((Ops main office - Deck 4, USS Constitution-B))

Perax: I suppose it’s a good idea to have someone who can show me the neighborhood.

Ch’Nilmani: That's the spirit.

Leaving the OPS office, Perax headed for the turbolift that they used to arrive on deck 4, dragging his luggage behind him. He reached the turbolift and held it open for Ch’Nilmani. When they both were inside the lift, Perax called for the deck.

Perax: Deck 8, crew quarters.

The turbolift shifted slightly as it began to move deeper into the ship. Perax felt slightly awkward as the lift descended.

oO What does a brand new ensign say to the second in command of a prestigious starship? Oo

Perax: so, what has the Constitution been doing recently?

Ch’Nilmani: Hmmm.

Perax: I missed everything that happened. I left Starbase 118 hours before everything went haywire, and it was over before the passenger ship reached Starbase 104.

Ch’Nilmani: Well, we just dealt with the changeling attack on the ship along with the Lattice Alliance. And before that we were here at Drever IV trying to figure out why their crops were dying. So a few things.

The turbolift doors opened. A fairly bustling large corridor was revealed. Perax deferred to Ch’Nilmani’s lead since did not know which way to go.

Perax: the passenger ship had a comm blackout during the crisis. No one except the captain and a handful of staff knew anything was wrong until we reached Starbase 104.

Ch’Nilmani: Ah. Caught right in the middle of it all.

Perax took in the sights as walked behind the first officer. He caught a glimpse of the Brew Continuum as they passed. There were also other businesses that one didn’t tend to think about when thinking of starships, including a rather gaudy looking spa and hair salon which shared an owner.

Perax: the passenger ship had a comm blackout during the crisis. No one except the captain and a handful of staff knew anything was wrong until we reached Starbase 104.

Ch’Nilmani: That had to be rough being left in the dark like that.

Perax: It would have been, if we had known about it. Most of the passengers were upset when they disembarked at Starbase 104 and realized they had been kept in the dark. Rough, not so much, angering, yes.

Ch'Nilmani: I don't want to assume but family good? Didn't know if they were visiting Earth when it all went down?

Perax: ::he chuckled:: Only my sister visited when I graduated from the Academy, and she headed back to Trill before I even got my assignment. My parents and brother not only disapproved of my joining Starfleet, but they are remorseless workaholics. No, they virtually never leave their Freighter, and their freighter rarely leaves its route.

Perax watched as Ch’Nilmani stopped in front of a door. He nearly ran into him.

Ch'Nilmani: This is it. Go ahead and make sure you can get in get your stuff situated. No rush if you need a few moments. Nothing is on fire...yet.

He stepped up to the door and it swished open to allow admission to a sparsely furnished room. It was decent sized common area with a small food preparation area next to the replicator, and a bedroom with its own bathroom on either side.

Perax: I’ll just be a couple minutes.

Perax took his luggage to the bedroom on the right side. He quickly put away his uniforms and off duty wear in the drawers built into the wall. A few small personal belongings including a family picture, he placed on the work desk.

He walked back into the living room and set a smaller suitcase on the coffee table, and tapped a button on it removing a model of a freighter, a tin whistle, and a Straviner, a Trill string instrument that is nearly identical to an Earth acoustic violin. He found a shelf for the first two items and placed the third in a stand in the corner.

oO I’m going to need more shelves eventually. Oo

Perax: I put transporter pattern buffers in the suitcase. It helps with the handful of larger items that I’ve been carting around. I’m ready now, I think.

Ch’Nilmani: response

Perax stepped back into the hallway outside his quarters. The foot traffic was not extremely heavy, but there were probably between one and two dozen people hurrying through every few minutes.

Perax: So you said Brew Continuum? I don’t think I’ve been to one.

Ch’Nilmani: response

Walking slightly behind the Andorian again, Perax reached the main corridor bustling with people. The coffee shop stood nearby, and they made their way towards it. Upon entering, Perax realized pressing would not be a simple matter. The menus had hundreds of teas, coffees, and baked goods, some species recommended or specific.

Perax: ::he looked dubiously at a menu item:: Is there really a Horta onboard to have that drink available?

Ch’Nilmani: response

Perax: What would you suggest to someone who doesn’t drink a lot of coffee?

Ch’Nilmani: response
