((Little Crow runabout, mystery planet atmosphere))

Maramox was a little surprised at Perax singing for them. The mix of bafflement, and a sense of adoration for their crew overcame the bottle of nerves that was forming as the sounds rocked the runabout.

Love songs were common in Maramox’ home – but they never heard one like this. It was beautiful and even with the strange translation – they wondered how many creatures sought music.

They couldn’t think of anything but –

Maramox: Thank-you. Anything I can do for you all?

Perax: I could use some of that motion sickness medication.

They couldn’t help but laugh. They wobbled over to Perax with the small well labeled hypospray. They’d be sure to give their gratitude to Cade when they say him again.

No wonder he’s Lt. Commander in medical.

Maramox: It should take a few moments to settle in; infrequently it causes Trills’ hand to feel colder. It’s harmless, but let me know if it does.

Lystra: We’ve made it through the storm so probably scanning everything? I’ll try and see if I can find a suitable place to land. But first. ::She keyed the comm again:: =/\= Little Crow to Iaonaiae.  We made it through the storm. You still with us? =/\=

Foster: =/\= Response =/\=

Perax: I’ve got the signal clearer.

They wobbled back to their seat and gave an attempt a full hearted;

Maramox: Woo!

It came out a little half-hearted.

Yirah/: Response

Lystra: =/\= Looks like we’re a few degrees north of the equatorial range. Since we got down here first we’ve got dibs on the Northern Hemisphere. How about you all take the South? =/\=

Foster: =/\= Response =/\=

Watching Lystra work made Maramox think of a small rodent that dug a tunnel near their home when they were younger. It was always on the move, thinking. To this day they wondered if the rodent was actually following them. Lystra wasn’t rodent-like herself; just… confident. Like that specific rodent.

Maramox: Either way we get to learn something; do you think the other crew has a strong opinion?

Yirah: Response

Lystra: Before we land, I can make a single circumnavigation around the hemisphere at altitude so you all can get aerial readings?

Perax: I can use the extra power from the engines to try and increase sensor range and power. I can’t guarantee the accuracy of the results however.

Yirah: Response

Choosing to stay silent when they didn’t have anything to add seemed like the move. It was helping them stay a little calmer anyway; listening to the discussion rather than adding to it.

Well.

Until the proximity alert went off.

Lystra: Nope!

They heard their yelp in their stomach as the runabout lurched.

Yirah: Response

Lystra: Sorry, stupid mountain came out of nowhere. Wait…what do you mean ‘sudden increase in thermal readings’?

oO Thermal readings. Readings about warmth and heat. Likely higher than normal if it’s an increase. Thermal readings. It will probably be easier to think without all the thunder at least. Oo

Perax: Using auxiliary power to reinforce the shields.

Yirah: Response

Maramox: Right. Of course.

The alarms sounding was in fact worse than the thunder and the shuddering of the runabout. Too many all at once felt like an engine blasted its starting roar into their ears.

The motion wasn’t even that terrible; just terrible with the alarms. They wished they could guess what Lystra was up to.

Lystra: Woohoo! Now this is fun! ::she called out:: Hang on, I’m going to get us through this valley then swing around again. I think I saw a large flat spot between some hot springs back there, can you confirm Yirah?

Yirah: Response

Maramox: You’re doing great, Lystra. ::they said this kindly, unsure if it was heard::

They did not feel this way as the flight threw around the crew.

Perax: Hey, Lystra, I know you’re having fun, but we should probably land pretty soon. ::he paused, then said in a related fashion:: I think I’m going to be sick.

Maramox: The medicine really can only help to a certain degree.

They do keep a close eye on Perax; cleaning up sick wasn’t the most pleasant part of caring for people.

Lystra/Yira:  Response

Perax: I’m not going to be too picky right now. Anything to get back the sensation of solid ground is good with me.

Lystra/Yirah: Response

Maramox: I agree, once we’re on solid ground we probably can get some better readings.

Perax: Did we get an atmosphere reading that tells us if we really need the suits?

Maramox thought to check; but remembered they likely won’t be the best at interpreting the information unless it said something akin to ‘DO NOT GO OUTSIDE’ in big block letters.

Lystra/Yirah: response

Maramox made their way over to Perax. To give a general once over; motion sickness isn’t life ending, but it can linger a little longer. They considered suggesting he lie down and hold his head straight facing up for a few moments.

Perax/Lystra/Yirah: Reponse

Maramox: You should lay on your back and hold your head facing up for a moment.

oO Great. This isn’t the time for that. Wait. They were saying something important. I definitely missed something that was said. Oo

Perax/Lystra/Yirah: Response

Maramox: Of course. We should attempt the EVA suits and get better readings outside. The runabout was struggling during the landing.

They did it. They managed to follow the conversation, even after missing parts of it.

They win!

Perax/Lystra/Yirah: Response
