(( Sick Bay, Constitution, Isolation Room - a few days after
frontier day ))
Jalana had finally gotten through to Kiamon that the person he had
been talking was not her. She had no idea what else that
changeling had done that she would hear about in the next weeks or
months. She had no control over that, and it would all be a
surprise. A bad one.
Tagus: No. No of course not. I understand. ::clearing his throat::
So, um.. Did the doctor tell you how long they’re going to keep
you in here?
Rajel: They are not keeping me. I'm staying here.
Tagus: What kind of treatment did they recommend then? Surely
there’s something they can do?
She laughed slightly, it was a bitter laugh. She gestured to the
eyepatch.
Rajel: New eye. Or keeping the gaping hole in my face.
Tagus: So what’s the hold up then? Are you just enjoying sitting
here
Rajel: Have you ever known me to be happy to be useless? I
couldn't even watch you carry our child by yourself.
Halways through Pinar's pregnancy she had been suffering from
carrying the weight and the physical side effects that came with
that, that after a long talk, they had met with a doctor. With his
help they had relieved Pinar from the burden of carrying the baby
and Olen had taken over for a while. It was not unusual among
Trill since both partners could carry to term.
Tagus: Oh that’s an understatement. Do you remember when you
insisted on helping me catalog our books because you were
convinced it was dangerous for me to pull and shelve them on my
own? And you ended up hurting yourself instead?
A whole different memory, but Jalana nodded ever so slightly.
Rajel: How could I forget? ::shaking her head:: But this... this
here is different.
Tagus: Oh? How so?
Rajel: I have over a thousand people to take care of and I let
them down by not being there when they needed me most. Can you
imagine what that feels like?
Tagus: No. ::he considered:: But you haven’t done that either.
Rajel: How would you know? You haven't been here for more than a
few days. You don't know the way I lead my ship, how this is my
family.
Tagus: How? There is no way for you to be everywhere that everyone
needs at all times.
Rajel: I should have least have been _somewhere_ to help them.
Tagus: You know I’m right, Jalana. Not that I’d expect you to ever
admit to that. You never could…
Rajel: ::growling her words:: You have no idea who I am, Kiamon. I
am not Olen!
Tagus: Response
The Trill groaned and leaned back shaking her head.
Rajel: And if you are right do you think that helps me? It
doesn't. I still feel like that.
Tagus: Response
Rajel: Just let me wallow for a while, okay? It's part of the
process.
Tagus: Response
She didn't want to talk more about that and stared at the ceiling
when the question popped into her mind.
Rajel: So you really were transferred here after we solved the
issue on Drever?
Tagus: Response
Rajel: And you think that won't become a problem. ::She gestured
between the two of them.::
Tagus: Response
