((The Forum, Town Center - Safe Harbor))
::The classroom was remarkably quiet and focused on the history lesson that Victoria Reyes, their teacher, had been giving. Upon seeing the governor of the Order of the Lost Explorers burst into the room with strange alien visitors in tow, she stopped her lesson mid-sentence. Trying not to alarm the younglings, Reidella put on a happy face and raised her mental blocks to keep her growing sense of panic from being so easily detectable.::
Reyes: And that is when- ::In confusion:: Governor?
Reidella: Sorry to interrupt your class, everyone. ::Forcing a smile:: We have some visitors today, and we’re going on a field trip into the mountains!
Stendhal: ::smiling at the youths:: Yeah and adventure! All together!
::The small group of students excitedly grabbed their book bags and began walking out the door onto the school’s porch. As each one passed she counted to make sure they had everyone and that nobody had wandered off. It had been known to happen. She admired Victoria to no end in being able to keep so many young altered under control on her own.::
Reidella: ::Conducting a headcount as the younglings left the school building.:: Dolarath, Celdan, Franklin, Ara, Sato, Yanol, and Kaironn. ::She turned back to Captain Whittaker and his team.:: We’ll also need to go check with Doctor Velross. He does have two patients who may need help being moved.
::Outside the door she noticed Kelriac and one of his Losarian card player friends. Either he had put two and two together or he had been warned by Sqeour. Either way Reidella was glad to see him. She smiled to the Sopressian old man. Having two more sets of hands to help coordinate the evacuation would come in handy.::
Whittaker: Mr. ch'Ranni, could we use the shuttles short range transporters to facilitate their movement?
Stendhal: Oh patients to move! That will be interesting! Maybe we can use our shuttle?
ch'Ranni: ::taking out his tricorder and scanning the area:: The kelbonite deposits would allow for us to transport the doctor and their patients to a central location but not all the way to the caves. It would be best to reserve the shuttle for the infirm and elderly who can't make the journey on foot. I can fly the shuttle remotely from here and begin transporting citizens in outlying areas to the forum outside so we can leave more quickly.
Reyes: Would somebody mind telling me what is going on? There were no field trips scheduled for another three months!
::Reidella looked at Victoria, hoping that she would have caught on with the idea without having to have it explained. But she couldn’t explain what was going on around the students yet. She even tried to avoid letting the thoughts bubbling too close to the surface of her mind. Yanol and Sato were both very good at picking up on latent thoughts.::
Stendhal: ::soothingly:: Field trip, yeah, that’s a good idea. Please help me, we are doing like a field trip to the Red Rock Caves. I’ll explain you later, for now please, follow us! We have the Governor agreements.
ch'Ranni: Everyone in Safe Harbor will be there! :: Jona looked at the kids while he spoke but noted that the teacher seemed to get the idea that this was an emergency situation and not a class outing.:: Grab your coats and stay together while we gather everyone outside.
::The last few students were waiting on the porch, leaving her, the Starfleet officers, and Victoria Reyes alone standing by the door.::
Serinus: So, as you can see, it would do us all well to remain calm.
Reidella: ::Looking to the teacher:: Victoria, we should continue moving.
::While Reyes still seemed alarmed and shaken, she did seem to get the message.::
Whittaker: Governor- ::he said looking at the still worried teacher before looking to Reidella.:: - perhaps we should move on. Time is of the essence and the journey to the caves will not be easy in this weather, I fear.
Reidella: The weather will also make the journey more difficult for any intruders. We will make this work, Captain Whittaker.
ch'Ranni: ::busily tapping commands into his tricorder:: Captain, the shuttle has arrived. Beginning emergency transport of people to the forum. We should alert those within walking distance to gather there.
Stendhal: You don’t have emergency vans err or like a train or some kind of transportations here ? Snow scooter?
::Reidella shook her head. There had rarely ever been a need for land-based vehicles. Safe Harbor also didn’t exactly have the resources to construct them easily. They would have to go on foot, with those who couldn’t make it on the shuttle.::
((Timeskip: After the colonists have been evacuated.))
