(( Cargo Bay 5 - Deck 13 - USS Constitution-B ))
She had spent what felt like hours filling out transfer forms on three different PADDs before she was granted permission to finally board the Constitution. When she saw that Lieutenant Bancroft was the one responsible for packing her quarters. She was convinced he likely planted some kind of time delayed prank or something. One she was issued quarters that would be something future her would have to sort out.
Once she was on the Constitution properly, she was grateful for the helpful crew. She was taken a bit by surprise at how welcoming and helpful everyone was. Not in a suspicious way, but genuinely welcoming her. She was feeling more at ease as she finally made her way to Cargo Bay 5. She had expected to meet her new CO in her office, but the Conny, as her crew were quite fond of calling the ship, had been going through some upgrades and the Bridge was off limits. And the added complication of most of the senior staff away on a mission. She was to meet Lieutenant Chandni Kapoor, the Interim Chief of Operations in Cargo Bay 5.
As she made her way through the Cargo bay she found, who she believed was the officer she was to meet up with. She approached her carefully as she appeared to be consulting a PADD, and Nat did not want to scare the daylights out of the first officer she met.
Cole: Excuse me, Lieutenant Kapoor?
Chandni looked up and met Natasha’s eyes.
Kapoor: That's me! What can I do for you, Lieutenant?
Cole: I’m Lieutenant Natasha Cole. I was instructed to meet you.
Kapoor: Yes, how lovely to meet you. I'm Chandni Kailashnath Sanjushree Kapoor. You're in my department, aren't you?
Natasha relaxed a little, there was that ever present welcome feeling. She let a genuine smile start to form on her face.
Cole: Yes Sir, that is correct I’ve been reassigned as the Constitution's Strategic Operations Officer. ::looks around:: Do you need a hand?
Kapoor: Oh stick the Sir. I'm Chandni. And I already got two, where would I put that?
Nat raised an eyebrow at the Indian woman, as she grinned cheekily at her own joke. She let out a small laugh out at Chandni’s joke. It was clever and she needed a laugh.
Cole: That was well played Chandni.
Kapoor: Well, how much have you heard about the current situation?
Nat furrowed her eyebrows as she pursed her lips thinking of what she’d managed to piece together since she arrived.
Cole: Unfortunately very little.
Kapoor: Well then you know about as much as I do. Bummer, hoped you'll have some tea. Anyway, during out last mission we were badly damaged and came here for repairs. While we were at it we also got upgrades we were overdue for. Imagine no upgrades for thirty years other than the Quantum Slipstream drive and a bit of structural integrity.. well and weapons and shields.. but you know nothing interesting. Well we are still in the past breaths of those upgrades. Luckily the Senior Officers decided to head off gallivanting beyond our reach for some mission, so we had some more time get all this done. And by we I mean the Engineers of the Station and the ship in perfect unison.
Hearing that Chandni liked gossip, was good to know. Knowing the latest gossip was surprisingly helpful, even if some of it ended up being mostly rumors. The chat about what upgrades the Conny had received reminded her that looks could be deceiving even with ships.
Cole: Sounds like there were some long overdue upgrades
Kapoor: Exactly! The bridge and sensor arrays, Operations is getting a whole new suite too. Exciting! But means we are not ready to head there yet. So.. what do we do next?
Cole: I just got here, and unlike my last assignment I’m not being thrown into the middle of an active conflict. ::shrugging:: I would imagine the rest of the boarding process.
Nat closed her eyes for a moment. She hoped that hadn’t come out snarky. Admittedly she was tired from feeling like she’d been traveling for days between the trip to and back from Andoria and then here. Coffee could only do so much.
Kapoor: Oh right on boarding. You must want to see your quarters, so how about we assign you those?
Cole: It would be nice to know where I’ll be sleeping. I figured worse case I’d couch serf ::corner of her mouth curled up in a smirk:: I know at least one other person from the Artemis.
The thought of surprising Charlotte looking for a place to crash made her laugh a bit to herself. She’d probably regale Nat with her latest chaos.
Kapoor: Response
Cole: Oh well that’s two familiar faces then. It’ll be good to see Samantha Richards.
She presumed Sam had maybe gone back to earth after her children were born. She couldn’t imagine staying on the Artemis after everything she’d been through. She’d have to check in with her and the babies.
Kapoor: Response
Cole: As someone in the know, what’s some helpful intel that’s handy for a new crewmember? Aside from everyone I’ve met so far being quite welcoming.
Kapoor: Response
