(( Starbase 104 - Engineering Industrial Transporter ))

::The AC-20 Micro-Series Krayne Systems bio-neural processor had arrived at Starbase 104 that afternoon and, since they’d been working together all afternoon, after finishing up their duty shifts Tor, Ix and Te had volunteered to accompany him to inspect the requisition before authorizing transport to the Constitution. Really, they were all just thrilled to see new processor, especially the Bynars. It was like a the morning of a culturally-appropriate gift-giving holiday to all of them.::

::The bio-neural processor was otherworldly beautiful, billions upon billions of data strands floating in a clear-blue gel, encased in a compact processing core, a tube about half the height of Ji-hu. Krayne Systems claimed the AC-20 series, when supplied with a protein mixture, formed new strands of data as AI processes learned and adapted, but the microscopic level of the strands meant that it’d take a dozen AI a hundred years to fill a single micro-processor. Looking at it, he realized he’d really, really have to brush up on his bio-neural maintenance, he didn’t want anything to happen to this gorgeous piece of tech.::

::As Ji-hu authorized the transportation and had Tor consult with shipboard operations to store the processor for the evening, Ji-hu’s communicator badged trilled.::

Foster: =/\= Foster to Choi.  You still on duty? =/\=

Choi: ::grinning, hitting his badge:: =/\= Hey Wyn! Yeah, I’m on the starbase, just finishing up with a r-requisition! =/\=

::Wyn tutted the young engineer through the line, and Ji-hu blushed, turning away from Tor and the Bynars, who were giving him curious glances.::

Foster: =/\= Doctor says working late is no good for you. =/\= ::he teased gently::  =/\= What are you working on? =/\=

::It suddenly struck Ji-hu that he hadn’t run the bio-neural transition by Wyn, despite his partial guardianship of Mark Two. Ji-hu wanted to kick himself.::

Choi: =/\= Well… I have a team w-working on some retrofitting of the computer systems… We’re actually receiving a new processor for the s-sentient EMH program… for Mark Two! What about you? =/\=

Foster: =/\= Me? I, uh... just got off work, too. =/\=

Choi: ::teasing, sanctimoniously:: =/\= The engineer says that overclocking your systems can result systems-wide failures! =/\=

Foster: =/\= Yeah, yeah.  We can be bad over-workers together.  Or you could take some time off and grab dinner with me.=/\=

Choi: =/\= Now?! I m-m-mean! I’d love to! But my uniform is… =/\=

::He looked down on himself. He was covered in dust and grime from climbing through crawlspaces on Deck 30, working on some installations.::

Foster: =/\= Nothing fancy, just food.  Officer's mess?  If you've been working all day you probably need some sustenance. =/\=

Choi: =/\= Alright! See you there in fifteen… ::pause:: Can’t w-wait! Choi out! =/\=

::Ji-hu felt buoyant. He was so excited he wanted to have himself immediately to the officer’s mess. He turned back to his crewmates, who turned away, looking very interested in the transportation readouts displayed on the industrial transporter.::

Choi: Not a word of this to Frag… but great work today, everyone. You’re dismissed!

::But, as it turned out, they were all heading back to the Constitution, so Ji-hu walked back with them, feeling equally awkward as he made small talk with Tor, and thrilled the Wyn had called with an invite to eat.::

(( USS Constitution - Officer’s Mess ))

::Ji-hu had bid the others farewell in the turbolift as he made his way up to the Officer’s Mess, a quiet dining lounge mostly empty at the late hour, except for a few stragglers chatting over late night snacks. Wyn had beat him there, so Ji-hu tried to wipe a smattering of bio-neural gel off the front of his uniform self-consciously as he made his way across the room, sliding into the seat across from the Andorian.::

Choi: Hey! It’s so great to see you!

Foster: response

::Wyn looked tired, a little slouched and bleary eyed, but otherwise seemed in a good mood.::

Choi: Yeah, we’ve been so b-busy with the retrofitting I haven’t had time for anything! Voluntary double shifts all week. What about you? You look like you’ve had a bit of a d-d-day!

Foster: response

Choi: Jeez, it went well though?

Foster: response

((OOC: For the sake of the new mission we definitely don’t have to draw this out too long, but I’d be happy with another sim or two!))
