((Cockpit, Shuttle Elbe - Tucker Station))
Lystra: I can do that. Hey, S’Jenes. Buckle up, I’m dual piloting. ::she giggled::
Lystra sat up, immediately letting her feet drop to the deck as she sat in the seat properly. While it was important to be comfortable being focused was more so, it had been a while since she operated more than one craft at a time and these flew a bit differently than worker bees. She set the Argo remote onto the console beside the controls for the Elbe. One in her right hand, the other her left.
Blaine laughed, shaking his head as he readied himself for some excitement.
McCray: Let’s do it!
S’Jenes: You don't have to tell me twice. ::buckles up::
Perax/Foster: response
She took a moment to bring both shuttles to a full stop then went through a series of drills to get her rhythm right. Both shuttles flew forward a few seconds and then she banked them both simultaneously into a series of turns, then looped until she was confident she had the timing down and put them both into a leisurely synched turn. Idling, as it were.
Lystra: Just like riding a bike. :: she smiled:: So…asteroids?
She would have fun either way, but she was definitely wanting to show off a little.
McCray: Asteroids!
S’Jenes: ::grips tightly to the seat, betazoid side comes out:: Well... McCray is thrilled, Commander Foster is amused, and considering the desire to impress that I'm sensing from Lystra... I am reconsidering my life choices.
Perax/Foster: response
Lystra: Sounds like the asteroids have it. ::almost cackling:: Better hold onto your butts!
As she sat up in her seat, a hand on each of the separate controls, she kicked the engines of both shuttles into full impulse and banked hard towards the asteroids. The Argo and Type-9 buzzed over the various habitats on one of the floating rocks on their way to the bulk of the asteroids. Both slowed down to three quarters impulse to maintain that balance of risky and safe.
Lystra: Weee! I forgot how much fun this was! Hang on, I’m gonna give them a show.
Perax/Foster/S’Jenes: response
As they neared one of the other facilities which also happened to have a Cali class passing by at the same time, she carefully controlled both shuttles to perform a rolling maneuver over one another. To anyone observing at a distance they would look like they were trying to make a helix.
She levelled off both shuttles as they neared the big one that they’d picked up on sensors. She could already see the holes in it and a slight giggle erupted from her as she hunched over in her seat in focus.
Lystra: Hope no one lost their lunch yet, cause we’re going in!
Both shuttles sprinted towards the huge asteroid and like tiny fish being devoured by a whale they disappeared inside the rock’s innards. The running lights on both shuttles illuminated the interior. Filled with crags and pointy bits of rock that jutted out in many directions. Lystra let out a gleeful whoop as she piloted the two shuttles around a massive stalactite and then inverted a moment after as their lights caught the minerals in the asteroid. It was like they’d flown into a massive diamond geode the way it sparkled.
Perax/Foster/S’Jenes: response
Lystra: Hang on. Sensors are showing a series of smaller tunnels. This is going to be a little tight.
Despite her glee, she glanced at Cade to make sure he okayed it. Safety was key, because she had family with her. And she knew he was watching just in case she needed him to take over the Elbe.
Perax/Foster/S’Jenes: response
A woohoo echoed in the cockpit, she hoped that didn’t bother the others, as both shuttles banked hard, into a tight loop before the Haephestus disappeared into a side passage with them right behind. The near constant course corrections and adjustments to their speed might make it a little more intense of a ride than normal but she was loving it.
The tunnels felt like a slalom with a few tight turns that she had to or chose to roll one or both of the shuttles to make the next turn or bank a little easier. The last one was close enough that she could practically see the contours of the rock right outside the window before they zipped out of the tunnel into another massive chamber inside the asteroid.
Lystra: That! Is why space is better than planets. ::she giggled as she slowed both shuttles to a more casual speed:: Thank you for flying Lystra Air. Be sure to tip your pilot in cookies.
She beamed a smile at her friends and shipmates. These were the moments that made all the hard ones tolerable.
Perax/Foster/S’Jenes: response
((ooc: Figured this is a good place to wrap the scene since the mission’s started. I also didn’t have this be where Dizzy calls us back since Cade has a scene with Jalana that references this moment. So this would be before the recall. ))