::Getting everyone gathered in the Forum was quite the task. David Hudson had still been out in the fields and someone had to run out to alert him. Paul was busy fixing the water purifier and didn’t hear all of the messages being shouted back and forth that they were going on a trip into the mountains. Thankfully Sqeour and his power of flight made getting around to these remote pockets much faster.::
::Reidella spent fifteen minutes running back and forth checking on everyone. She helped Doctor Velross get the ill Alnoro to the shuttle from the Temple of Mora. Then it was off to check with Sqeour and see how many people he had alerted to the evacuation. After that, checking to make sure the colony’s database had been backed up to the reserve servers buried deep underground and that they had the supplies they might need in the caves. On her way back to Whittaker’s group, she made sure all of the younglings had their coats on and were prepared for the winter weather they were about to be walking in to.::
ch'Ranni: Captain, that's the last of them. The shuttle isn't picking up any lifesigns in town except for those gathered here. I think we are ready to move out.
Whittaker: ?
::She surveyed the square, agreeing with ch’Ranni’s analysis of the situation.::
Reidella: Very well, captain. We should- ::She spotted Kelirac trying to avoid getting on the shuttle.:: Get on that shuttle, Kelirac! You are not making that trip on foot on your own.
::The old man rolled his eyes but obeyed orders and sat down in the cramped shuttle with Doctor Velross, his patients, and a few of the older residents and the Celdans’ toddler. Everyone else would have to go on foot.::
Any: ?
::With the shuttle loaded and everyone else gathered in the Forum, Reidella decided it was time to get moving. She jumped up onto the edge of the fountain and focused her mental energy. It was one of the abilities that the Lights had gifted her that she rarely used. Telepathy was one thing. But projecting her thoughts out to everyone was a little taxing. Unfortunately, it was the best way to get everyone’s attention quickly.::
Reidella: ::Allowing her voice to telepathically echo throughout the Forum.:: ~ Everyone! We are going to take a trip to the Red Rock Caves. Let’s get to the front gate and make an orderly line, please. ~
Whittaker/ch’Ranni/Serinus/Stendhal: ?
::As the other most trusted members of the community like Victoria, the Hudson twins, and Paul Kaironn got everyone into an orderly line headed for the front gates, Reidella pulled Sqeour, Lyalaq, and the Starfleet officers aside. They had everyone organized. Now they needed a plan to get everyone to the caves as safely as possible.::
Reidella: We need a strategy. ::She looked up at the skies where the invasion would come from.:: I fear that we might be easily spotted visually if the enemy lands. This large group isn’t exactly subtle.
Sqeour: I concur.
::She glanced over to Whittaker’s crew, looking for their input.::
Whittaker/ch’Ranni/Serinus/Stendhal: ?
::There was a moment of quiet, followed by a moment of clarity. A small smile curled the corners of her lips as a devious plan to disguise their movements took form. She needed only one piece of information to make it work.::
Reidella: How low can your shuttle safely fly, Lieutenant ch’Ranni?
ch’Ranni: ?
::She locked eyes with Sqeour and smiled. They didn’t even need telepathic abilities to know what the plan was. There was only one reason for her to ask it and he knew it. Next to him, Olna Lyalaq had also caught on to the plan. Both their avian sheriff and the Losarian woman prepared themselves.::
Sqeour: On your signal.
::Reidella motioned upward with one hand, with the other two following suit. The silver glow of their eyes intensified with the effort. All around them, the snow on the ground began to stir and swirl upward from where it had fallen. Across the Forum and beyond, the dormant snowfall picked up in a flurry and was shot up in the air, forming a cloud of snow that blocked a bird’s eye view of the ground just above the shuttle’s flight level. A shield under which they could move undetected.::
Reidella: We have cover now. Let’s move!
Whittaker/ch’Ranni/Serinus/Stendhal: ?
