Ensign S’jenes - No scratching the paint

The cartography lab had settled into a steady hum now that everything was online. The starfield hung clean and stable across the display, each point of light crisp against the dark.
S’jenes stood at the console, making a few quiet adjustments… nothing major, just refining. Sensor gain, background noise filters, tightening resolution on the long-range arrays.
S’jenes: Increasing sensitivity by .02…
He paused, watching the display react, then nodded faintly to himself.
A few new returns flickered at the edge of the map… nothing significant, but worth noting. He tagged them and shifted to a wider view, bringing up the surrounding space near the station.
Asteroid clusters.
Dense.
His fingers moved again, pulling in updated telemetry and overlaying navigational data. The field wasn’t unusual for the region, but it was tight… especially for a ship leaving in a hurry.
His combadge chirped.
Yirah: =/\= Good work, S'Jenes. I still don't know where we're going yet otherwise I'd have you start looking for any potential hazards in our way. =/\=
S’jenes tapped his badge, eyes still on the display.
S’jenes: =/\= Understood, Lieutenant. Preliminary scans show elevated asteroid density in the immediate vicinity of the station. =/\=
He adjusted the projection slightly, highlighting the tighter clusters near the likely departure vectors.
S’jenes: =/\= Would recommend leaving with care as asteroid density around the station is high. We wouldn’t want to scratch the paint on a rental. =/\=
A brief pause followed as he let the comment hang… dry, but intentional.
He returned his focus to the console, continuing to monitor the field and refine the data, ready for whatever course they were about to be given.
