Clicks, pops and whistles filled the space as he swam in a quick loop in front of her and pressed his nose against the transparent aluminum in a boop.
Sarek: Boop! Sarek wanted to ask podmother about that! Meaning, Sarek would like to be like other dolphins and get shiny pips! Sarek was told that Sarek might be able to be more part of the crew? With shinies and a uniform?
When she booped her nose to the tank wall he opened his maw wider in happiness.
Rajel: You already are part of the crew. But from what I hear, you would like to become part of the Officers?
Sarek: ::his head bobbed quickly:: Yes! Sarek help crew already, but Sarek would like to do more if possible. Though, Sarek not as helpful as bipedals since Sarek can’t go anywhere else on the ship without being pushed in little tank, but Sarek want to help more!
Rajel: Oh you are very helpful within your field of work. ::She smiled and then nodded.:: We can arrange that. Several Cetaceans have gone to Starfleet before so we know it's not a limitation.
Sarek: Would Sarek have to leave the Cawnee? Sarek doesn’t want to leave home or podmother!!
The dolphin floated in place for a moment and slightly rolled onto his side in worry. Sarek had not been born on the Cawnee and had spent many years before joining the ship as part of the Cetacean Ops program back on Earth. He remembered swimming with the humpback whales and other bottlenose through San Francisco Bay. But this ship out in the big sea above was his home now and he didn’t want to leave it if he could help it. But he really wanted to actually be part of the Starfleet crew. Like Podmother.
Rajel: You know Oz, Siance and Shedet right? They have been part of the On Board Cadet Trainings program, the Conny is facilitator of. So you would be able to do your training on the ship.
The dolphin rolled a few degrees to the right slightly in thought and then levelled himself off again with a nod.
Sarek: Yes! Sarek would be just like bestest friend Tylana then! Sarek heard she being cadet too!
Rajel: We will have to make some adjustments but you can start preparing already. I'll send you the forms you'll need to apply.
Sarek: Oooooh, Sarek not filled out forms in long time! After that what next?
Rajel: The next step will be a preliminary test and the Starfleet Academy entrance exam. I'll send you material on what to expect in those, which areas are part of it so you can prepare yourself in your free time.
Sarek: Sarek can do that. Sarek smartest dolphin!
Rajel: The material will let you know how high you have to score to pass the exam. I will also talk with The Academy head if your work so far can be used towards the credits in your field to shorten your Academy training. They do allow that at times.
Sarek: Ooooh, that would be helpful. ::he rolled upside a moment to look at her:: Sarek overhear many times how people have hard time with Academy Exams. Sarek hope he smart enough to pass. Sarek not want to disappoint himself, crew or Podmother.
Rajel: Response
Sarek slowly rolled back to a level floating position in front of her in the tank and nodded his head slowly.
Sarek: That true. Podmother did say some Cetaceans already in Starfleet. Sarek promise to give best effort and make Podmother proud!!
Rajel: Response
Sarek: Sarek just sad that Sarek limited in only helping from here. Sarek had fun seeing part of Cawnee when Sarek was in little tank. Sarek wish Sarek could do things outside of tanks sometimes. But ::he smiled at her:: Sarek know there not oceans everywhere Cawnee go.
