She wondered if the Klingons referred to their incident as the great Tribble War. She’d have to ask Ba’el about that later.

Foster: Correct. They lack the teeth and digestive system to digest meat. They prefer grain.

She nodded slowly, relieved.

Brexis: Are they… alive? Why did they even have them?

Lystra: Pets right? Cade has a pet tribble on board the Conny. But she’s like…starship broken or something.

Foster: Most likely, they were keeping them as a food source. I hope that’s what it was, because the other answer is someone was an idiot and smuggled a pet onboard.

Cade scoffed, which made her smirk.

Lystra: Something tells me we might find a few angry personal logs from the command staff once we can access them.

A click alerted her and she looked over to see that Cade had picked the lock on the office door. A mischievous grin appeared within her suit helmet and she made a mental note to see if she could sweet talk or otherwise bribe Cade later to teach her how to do that.

Foster: I’m going to see if there’s any further clues in here…

She saw him hesitate like she had earlier and looked at him with concern.

Brexis: ::Noticing him hesitate:: You alright?

Lystra: You okay, grumps?

Foster: I think I get what you mean, Lystra. Something is… present.

When Charlotte snapped her head to look Cade’s direction when she heard him say that, Lystra immediately drew the second hand phaser she’d brought with her and looked around the room.

Brexis: Something? That’s vague. Something like what? A person? ::Lowering her voice:: A ghost?

Lystra: Well…I mean better a ghost than something like Borg…or a Moopsy, right?

Foster: Maybe something or someone survived. In a way that isn’t what we would call life.

She heard the huff from Charlotte but looked around Sickbay for any signs of further paranormal activity.

Brexis: I can feel something.

Lystra: Like what? The willies? Creeps? Heebie-jeebies? Cause I’m right there with you.

Foster: Response

Charlotte waved her hand around.

Brexis: I don’t know what it is. I’ve… I’ve never felt anything like this before.

Lystra: Is it something alive?

She wasn’t well versed in Betaoid abilities beyond the fact some were only empathic and some telepathic and could sense things others couldn't. She honestly didn’t know if they could sense ghosts or not too. Which was equal parts unnerving and cool at the same time.

Foster: Response

A static of emotions slammed into her. Terror, confusion, incoherent yelling and pain. She shook her head trying to push it away without losing the connection.

Brexis: Whatever is– or was here it’s not very happy…

Lystra: Yep, the phaser’s staying out this time.

Her protective side kicked in and she started scrutinizing the room more closely. Yet she maintained her Security discipline. Just because she had her phaser out didn’t mean she was going to start shooting up the place.

Foster/Brexis: Response

This is outrageous. I can not believe the audacity.

Lystra: If you want me to holster the phaser I can, there’s no need to be upset with me.

She looked back at the other two with a slight frown a moment before the hairs on her neck stood up and she shivered a little as she realized whatever she’d just heard was not either of the two of them.

Foster/Brexis: Response

Lystra: Cade…I think you may be right.. Charlotte, you said you can sense something right? Are you able to communicate telepathically or are you just empathic? Can Betazoids talk with ghosts? ::she asked wryly:: Oooh, looks like someone had some non-regulation medicine in their drawers. ::she giggled::

Trying to stay on task she opened another drawer in the same cabinet that now had dead tribbles floating away from it and found two PADDs inside, along with what looked like a half full bottle of what appeared to be three hundred year old Scotch. She let it and the  PADDs float out of the drawer and then poked the bottle so it would slowly drift towards Cade. Floating end over end.

Foster/Brexis: Response
