(( Holodeck 2 - Masquerade Ball ))

Finishing his coughing fit, but now working on catching his breath, Indrid leaned back in his chair, tilting his head to glare at Ellie.

Park: Care if I join you or do you hate me too much now?

Indrid tried to continue his glare, but he quickly felt it faltering. He closed his eyes, to try to hide the smile he knew was developing in them.

oO She won't get away with this so easy! Oo He tried grabbing at the last thread of annoyance but it was too late, he already had a wide smile on his face.

oO It's Ellie! Yes! Oo He opened his eyes again, no reason to hide the smile in his eyes when the rest of his face was already doing it.

Yirah: ::jokingly:: Taking notes from Diz'mim, hmm? Tormenting Indrid 101?

He gestured to the table for her to sit down.

Park: No? Wait- is that a thing? How to a join this class?!

Indrid playfully shook his head.

As she settled into her chair, Indrid leaned forward again.

Yirah: The Commander and I had an adventure on the station.

Park: An adventure…

Yirah: And to answer your question from earlier... ::gesturing to his plate:: It's a daedra flavored cake with raspberry jam.

Ellie leaned towards the plate, so closely that for a moment Indrid thought she might intend to take a bite of it.

Park: Hmm. And what’s the conclusion- worth me getting some?

Indrid gave a snort of laughter.

Yirah: I think so, it's very good. I am rather relieved though, for a second there I thought you might just shove your face into it.

Park: I mean I could be barbaric and stick my finger on it to get a taste.

Yirah: Ha!

He gestured towards the plate in a welcoming manner.

Yirah: Go right ahead.

Indrid grinned as her expression changed to one of mock insult.

Park: Excuse you, sir, but I do have some standards!

As she laughed, Indrid leaned closer to her and waggled his finger jokingly.

Yirah: ::playfully:: As an anthropologist I simply must protest, Doctor Park. In some cultures using fingers as utensils is the standard.

Nevertheless, he handed her the fork with a smile.

Park: So are you going to share about your adventures with our XO or am I going to have to make up some adventures in my head?

Realizing she must be pretty eager to hear the story, Indrid took the opportunity to tease her.

Yirah: Oh, I suppose I could regale you with tales of our little outing.

He spoke the line with false disinterest. He leaned back in his chair languidly, assuming the role of some sort of court noble that would suit a Masquerade Ball. He intended to only hold the pause for a moment before launching into the story, but it was then he noticed someone walking over to their table. She wore a black dress with silver embroidery. It was difficult to tell who it was due to the mask that covered her entire face but Indrid saw her approach as an opportunity to hold Ellie in suspense for longer.

Yirah: Ah, look someone approaches. Let us exchange pleasantries.

He flashed Ellie a mischievous grin.

(( OOC: I'm adding Lystra's part here in order to patch everything together - Zeno ))

Park: response

Lystra: Hey. Don’t want to interrupt. I just wanted to say hi to the most beautiful woman in the quadrant. And apologize for being fashionably late. ::she looked towards Yirah:: Nice outfit!

Indrid was still trying to figure out who she was under the mask. They had definitely met before, he recognized her voice.

Yirah: Thank you! Your dress looks great too.

Park: response

Lystra: Well of course, you’re gorgeous in anything Ellie. But you already know that.

Park: response

Lystra: Well, I can make it up to you with a dance later. ::she looked around a moment:: I see Kincaid’s done his usual magic. Do either of you want a drink? I can go grab some. It’s the least I can do, for interrupting your conversation.

Yirah: I could go for a drink. Something sweet perhaps?

He turned to look at Ellie.

Park/Lystra : response

Indrid's eyes flicked between the two of them.

oO Are they flirting with each other? I think they might be flirting. Oo

It was difficult to tell. After all, different species and even different cultures within those species expressed interest in another person differently. For instance, Indrid knew that humans had a concept of a social role known as "The Wingman" — a friend of the human whose role it was to help facilitate early courtship.

Yirah: I was about to tell Ellie about the adventure Diz'mim and I had on the station a few days back.

Lystra/Park response

Indrid was about 80 percent sure that Ellie was flirting.

oO Ellie is human and my best friend. Does that make me her wingman by human cultural traditions? Oo

Despite not knowing the intricacies of what a wingman was supposed to do, Indrid figured it was better to at least make an attempt. Indrid gestured to an open seat.

Yirah: You should sit with us.

Lystra/Park response
